As soon as Maria hung up the phone with Frudi, she felt a tap on her shoulder. She turned around to see a nurse standing behind her, a look of concern etched on her face.
"Sorry, ma'am, what are you doing here?" the nurse asked, eyeing Maria's disguise as an aged woman.
Maria's Mexican accent was thick and convincing. "I am looking at the poor boy. He looks so pitiful. I want to pray for him, Mother Mary will protect him."
The nurse's expression was firm but polite. "I'm sorry, ma'am, but this is a VIP area. I don't think his guardians will be happy for him to have people around."
Maria's eyes sparkled with a hint of mischief. "Please, let me pray for him. Just for a minute, por favor?"
Just as the nurse was about to insist, Daniel appeared at the scene, his eyes scanning the commotion in front of Dylan's room.
The nurse quickly explained the situation to Daniel, who listened intently, his eyes never leaving Maria's face.
