Chapter 24 - ch 24 the conflict of Devotion

The temples of Trivijaya Mandir and Trilakshaya Mandir, each devoted to their respective gods and goddesses, had become centers of worship, devotion, and cosmic balance. The devotees of each temple came from all walks of life, seeking blessings of protection, victory, resilience, prosperity, wisdom, and balance. For many years, the worshippers of these temples coexisted peacefully, recognizing the interconnectedness of the gods and goddesses in maintaining universal harmony.

However, as the temples grew in prominence and the stories of the divine powers of Vishnu, Vijaya, Kalavira, Lakshmi, Vaibhavi, and Alakshmi spread far and wide, subtle tensions began to rise between the devotees. Some devotees of Trivijaya Mandir—those devoted to the brothers Vishnu, Vijaya, and Kalavira—began to boast that the three brothers were superior in power, for they governed the cosmic forces of time, protection, and victory.

On the other hand, devotees of Trilakshaya Mandir, devoted to Lakshmi, Vaibhavi, and Alakshmi, argued that the three goddesses governed the very essence of life—prosperity, wisdom, and balance. They claimed that without the blessings of the goddesses, the power of the brothers would be diminished, as they depended on fortune, wisdom, and adversity to truly thrive.

At first, these discussions were quiet, respectful debates. But as time passed, pride and ego began to creep into the hearts of some devotees, and what began as simple discussions turned into heated arguments.

The Growing Divide

The arguments between the two groups escalated, spreading beyond the temples and into the villages that surrounded them. In the markets, in the fields, and even within families, people began to take sides. Some claimed that Vishnu's power to preserve life was unmatched, while others argued that Lakshmi's ability to bestow fortune was the foundation of all blessings.

One day, the conflict reached a boiling point. In the courtyard of Trivijaya Mandir, a group of Vishnu's devotees had gathered for their daily offerings, when a group of devotees from Trilakshaya Mandir entered the courtyard, chanting praises of the goddesses. The two groups exchanged sharp words, each claiming their gods or goddesses were greater.

"This is Vishnu's domain!" shouted one of the devotees from Trivijaya Mandir. "The preserver of the universe and his brothers hold the ultimate power!"

"No!" replied a devotee of Trilakshaya Mandir, raising her voice. "Without Lakshmi's blessings, there would be no wealth to preserve. Vaibhavi grants wisdom, and Alakshmi ensures balance through hardship. It is the goddesses who sustain all life!"

Before long, the arguments turned into a full-blown confrontation. Words were no longer enough to settle the conflict, and the devotees began to throw stones and push one another. It wasn't long before the leaders of each group, shocked by the violence erupting among their followers, realized that this was no ordinary dispute. Something darker, more insidious, was feeding the conflict.

The Gods Observe from the Heavens

In the celestial realms, the gods were well aware of the unrest brewing among their devotees. Indra, always one to watch over such matters, observed the growing divide with concern. He called for a council in his court, inviting Mahadev, Brahmadev, and the other gods to discuss how best to resolve this conflict.

As the gods gathered in Indra's court, there was much debate. Agni, the god of fire, spoke first. "If the devotees continue to fight like this, they will disturb the cosmic balance. The gods are not meant to be in competition—each of us has a role to play in maintaining the universe."

Varuna, the god of water, agreed. "Without balance between the gods and goddesses, the flow of the cosmos will be disrupted. We must find a way to bring peace between these groups."

Indra, stroking his chin, looked concerned. "This conflict is not just about devotion—it is about pride. The devotees are forgetting the interconnectedness of the gods and goddesses. If we do not act, this pride will only grow stronger."

In the Council Hall of the Higher Gods

Meanwhile, in the Council Hall, the higher gods—Vishnu, Vijaya, Kalavira, Lakshmi, Vaibhavi, and Alakshmi—had already gathered to discuss the situation.

Lakshmi sighed softly, her golden eyes filled with sadness. "It is painful to see my devotees at odds with the devotees of my brothers. We are all part of the same divine family. Prosperity, wisdom, and balance cannot exist without protection, victory, and resilience."

Vaibhavi, ever serene, added, "The devotees have allowed their pride to blind them. They must be reminded that true wisdom lies in understanding the unity between the forces of the cosmos."

Kalavira, seated in his shadows, spoke in a low voice. "Pride has always been a dangerous force. It disrupts balance and leads to chaos. We must act quickly before this conflict spreads further."

Vijaya, his voice strong and resolute, agreed. "This is not a battle that can be won through force. The devotees must understand that the gods and goddesses are not in competition. They must learn that we work together to maintain the harmony of the universe."

Vishnu, ever the preserver of balance, raised his hand. "I suggest we intervene together. Let us go down to the mortal realm and remind our devotees of the unity of the divine. We will show them that it is not a question of which gods are greater, but that we are all part of the same cosmic order."

The Divine Intervention

With their decision made, the gods and goddesses descended to the mortal realm, appearing before the warring devotees in a radiant display of light and power. The moment the gods appeared, the fighting stopped, and the devotees fell to their knees in awe.

Vishnu, his voice calm but commanding, spoke first. "You have allowed pride and ego to divide you. Do you not see that we are all connected? Without Lakshmi's blessings of wealth, what would I have to preserve? Without Vaibhavi's wisdom, how would Vijaya find victory? Without Alakshmi's balance, how would Kalavira ensure the cycles of time and fortune remain intact?"

Lakshmi stepped forward, her golden radiance soothing the hearts of the devotees. "I bless you with wealth, but that wealth must be protected. It is not a question of who is greater. Each of us has a role to play, and we work together to ensure the prosperity of the cosmos."

Vijaya raised his sword high. "Victory is not achieved alone. It is through the unity of the gods and goddesses that true triumph is won."

Kalavira, his voice a quiet whisper of wisdom, added, "Without balance, without understanding the trials and adversities that shape your lives, you would fall into chaos. Respect the roles of each god and goddess, for together we maintain the harmony of all things."

The devotees, humbled by the words of the gods and goddesses, realized their mistake. They had allowed pride to cloud their judgment, forgetting that the divine forces were not meant to be pitted against each other.

The Peaceful Resolution

With the intervention of the gods and goddesses, peace was restored between the devotees of Trivijaya Mandir and Trilakshaya Mandir. They understood now that the brothers and sisters were not in competition but worked together to maintain the balance of the universe.

In a show of unity, the leaders of both temples came together and offered joint prayers to the gods and goddesses, acknowledging their interconnectedness. Vishnu, Vijaya, Kalavira, Lakshmi, Vaibhavi, and Alakshmi smiled upon them, pleased that the lesson of unity had been learned.

From that day forward, the temples continued to thrive, but now with a deeper understanding that each aspect of the divine was essential for the harmony of the universe.

Thus, the conflict between the devotees was resolved, not through violence, but through the wisdom and intervention of the gods and goddesses themselves, reminding all that true power lies in unity and balance.
