Chapter 2 - 2: The Roots of Ash

After Mandy was born, he was given the name Ash Ketchum by Delia. At the same time, a child named Gary Oak was also born!

Although Ash had the mind of an adult, he couldn't control his body's basic needs. Under Delia's careful care, Ash grew up quickly. During this time, Ash also learned about his background and Delia's history.

Delia was originally from Pallet Town. She grew up there and was also an orphan. She was named Delia by the orphanage director. Delia was very beautiful and had many admirers, but they were all turned down by her kind and gentle smile.

Then a traveler came along, named Mitch Wright. The first time he saw Delia, he was captivated by her gentle nature and virtuous appearance.

Mitch pursued Delia relentlessly. After much effort, Delia was finally moved by his persistence. Unfortunately, good times didn't last. As a member of the Wright family, Mitch couldn't marry Delia.

Delia didn't mind because she was just an orphan, and this world didn't enforce monogamy. She only asked for a simple identity, the role of a concubine, and that was enough for her.

However, reality is rarely so simple. The Wright family looked down on Delia's background, leading to a dramatic situation. Mitch's position in the Wright family was as an elder, while the clan leader was his brother, John Wright. The two brothers were close, but John didn't have the authority to decide Mitch's marriage.

Under pressure from the other elders, the two brothers had no choice but to comply. Mitch was forced to abandon Delia. Half a year after Ash was born, Mitch came back to Pallet Town to try to take Delia back to the Wright family.

When Ash was born, John Wright had just secured his position as head of the clan with Mitch's help. Additionally, John's son, Evan Wright, was a candidate for a high-ranking position, which solidified John's leadership.

Once his brother had gained control of the family, Mitch wanted to bring Delia back, but she refused. After Mitch abandoned her, Delia's heart had already given up.

Delia didn't blame Mitch for leaving her, but she couldn't forgive him for abandoning her while pregnant, even though she knew he had reasons. Her heart was hardened, and Mitch left Pallet Town for good. Delia raised Ash on her own, though her life was difficult.

However, another dramatic twist occurred!

It turned out that Delia wasn't really an abandoned orphan. One day, during a checkup at the hospital, Delia met Professor Oak from the same town. When Professor Oak saw Delia, he was shocked!

Professor Oak was a renowned Pokémon researcher, and the Oak family was very influential. The reason he was so surprised was that Delia looked almost identical to his late wife.

Many years ago, Professor Oak was a middle-aged man dedicated to his research. At that time, his wife was pregnant with their second child, a daughter, according to the ultrasound results—Ash's mother, Delia.

When Delia's mother was about to give birth, Team Rocket, a notorious criminal organization, targeted Professor Oak's research and kidnapped Delia's mother.

In his fury, Professor Oak marshaled all his resources to locate her, leading to Team Rocket suffering a major defeat.

During the conflict, Delia's mother managed to escape, though she was in labor and couldn't get far. She was found by the police near Viridian City and taken to the hospital, where she gave birth to Delia. Tragically, she passed away from exhaustion after the birth.

Delia was left an orphan and was adopted by the orphanage director. By the time Professor Oak found out, all he had was his wife's body, with no trace of Delia.

Although he searched tirelessly, he couldn't find her because the director who adopted Delia lived in a very remote area. After Delia grew up, she left the orphanage and moved to Pallet Town.

Despite the fact that Professor Oak also lived in Pallet Town, their paths had never crossed, even though they were only an hour's walk apart. He had visited the village a few times but always missed Delia.

This time, upon seeing her, Professor Oak was stunned and immediately revealed the truth about her identity. After confirming Delia was an orphan, Professor Oak performed a DNA test, which confirmed that Delia was indeed his daughter.

After learning about her background, Delia changed her name to Delia Oak. Professor Oak was furious, especially at the Wright family. The two families nearly went to war because of this, but under Delia's persuasion, Professor Oak eventually agreed to let things go.

When the elders of the Wright family learned about Delia's true identity, they were shocked. If they had known, they wouldn't have stopped Mitch and Delia's relationship. But now, it was too late to change anything.

With Delia's care, Ash grew up quickly. Five years passed in the blink of an eye. By the age of five, Ash displayed a remarkable talent that made Professor Oak very proud. Ash absorbed Pokémon knowledge quickly, impressing everyone around him.

As for the relationship between Ash and Gary, the two were practically like brothers. Unfortunately, since they were born on the same day, it was difficult to tell who was the elder, so they just called each other by their names.

Though they argued daily, they were still close. However, Ash was much more mature compared to Gary. Over time, their personalities became even more distinct. Ash worked diligently at his studies, while Gary, spoiled by his upbringing, was carefree and lavish.

This created a stark contrast between the two, but Gary was aware of his own limits and didn't step out of line. To avoid falling behind Ash, Gary spent much of his time studying as well.

Professor Oak was thrilled by this development, as any grandfather would be proud to see his grandsons grow into successful individuals.

A/N: Just for the sake of it, I'll be keeping Ash's full name as Ash Ketchum
