"Cady," Harold called as she ran into the building. He tsked and jumped down.
"You too?" Cato called.
"I'll meet you outside; get to safety," Harold said without looking back.
He ran inside, searching for Cady but was interrupted by a group of undead knights. He raised his hand and created a magic circle but quickly changed his mind, fearing he might mistakenly hit Cady since he had no idea where she was.
He had to run and avoid them rather than perform any large attacks. He used small spells to strike at them, but it wasn't enough to deal with a large group.
He levitated above them, moved away, and landed behind them before reaching the stairs, but the undead falling from the stairs made him turn back and go in another direction.
"Elton," he heard Cady's voice. He turned to follow it but was blocked by another group.
He went around and found the cafeteria of the building. He locked the door behind him and looked around; there were a few undead inside that wouldn't take much effort to deal with.
He peeped outside and saw that the door was slowly being flooded with undead. They were pounding on it and would break it down if they continued.
He heard movement behind him and raised his hand, but then he saw someone standing there. She looked exhausted and beaten up, but she was a knight.
"Who are you?" she whispered.
"I happen to have the same question. Who'd like to go first?" he asked.
"You're a mage? Why are you here? This place fell a long time ago," she said, leaping toward him with her broken sword.
"No undead can do that," he pointed at her sword. She looked at it and sighed.
"Undead? That's what you call them?" she asked. "It wasn't an undead; it was a sorceress, or whatever she called herself. She poisoned everyone and killed them. She was looking for Elton Hall for some reason, but whatever it was didn't seem good," she said, fighting hard to stay awake.
The pounding on the door didn't help matters. The girl looked at the door with drowsy eyes and tried to walk but then passed out.
"Hey," Harold called, rushing to her. He looked back and saw that the door was close to breaking. He lifted her up and carried her into the kitchen, dropping her in the back.
He walked out and looked for a window. He saw one and looked outside. The area was relatively clear, so he went back and carried the girl. He was running toward the window when the door finally gave way and broke. He quickened his pace and reached the window. He raised his hand and released a large fire attack to blow up the wall opposite them before jumping out. All the undead ran toward the noise, giving him a chance to slip out.
He ran outside through the trees, trying to avoid the undead. He ran quickly enough that the undead couldn't catch up.
"Harold," Cato called the moment he reached them. He looked at the person who was passed out in his arms and gave Cato a questioning look.
"I found her inside. I have to go back and look for Cady," he said, dropping her on the ground in their small camp. "Tend to her wounds," he said, turning to leave.
"Can't you treat her?"
"I'm not a healer," he replied.
"But…"
"I know a little healing magic; as long as the wound isn't serious, I can help," Alvin said, and the two of them looked at him in shock.
"I'll…" Harold said, turning to leave, but a group of undead interrupted his plans. "Can you heal her while moving?"
"It'd take longer," Alvin replied.
"No problem," he said, helping them gather their things quickly. The horde was coming from the direction of the building.
They mounted their horses and ran off quickly, with Harold watching their rear. Alvin did his best to heal the injured person on the unstable horse while more undead appeared in front of them, causing the horse to turn quickly in the other direction.
"We'll have to head back," Harold said.
"But this place is blocked," Cato replied, shooting an arrow.
"This place will soon be flooded; we have to get to Cady now before we're cut off," he said.
"Can't you blow the place up?"
"I can't; I'm out of magic energy. If I do any more grand attacks, my body won't be able to handle it," he replied.
"Your… I mean, Alvin, can you keep going?" Cato asked, and Alvin nodded in response.
They went around, luring the undead away before circling back to head toward Cady. There were just a few undead on the way that they could easily avoid. Harold cast small attacks, creating multiple magic circles to make precise strikes.
"Weren't you out of magic?" Cato asked.
"Yeah?"
"That didn't look like the attack of someone who is out of magic," he said.
"I said I can't do grand attacks like destroying everything. I didn't say I couldn't do anything at all," he replied and rode faster.
"Mages," Cato mumbled.
"I'm done; I'll need to give her some medicine later," Alvin said.
"When we rest," Harold replied, clearing everything in their path. Cato shot arrows nonstop until they finally reached the open field.
"Turn around," they heard someone shout.
"Bean," Cady shouted, and her horse ran to her immediately. The group stopped to look but was shocked to see an even larger horde approaching them. "Go," Cady shouted.
"Go, go, go!" Harold shouted to the others but stopped when he noticed two other people with Cady. He sighed loudly and jumped down. He ran at top speed and grabbed them, putting them on the horse before climbing behind Cady's.
They had two groups on either side of them with not much space to run.
