Unfortunately it all ends far too soon. They made it to the hideout in the corner of the Royal Palace and landed near the entrance. Some adventurers bowed at the presence of two Adamantite Adventurer.
"Quickly Evileye sama, Momon sama, Lakyus sama is waiting inside," one of the adventurer, a gold plate said.
The two of them headed into the makeshift infirmary. There, they saw Lakyus and Tina standing in front of Gagaran and Tia. The latter two lie unconscious on a bed and not dead. Then, Lakyus saw who's entering the room and lowered her head at his presence.
"Momon dono, I believe we haven't properly meet each other," Lakyus raised her head. "My name is Lakyus, the leader of the Blue Rose. I thank you for saving Evileye from the Demon Emperor, Jaldabaoth," she said.
"It's alright, helping those in need is common sense after all," he said.
Lakyus found herself nodding in agreement.
Momon and Evileye stepped into the infirmary. There, they saw a certain little girl sleeping on a bed. "She must be exhausted," the former said softly at the sight of his little sister in all but blood. Then he turned towards Lakyus. "What about those two? Will they be ready for battle soon?"
Lakyus shook her head. "No, unfortunately it will take a long time for them to regain their lost life energy," she said. "
Evileye looked at Lily who's sleeping soundly on her bed. "Lakyus, have you heard? Lily wiped out the Six Arms all by herself," she said.
"I've heard from Climb, but I suppose that was you supporting her from behind the scenes?"
"No," Evileye shook her head. "No, she did it all herself, she is a force to be reckoned with," she looked at Lily. 'Not to mention that she's possibly a godkin,' but she kept that part to herself. "I'm inviting her to join us, do you have any problem with that?"
Lakyus looked down in deep thought. "Well… She's still a mithril ranked adventurer…" she looked back at Evileye and can somehow see her looking at her flatly. "I mean, obviously she's getting a promotion after this one but… Can you at least let me have an interview with her first?"
Then, Momon stepped forward and took out a yellow potion out of nowhere. He poured it all over Lily's sleeping form and the girl snapped her eyes open. She closed it again, stretched her arms, and yawned sleepily. "I was having a good dream there, Momo nii…" she muttered.
Momon chuckled a little. "Was it about you joining the Blue Roses?"
Lily shook her head. "No, it was about me finally defeating Sally in a fair fight by using my triple tenth tier spell combo," then she pointed at her brother. "But that was also a good dream."
"Lily san," Lakyus called out for her.
Lily turned to Lakyus and grinned in excitement. "Lakyus sama! Did you do it? Did you cheat death?" she asked.
Lakyus nodded a little. "Yes, with some fortune, I managed to revive them," she said calmly. "By the way, Evileye told me you're interested in join us," she added.
Lily nodded vigorously. "Yeah, did I pass the test? I hope I did, those Six Arms members were too weak, I can't even use my more powerful spell combo," she said.
"Evileye told me that you've passed with flying colors," Lakyus said and Lily pumped her fist in victory. "However, the next part of the test is about to begin and it's an interview test."
"Okay, ask me anything Lakyus sama!"
Lakyus nodded a little. "Alright, name all the species and subspecies of undead,"
Lily's smile faltered. "Eh? EEH? It's that kind of exam," she looked around in panic and looked at Momon who seems to be holding back his laughter. "Momo nii help me! Uhh, [Messa-"
"I'm just joking Lily chan," Lakyus laughed a little. "Okay, this one is serious question okay?"
Lily sighed in relief and nodded. "Okay…"
"First and foremost, why did you decide to become an adventurer?"
Lily looked down in deep thought. "Because I like adventuring and I like helping people," she replied. "Because, you know, helping those in need is common sense," she added.
"Second question, what do you value in life?"
"Umm… What do you mean?"
Lakyus looked a little disappointed after hearing that. "I see… Well, you're still young," she muttered.
"Third question, what do you think of killing someone?"
"It's simple. I just have to ask myself, 'is the world a better place without this person around?' if the answer is yes then I will not hesitate."
Lakyus nodded and continued her questions.
"Fourth question, are you afraid of death?"
"Nope, not at all, no," Lily replied with an impossible amount of confidence.
"Fifth question, what is your biggest fear?"
"Evileye just fought it," Lily replied. "I guess losing my family too, but I think that goes without saying you know?"
Lakyus nodded a little understandingly. "What do you fear more then, losing Momon or your life?"
"Losing Momon of course, because…" she bit her lip. "Because I can tell that it will hurt much, much worse than dying..."
This time, Tina spoke up. "Lily, please answer truthfully, are you a human?"
"Wh-what are you talking about?"
"Answer truthfully Lily,"
Lily looked at Momon and found him nodding at her.
"No…" Lily looked down. "I-I tell you, but promise you won't tell anyone?"
Lakyus nodded understandingly. "It's alright, I promise I won't tell anyone."
Lily stood up and her form suddenly shifts and turn. The white haired little girl was replaced by a certain blonde haired vampire without her mask. "I'm a doppelganger," she said in Evileye's voice. "I… I don't have a real form, I can be anything," she turned into the demon maid Evileye fought before. "I can copy anyone's form and use their power if I have enough MP to match them," she turned back into her original form.
"And who is Lily?" Lakyus asked. "Is she some random girl you took a liking to?"
"No, Lily is…" she looked at Momon and he nodded once again. "Lily is Sally… I, I based my appearance around Sally before she became a vampire. We grew up together, Sally and I, we were practically twins back then… So yeah, I'm not actually eleven you know? But I don't want to grow up, I just can't… Seeing her stuck in a child's body for eternity… I don't want her to suffer alone…"
Lakyus's heart ached as she listened to the girl's life story. She didn't expect someone like Lily to have this much, depth, into her character. She honestly thought that she's just a child prodigy who wanted to be an adventurer because it's cool but now…
Now Lakyus felt ashamed of herself for asking her this. She felt more like a bully than an honorable adventure. "I'm sorry for asking you that," she said.
"It's okay," the girl wiped some tears off her face. "At least you didn't ask me to explain the chemical properties of a common slime," she joked.
"You're right," Lakyus chuckled and held out her hand. "Welcome to the Blue Rose Lily," Lily shook her hands and they pulled each other in a tight embrace.
