Chapter 62 - [62] Emma And The KGB

Siberia, Oymyakon region

Brian, dressed in a thin shirt, strolled casually through the streets of a small border town.

His blue, frost-covered skin drew startled glances from the pedestrians around him. Brian's Frost Form made him stand out starkly among the locals, his appearance like that of a mythical creature rather than an ordinary human.

Fearful and confused, the townspeople kept their distance, retreating into the shadows of the frigid streets.

Brian, however, paid no attention to their reactions. He walked confidently, pulling Kayla Silverfox along with him as he admired the quaint scenery of the snow-covered town.

"Brian, where are we going?" Kayla asked, her voice curious yet relaxed.

Though she was wearing a thin dress, her skin appeared rosy and vibrant, glowing with warmth. Thanks to the heat Brian continuously transferred to her, she felt as if she were soaking in a luxurious hot spring. Even in temperatures as low as minus 70 degrees Celsius, she experienced no cold or discomfort.

"We're going to find Emma for a little... quality time," Brian replied, smirking.

As he spoke, he opened his mouth and emitted a sound wave, his voice echoing with precision through the icy air. "Emma, sweetheart," he called out.

...

In a Soviet-style café

A blonde woman, wrapped in a luxurious mink coat, sipped hot cocoa to keep warm. Beside her were several Soviet KGB agents, their stern expressions betraying their unease.

"Miss Frost, are you certain there are mutants here?" asked a bearded Soviet man, exhaling into his hands as he removed his thick gloves and tried to warm his fingers.

The White Queen, Emma Frost, remained calm, her piercing blue eyes glancing out the frosted café window as if searching for something—or someone.

The other KGB agents exchanged skeptical glances, their expressions revealing their mistrust of Emma Frost.

They were not accustomed to taking orders from a woman—especially not an American woman.

After days of fruitless searching, their patience wore thin. The agents were now visibly irritated.

"You bitch, are you just playing games with us?" one of them shouted angrily.

"There's no such thing as mutants in this world! You Hellfire Club liars!" another agent snarled, standing abruptly and pointing his gun at Emma.

Despite the threats and the guns aimed at her, Emma remained unbothered. She calmly held her cup of hot cocoa, savoring the warmth as if she hadn't heard a word.

Her lack of reaction only fueled the agents' fury. Feeling mocked and ignored, their tempers boiled over.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Without hesitation, they pulled the triggers, firing directly at Emma.

The bullets struck her with precision, staining her pristine white mink coat with splatters of red. Under the stunned gaze of the KGB agents, blood seeped through the fabric.

"What kind of 'mind mutant' is this? She's nothing but a fraud," one agent scoffed, holstering his weapon with disdain.

A month earlier, the Black King had demonstrated his formidable mutant abilities to the Soviet leadership. His display of power had left a strong impression, and he had boldly declared that the mutants of the Hellfire Club could help the Soviet Union secure victory in the Cold War.

The naive Soviet high-ranking officials had miraculously believed the words of Sebastian Shaw.

As a result, they granted Shaw significant power and status within their government.

From that point onward, the Hellfire Club began a deep collaboration with the Soviet leadership. Shaw used the Soviet Union's vast resources to search extensively for mutants within their borders.

Unlike Professor X, who could easily locate hidden mutants using Cerebro, Shaw had to rely on older, less sophisticated methods—methods he had perfected during World War II. Leveraging the Soviet government's authority, Shaw initiated a nationwide, systematic search for mutants.

Though this approach was less efficient than Cerebro's capabilities, it wasn't entirely ineffective. After a month of relentless effort, the Hellfire Club successfully identified a powerful mutant.

It was for this reason that Shaw had sent the White Queen to Siberia, tasking her with personally leading a team of KGB agents to recruit the mutant.

This was what had brought Emma to this small, frozen town.

"Poor fools," Emma thought to herself.

While the KGB agents around her celebrated their apparent victory, the White Queen sat calmly at another table, sipping her hot cocoa.

She glanced up at the group of agents, who were still convinced they had killed her. Her expression was one of amused pity.

As a Level 4 psychic mutant, Emma Frost was a master of creating powerful psychic illusions. What the KGB agents believed they had shot was nothing more than an empty chair.

Emma Frost was not in a good mood.

She already detested the cold, harsh climate of Siberia, which forced her to bundle herself up tightly. For the past few days, she had been transforming into her diamond form to endure the freezing temperatures.

As for the task of searching for the mutant, Emma had delegated it to the elite KGB agents, treating them as her subordinates. She preferred to let them handle the tedious work while she waited in relative comfort.

However, after three or four days of searching, the agents had found no trace of the mutant. Their incompetence was starting to irritate her.

Frustrated, Emma finally reverted from her diamond form, slipping into a heavy mink coat. She resolved to take matters into her own hands, intending to use her psychic abilities to locate the mutant herself.

But before she could act, the idiotic KGB agents began causing trouble.

Their excitement over nothing pushed her already-frayed patience to its limit.

Bang. Bang. Bang.

One by one, the chattering, cheering KGB agents collapsed to the ground. Their eyes were wide open, their pupils unfocused, like lifeless puppets.

Emma had unleashed her mind powers, obliterating the consciousness of the entire group in an instant.

With the agents gone, Emma's mood improved slightly.

She raised her right hand and gently touched her temple, preparing to use her psychic abilities to find the hidden mutant.

Suddenly, a familiar voice echoed in Emma Frost's ears.

"Emma, sweetheart, you seem to be in a bad mood."

Hearing the voice, a look of surprise crossed Emma's face.

"Brian?" she muttered, glancing around, but there was no sign of him.

Frowning, Emma immediately activated her psychic abilities, extending her consciousness to control the minds of the people around her. Through their eyes, she located Brian, his blue skin standing out in stark contrast to the snow-covered surroundings.

Seeing Brian casually dressed in thin clothing and seemingly unaffected by the cold, Emma couldn't help but feel a pang of envy.

"Impressive, Brian. I have to admit, your adaptive evolution is quite an incredible ability," she said, her tone tinged with admiration.

To communicate directly, Emma invaded Kayla's consciousness and spoke to Brian using Kayla's voice. But as she did so, she was struck by an unexpected sensation—she could feel a constant, soothing warmth radiating from Kayla, as if she were submerged in a hot spring.

The experience left Emma momentarily stunned. She marveled at the sensation, surprised by the luxurious warmth Kayla had.

As Emma pondered the heat emanating from Silverfox Kayla, Brian entered the café with Kayla and sat directly across from Emma.

Looking at the heavily bundled White Queen, Brian smirked knowingly. He finally understood why Emma was in such a foul mood.

Brian reached out and pulled Emma Frost into his arms, his right hand holding her close.

The heat absorbed by his frosty skin quickly transferred to Emma's body.

Emma felt a wave of long-forgotten warmth envelop her.

"Brian, can your skin actually emit heat?" she asked in surprise, withdrawing her consciousness from Silverfox Kayla's mind as she relaxed into his embrace.

"Emma, it's not just my skin that can conduct heat," Brian replied with a mischievous grin, his tone layered with meaning.

"Really, it 'that' also become blue?" Emma said, her curiosity piqued. "Then let me experience it."

Impatient and intrigued, Emma leaned into Brian, inviting him to a battle.

Since their first encounter, Emma had often recalled the sensations from their shared time in the spiritual realm. She replayed the details of that "battle" repeatedly in her mind, savoring the experience.

Over time, it had become a ritual—each night before going to sleep, Emma would revisit those memories in the spiritual world, replaying every moment in vivid detail.

Now, she was eager to create new memories with Brian.
