Chapter 1 - Reincarnated as the king of kantipur

A young man found himself awake in a bedroom.

His bed looked small but luxurious at the same time. It was like a luxurious and cozy bed. Wooden edges canopied the bed along with the vibrant cloth hanging from above. He couldn't see from all three sides except for the front.

It was very surprising to wake up in such a dazzling bed such as this one. However, the only problem is that he didn't recognize any of it.

"Where am I…"

A mutter escaped his lips as he tried to get up in his bed, trying to recall his memories to figure out how he got in this place.

Last night, he was sleeping while watching some youtube on his phone and now all the sudden, he woke up in his bedroom. Did someone kidnap him while asleep? Did he die in his sleep and got sent to heaven? Or did his family somehow manage to transform his entire bedroom in a single night?

None of these possibilities seemed particularly likely.

After getting out of his bed, which was like a mini room, he noticed that his room looked entirely different as well. The entire thing was made out of wood and it was twice as large as his bedroom. Everything looked way too old-timey, yet fancy at the same time.

When he noticed the mirror on a closet nearby, he went there. To gauge his reflection, however, what he saw shocked him.

A young man around eighteen with a lean physique and tall figure was looking back into his eyes. The reflection had black hair with a pair of chestnut brown eyes. Only wearing baggy shorts, the reflection's left shoulder and collarbone was slightly displaced in a downward angle, almost like an injury or perhaps a birth defect. It was safe to say that this person was not him.

"Who is this–!" Before the young man could jump in surprise and ask that seemingly obvious question, his mind suddenly exploded in a pang of pain.

Images of memories, emotions, and thoughts flooded into his brain at once and he instinctively clutched at his head in pain.

During this moment, the door to his room was opened from the outside and someone entered. Gasping, the person spoke out with worry in her voice.

"Your highness! Are you fine?"

She rushed to the young man's side and knelt down, trying to help.

"Yes… I'm fine, Manila." The young man reassured while shaking off the lingering pain in his head.

When the young man stood up, he could see the concerned expression on Manila's face. She was clearly not convinced.

"Don't worry, Manila, I'm fine. I just need some water.." He said inorder to reassure her.

"I'll fetch you water right away, your highness."

Sitting on his bed, he started rubbing his still-throbbing forehead while coherently arranging all of the messy memories he received.

Somehow, he had been transmigrated into the body of Nripendra Malla in the year 1674 as the heir to the king of Kantipur. Which sounds good and all… until you consider the fact that Nripendra Malla had one of the least eventful reigns in the history of Kantipur Kingdom.

From his knowledge from earth, he knew that Nripendra Malla only ruled for a measly 6 years. Worse, the entire time of his reign, his younger brothers had conspired against him to sip him away of any real power. He was almost like a king just for show. To top it off, Nripendra Malla dies in just 6 years, where historians argue if his brothers were behind his death to get his throne faster before Nripendra had any children.

'So basically I'm the worst possible king one could ever imagine?!' After collecting his thoughts, he concluded in his mind. He was excited about the prospect of being transmigrated into a body of a royal family. However, this was not particularly what he had in mind.

"What's wrong, your highness? You look very distressed. Perhaps you really are sick? I can make arrangements to delay the coronation if you wish to, your highness."

Manila said worriedly with a glass of water made out of silver in her hand and Nirpendra had to shift his focus to her.

"No, no. Believe me, I'm fine. And we'll have the coronation today no matter what."

His words had a secondary meaning behind them. If his memory served him right, Nripendra Malla missed his public coronation. Due to which, not many important people recognized him ascending to the throne, leaving him to lose a bit of publicity and power.

"Are you sure, Your Highness? You don't have to force yourself. We're here to support you at times like this."

"Don't worry about it. I'll attend the coronation today."

"If you don't rest, you might get a sickness that is hard to treat. So please refrain from straining yourself, your highness."

The servant kept weirdly persistent and it was harder for Nripendra to reject her. "Seriously, Manila. I'm really fine. I also must attend the coronation."

Hearing this Manila paused for a moment, her face showing hesitation as she contemplated something deeply. But then, she sat right next to Nripendra close enough that Nripendra could feel the warmth emanating from her body.

"Your Majesty… I think you shouldn't go… It would be very sad if your majesty fell sick like his father. If… if… your majesty dies I–"

Manila was sniffling while clutching at Nripendra's shoulders. From this position, she looked to be like a vulnerable maiden. She was a young lady with not particularly attractive looks but also not ugly. But to compensate for that, she dressed up well in a silky robe and a hairpin with a flower design held up her hair bun.

The young man was taken aback for a moment as her plump breasts rested on his side. But soon, he calmly lifted her arm off her shoulders and stood up.

'This must be how Nripendra's brothers convinced him to keep out of the coronation ceremony.' He concluded.

Since Nirpendra was seduced by this servant, he must've stayed in his room for the duration of the ceremony. Thus, the two brothers took up the stage and gained recognition as a loving and supporting brother of the sickly Nirpendra.

But he simply couldn't miss this ceremony. Most of the kingdom's population would be present here on this specific day. This is the perfect day to inspire the entire country and increase his popularity among them.

"Manila. Don't worry about it. I won't die just because of some measly sickness."

"But… Your Majesty…" She was looking into his eyes with pleading eyes.

But then, a third voice came from the door frame.

"Why don't you follow her advice, dear brother?"

"That's right, we can't have the newest king sick right after his ascension to the throne." Another voice spoke from the same direction.

When Nirpendra looked, he could see two young men with similar physical features as his; black hair and brown colored eyes. From his memories, he could immediately recognize the two.

They were Mahipatendra and Parthibendra, his younger brothers. The former is eighteen years old and the latter just seventeen. Despite being so young, they were already scheming behind Nirpendra's back to betray and steal his power for themselves.

"If you are sick, there's no need to force yourself to goto the ceremony. We'll handle it for you, dear brother." The older Mahipatendra spoke.

Nripendra dismissively shook his head, "No, no. This is an important event for me. I must go. Besides, I'm not even feeling sick."

"Well… If you insist that much, brother. But please inform us immediately if you feel sick. We three are the only direct descendants left after our father's death. We must support each other as much as we can." The younger Parthibendra said.

"Sure, dear younger brothers. We must support each other. Well, now, I will get ready for the coronation ceremony. So please wait for me in the royal carriage."

Nripendra waited for them to leave and he ordered Manila to prepare a bath for him while he chose a suitable attire for the situation.

The servant Manila looked flustered for obvious reasons. Her seduction had failed and she was probably forced by the two brothers to do it. She nodded more than three times and got to work.

Historians suggest that in his life, Nirpendra was easily dragged around by women who used him to quickly rise the ranks in the social hierarchy. But now that he's possessing the body of Nripendra, nothing of that sort was going to occur.

He was also going to alter the course of history and gain his rightful power as the king of Kantipur.
