"I dunno who you are, bastard. But you sure got the guts to launch a raid on us! I'm gonna dismember you alive!"
A skinny but weirdly muscled guy started yelling angrily at me with a reddened face and veins popping up on his forehead, making his spittle fly all over the place. A skinny macho man? Anyway, his body looked really weird. It's like he had zero body fat but only had muscles. He then rushed toward me while wielding a dangerous-looking club-like weapon.
"Hiyaaaaaah! You're miiiiiiiine!"
I held my breath and entered 'bullet time'. Everything around me began moving extremely slowly. Meanwhile, the skinny macho man was running at me with a speed impossible for a regular human body to reach.
The sound of sparks echoed in my ears. The source of the sound was the Tesla gun I was wielding. The skinny macho was hit square in the chest by a pale electric bolt and fell. At least, that's what was supposed to happen.
"Hmm?"
"Kuhaaa...! It's useless!"
"You have protection against electric attacks?"
Since that didn't seem to have done any damage to him, I fired the Tesla gun again in a consecutive burst.
"Wha–!? Hold o–!?"
"Not a chance, buddy."
The skinny macho ended up falling after five shots. Smoke rose from his entire body, and he looked pretty charred. Was this guy still alive? Well, if he's dead, then he's dead. But he didn't look like your regular small-fry, so I better take some precautions just in case.
"Oi, you guys picked up some kind of handcuffs earlier, right? Put them on this guy."
"Gotcha, Bro."
Sieg took out a high-tech-looking pair of handcuffs from his bag and restrained the skinny macho with them as smoke continued to rise from the latter's body. So, he really was alive? This guy's tenacity was on par with those tiny black things that crawl around everywhere.
"Is this guy the leader of this place?"
"I wonder. We don't know much about the heads of their organization, Bro. However, I think I've seen this guy a few times before. I think he's one of their executives."
"I see. I hope his head wasn't fried so we can still get info out of him."
I did shoot him five times with my Tesla gun, so I hope his brain was still okay even after all that. Well, we'll just have to see later.
"Go and sort out the data storage devices, Heinz."
"Got it, Big Bro... What about you?"
"I'm no good with that sort of stuff. I'm more of a combat specialist."
"I see..."
I mostly leave those kinds of things to Mimi and Mei. I don't have trouble using machines in daily life, but hacking, data analysis, and all that sort of stuff was beyond me.
"Oops. It looks like we have company."
The place we were currently in was a large room in a corner of the facility's second floor. The only way out was through the entrance we came in from earlier, but I heard multiple footsteps getting closer to our position, and they weren't giving off IFF signals.
"Three... no, four people. Four is a bit troublesome. Can't be helped."
The Tesla gun wasn't good with rapid-fire, so if all four came at me at the same time, one might get through while I was dealing with the others. If there were only two opponents, I could have taken cover and dealt with them steadily, but it was a bit troublesome with four opponents.
"Hurry and hide."
"Right!"
"We can give you some cover fire, Bro."
"No need."
I fired my Tesla gun at the four guys who burst into the room armed with laser guns and rifles. I then stuck out my left hand.
"Get lost."
For a brief moment, the space in front of the assailants got distorted, and then BOOM! A shockwave rippled through the room along with an explosive noise. The assailants were hit directly by the shock wave and were blown straight out of the room.
I then chased after them and mercilessly fired my Tesla gun. I could hear them groaning in pain, and I made sure to fire a shot at each one of them.
"Bro, what was that...?"
"It's a prototype directed-energy weapon installed in my power armor. Cool, right?"
"It was amazing!"
That's actually a complete lie, and that blast was the result of my psionic ability training with Kugi. It was something like a Force push. I'm turning more and more like a J*di knight, but it can't be helped. It is what it is after all.
According to Kugi, considering the nature and scale of my abilities, something like that was only comparable to a light sneeze, but since it can be used at a practical level, I was quite fine with it already. By the way, unlike a J*di knight, I didn't have the ability to grab things from afar and pull them towards me using psychic force. Well, at least for now anyway.
The only thing I could do now was generate a powerful 'force' to push stuff away. If anything, it's more similar to the ability learned by a certain Dragonborn. If I get better at using my powers, I might eventually learn to grab and pull stuff towards me.
"Bro, should I hand over the data caches I gathered to those guys from earlier?"
"Please do. Unlocking them and analyzing the data is a bit too much for you, right?"
"I do have some contacts who can help, but it'll take money and effort, so if those guys are gonna take care of it, then great."
"Go ahead then."
"Hey Bro, look at what I found."
Sieg brought a bag filled with something from a corner of the room. Inside it were lots of medicine packets containing pink-colored powder.
"The heck is this?"
"These are the drugs those guys have been spreading around."
"Oh, I see... I suppose I should bring back a sample for analysis."
"Is one bag enough?"
"You better not try using this stuff, okay? I'm not bailing you out if you guys get infected again."
"Eh? What do you mean by that, Bro?"
"According to our resident doctor, if the mushrooms used as raw materials for making this stuff are poorly processed, there's a good chance of them becoming an infection source. Oh, and those mushrooms are most likely the source of the pandemic running rampant inside this colony."
"Seriously...?"
Sieg hurriedly placed the bag on top of a table and backed away. He also took some packets out of his pocket and tossed them into the bag. If I hadn't warned him, this guy would probably have happily used the stuff himself.
I don't really think we'd obtain any more meaningful data if I took a sample back, but they might still be of use, so I'll just bring a bag with me. Who knows. Maybe Dr. Shouko can find a way to render the mushrooms themselves harmless or something. They would still be troublesome even if that happens though.
"Seriously. It looks like friendlies are coming over this time around... Have they finished cleaning up?"
The Ninja armor was picking up friendly IFF signals heading toward our position. Now, all that was left was to hand over the remaining criminals who were currently paralyzed from electric shock and the data caches. After that, this raid can be considered done.
However, I wonder what's up with that resilient fellow who managed to resist getting shot with my Tesla gun once? I heard that people who were high on drugs could sometimes still come at you with a knife even after getting shot with a handgun back on Earth. But compared to the taser used on Earth, the Tesla gun was several levels more powerful.
To begin with, the human body normally wasn't capable of remaining functional after getting blasted by a powerful electric current. One couldn't just endure that kind of attack with guts. Maybe one could endure if they were fat enough and said body fat acted as an insulator or something, but that guy was skinny as heck. Maybe it was the result of some type of enhancement surgery, or maybe he was wearing some sort of protective equipment.
Maybe he even had a special constitution that was highly resistant to electric shock. Or perhaps he was someone who actually felt good when getting shocked. Come to think of it, he was wielding some sort of electric club earlier, wasn't he? Maybe he often played around with it in his spare time. You never know.
"Are we done here, Bro?"
"I suppose. Get ready to hand over the items we found."
"Got it."
In any case, we need to first extract information. We can extract them from the data caches or pull them out of the captive's brains, but both methods will take some time. In any case, we should be done for now.
