Chapter 50 - Chapter 50: Hospital or Crematorium?

Lin Fan stealthily crept towards the high-voltage box. He couldn't reach it, so he hugged the stone pillar and tried to climb, but he couldn't get a grip. Standing on the ground, he scratched his head, puzzled.

It was a bit high. What could he do if he couldn't climb it?

Seeing Old Zhang still being chased by the orderlies, he couldn't let Old Zhang's efforts be in vain. He had to climb up there, no matter what.

Beside the high-voltage box, a sign read:

[High Voltage Danger! Unauthorized operation by non-personnel is strictly prohibited. Violators bear all consequences.]

Lin Fan remained calm. He recognized the characters. He wasn't illiterate; he was a very learned person, it's just that no one had noticed yet.

Since he couldn't climb up, he decided to jump. With a light exertion of force, he kicked off the ground and actually made it.

He had never thought he could jump so high. He firmly believed that as long as he wanted to do something, he could do it. Without trying, he would never know how capable he was.

He once believed the two holes in an electrical outlet were a pathway to heaven, and now, this high-voltage box was a special shortcut that bypassed even the hospital.

A normal person would definitely be terrified by this thing and avoid it at all costs.

But for Lin Fan, he wanted to try the "useful electricity" Old Zhang had told him about. Maybe it really would be useful. He hoped it wouldn't disappoint.

"Ah, chase me..."

Old Zhang was as nimble as a monkey, running incredibly fast. Several orderlies chased him, but they couldn't catch up.

The surrounding mental patients clapped and shouted.

"Good, good, good..."

"Run, run faster!"

They had no idea what was happening, but they found it very entertaining, like a game of hawk catching chickens. It was really fun.

Sun, enduring the pain, chased for a long time, panting, clutching his kidney, and gasping for air. He was so tired. He hadn't expected a mental patient to be able to run so fast.

He used to think this job was dangerous, but now he found it wasn't just dangerous, it was also incredibly tiring.

If it weren't for that damned money...

He would never have stooped to this.

"Stop running!" Sun shouted, then glanced around. Suddenly, he froze, turning his head to look in the distance. He saw a mental patient climbing onto the high-voltage box, and he shrieked, "Get down! Don't touch that! Get down!"

"Stop chasing him! A patient is climbing the high-voltage box!"

Sun was stunned. He had a relatively strong mentality. If a female nurse had seen this, she would definitely have covered her mouth and screamed her lungs out. If she were more faint-hearted, she might even have… an accident.

The orderlies chasing Old Zhang heard the shout and quickly looked over. They also saw Lin Fan climbing onto the high-voltage box, and their faces turned pale with shock.

Was he suicidal?

But thinking about it, it made sense. Telling a mental patient not to do something suicidal was like asking them not to spend money.

The senior director, holding a thermos, strolled leisurely through the mental hospital. He was very satisfied with his job. Although it was sometimes troublesome, most of the time it was quite relaxing.

Strolling around with his thermos, everyone who saw him had to greet him with...

"Good morning, Director!"

Clang!

At that moment, the senior director froze, his thermos falling to the ground. He gaped, staring blankly in the distance.

"Holy shit!"

Despite his doctoral degree, upon seeing this scene, all his knowledge flew out the window, and a single "holy shit" expressed his feelings.

He took out his phone and dialed the director's number.

"Director, something's about to happen." His tone was calm, but within that calmness was a hidden panic.

"Oh, I know. The ambulance will be here soon."

"Director, this time it might not be a 120 issue. That burial plot you arranged last time... you might need to use it."

"What are you talking about?"

"Ah! He's dead..."

The senior director screamed, so frightened that he even threw his phone away.

Lin Fan touched the wires inside the high-voltage box. A terrifying current surged through his body, his hair standing on end, electric arcs coiling around him. He twitched, his features contorting.

His eyes rolled rapidly. He slowly raised his hand, his finger pointing towards the sky, electricity flickering around his fingertip. He shouted loudly:

"Old Zhang, I think I've succeeded!"

"I'm full of power now!"

Bang!

Sparks flew. The instantaneous explosive force sent Lin Fan flying.

Inside the office:

Director Hao slowly put down his phone, looking at the suddenly black computer screen. He had a bad feeling. Then, a roaring sound reached his ears. He immediately went to the window and saw flames and black smoke rising from the high-voltage box in the distance.

"I..."

He didn't say a word, hurriedly dialing 120.

"Hello! This is..."

"I know where. We've already dispatched. We'll be there soon."

"I want to say..."

"I know. Gotta go, I'm driving."

Beep! Beep!

Director Hao stood there dumbfounded, his expression stiff. He knew without a doubt who was behind this, but he really hadn't expected a patient from Ward 666 to challenge the high-voltage box.

It was so high, how did he even climb up there?

At this moment:

Lin Fan lay quietly on the grass. The surrounding grass had turned black, and his body was also blackened, his hair singed. When he landed, he twitched a few times.

The orderlies stood there dumbfounded, some with trembling legs, others collapsing onto the ground.

They were utterly terrified by the scene before them.

"Keep the patients away! Stay at least eight meters back!" The orderlies, regaining their composure, shouted.

Some pulled the mental patients back to prevent them from approaching.

"Lin Fan..."

Old Zhang, ignoring the orderlies' attempts to stop him, desperately ran to Lin Fan's side.

"Come back!" the orderlies shouted.

But for Old Zhang, he had to go to Lin Fan's side and see what had happened.

Old Zhang saw Lin Fan's blackened body and reached out to touch him. Crack! There seemed to be residual current, startling Old Zhang into retracting his hand.

"Lin Fan, are you okay?" Old Zhang asked nervously, scratching his arms anxiously.

Lin Fan, now with only his eyes and teeth white against his blackened body, forced a smile, revealing his white teeth. "I'm fine. I feel great."

Old Zhang grabbed his head, asking sadly, "Did I do something wrong?"

"You didn't do anything wrong. I'm perfectly fine now, just a little tired. I'll sleep for a bit." Lin Fan said softly, then closed his eyes, lying there motionless.

Old Zhang paced anxiously. Impossible, I must have done something wrong. Was what they showed on TV really that terrifying?

He saw electric arcs still flickering in the distance.

He slowly walked over and reached out to touch them.

Bang!

Old Zhang was flung back, landing beside Lin Fan. The two patients from Ward 666 lay side-by-side, motionless, sharing weal and woe.

Good brothers stick together.

"Ah! Director, another one's dead!"

A mentally fragile female nurse collapsed onto the grass, screaming her lungs out.

Instantly, screams filled the Qingshan Mental Hospital.

Wee-ooh! Wee-ooh! Wee-ooh!

The familiar sound arrived.

An ambulance drifted in with an expert maneuver, its tires squealing.

Doctors and nurses rushed out, pushing a gurney.

But when they saw the scene, they fell silent.

"Director Hao, should we follow procedure and send them to the hospital, or straight to the crematorium?" the doctor asked.

"What do you think?"

Director Hao was in a foul mood. Please don't let anything happen. I've grown quite attached to you all over the years. I just didn't expect you to go this far.

Damn high-voltage box, couldn't you be taller?

At least two or three hundred meters high, right?
