Chapter 3 - Chapter 2: Knocks on a Rainy Night

Heaven Dou Empire, Heaven Dou City.

Outside, the heavy rain pounded against the roof, creating an endless rustling sound. The faint streetlights cast shadows on the ground, making the swaying branches in the wind appear blurry and eerie. The late night was silent, with cold winds cutting through the space like they wanted to tear it apart. On a small road near the outskirts of Heaven Dou City, a lone figure quietly moved through the dark alleys. The person wore a long black cloak, the hood covering their face, leaving only a pair of bright eyes that seemed to conceal something incredibly important.

The small basket the person carried emitted the soft breathing of a child, seemingly too accustomed to the noise of the outside world. This child, around two years old, lay in the basket, eyes closed, unaware of the changes around them. The mysterious figure continued walking until stopping in front of a small house near the outskirts, its wooden door tightly shut. The person knocked lightly on the door, three soft knocks echoing in the quiet, rainy night.

"It's time…" the figure whispered, eyes glimmering with hesitation beneath the cloak, but quickly steeled themselves, revealing no further emotion. After placing the basket at the door, the mysterious figure turned and vanished into the cold night.

Inside the house

A beautiful woman with a slim figure, wearing a rather sheer nightgown, emerged from the bathroom. Her long, reddish-pink hair, slightly damp from a recent shower, flowed gently down her back as she prepared to head to bed.

Suddenly, the sound of knocking startled her, causing her to pause in confusion.

'It was late at night, and with the heavy rain outside, who could possibly be knocking at this hour?'

Pushing aside her confusion, she quickly grabbed a coat from a nearby rack and hastily threw it on before moving to open the door.

Outside, the rain continued to pour, but there was no one at the door. Her gaze quickly scanned the area, and then settled on the small basket placed at her doorstep. The basket was wrapped in a translucent veil, and inside lay a very adorable child, fast asleep. The child, wrapped in a thin cloth, looked peaceful and calm. Next to the child was a carefully folded letter.

The woman—more precisely, Yuanen Yueqing—frowned, her crimson eyes reflecting her confusion.

"Who would leave a child here, in the middle of such a rainy night?" she thought, gazing at the abandoned child with pity. Obviously, just by looking at it, you can tell that this child has been abandoned by his parents.

"What a pitiful child…"

She sighed with sympathy before bending down and reaching out to pick up the child, when her hand touched the protective barrier, it quickly disappeared. She hugged the child, wrapping it in a thick blanket that she took out from her Soul Tool and walked back into the house while gently closing the door.

Yueqing held the sleeping baby in one hand while the other hurriedly opened the letter left in the basket to read. While she was reading the letter, a soft voice from behind startled her.

"Mom… What are you doing?"

A four-year-old girl with messy reddish-pink short hair walked out of the bedroom while rubbing her sleepy eyes. She was Yuanen Yehui, Yuanen Yueqing's daughter. She was sleeping in her room when she was awakened by the sound of knocking and opening the door.

Yueqing smiled gently as she turned to look at her adorable, sleepy daughter.

"Come here, Yehui. There's something I want you to see."

Yehui heard her mother calling her so she quickly approached and as soon as she saw the baby in her mother's arms, her sharp red eyes that were in a sleepy state quickly widened in surprise.

"Who is that? Mom! Why is there a baby here?"

"I don't know."

Yueqing shook her head, holding her chin with one hand while the other cradled the sleeping baby.

"Someone left this baby at our doorstep with a letter. I've read through it, and well… they want me to take care of him for the time being."

"But… why you?" Yehui wondered and asked her mother with a confused face.

"I don't know either."

Yueqing gently responded to his daughter while placing the sleeping baby on a nearby sofa.

"But I don't think we can just leave this child alone. He's so young and fragile. Look at him, isn't his face so cute?"

Yehui approached the baby, her curious eyes unable to look away. And as her hand gently touched the baby's cheek, a strange sensation suddenly overwhelmed her. Her head spun, as if struck by a hammer, causing her to collapse to the floor, clutching her head and gasping for air. Sweat poured down her forehead as a stream of distant, yet familiar, memories surged into her mind.

"Yehui!" Yueqing cried out in alarm, rushing to her daughter's side. "What's wrong?"

Yehui tightly shut her eyes, trying to calm herself. In that brief moment, she saw a series of vague images and memories of a teenage boy's grave, of a strange man she had never met named Yechen, of a life and death battle she had never experienced.

"I'm okay… It's just… a weird feeling…"

Yehui exhaled slowly, quickly regaining her composure.

Yueqing, still worried, looked at her daughter, but Yehui simply shook her head and glanced at the baby lying on the sofa with a strange expression.

"Don't worry, Mom. I'm fine now."

Two years later

Time passed quickly, and it had been two years since the baby was adopted by Yuanen Yueqing. The once-quiet house was now always filled with laughter. The baby, who was two years old back then, was now four, constantly running and jumping around the house.

He had been given the name Tingfei, meaning "Flying High." That was not the name Yueqing gave him, but the name mentioned by the mysterious person in the letter placed with the basket containing him. According to Yueqing's deduction, that mysterious person could be his biological mother.

The days passed happily, as if they were a real family. After that night, Yuanen Yehui had grown closer to her adoptive brother, while Yueqing continued to care for both children with boundless love.

Now that Yehui was six years old, it was time for her to awaken her Martial Soul, a significant moment that would shape much of her future and determine whether she could become a Soul Master.

In the past, Martial Soul awakenings were organized and conducted free of charge by the Spirit Hall, with Soul Masters traveling even to remote villages to help children awaken. However, after the collision with the Sun Moon Continent and the subsequent war, the Spirit Hall ceased to provide free awakenings, as the major factions were caught in conflict. Now, children had to travel to large cities and pay for awakening services, with greedy individuals exploiting this situation. This dark period lasted until the establishment of the Federation, which took over the responsibility of conducting free Martial Soul awakenings. The Federation also provided a stipend for Soul Masters, much like the Spirit Hall once did, though with one difference: Soul Masters over 30 years old will no longer receive benefits because if you are over 30 years old and still not earning money, you are too useless.

After breakfast, the three of them headed to the Federation's branch office in Heaven Dou City for Yehui's Martial Soul awakening. Yuanen Tingfei felt both excitement and nervousness, unsure whether his sister would awaken her soul power.

Yuanen Yueqing led Yehui and Tingfei into the grand building. The bright lights of the place caused all three to shield their eyes for a moment. Since they had arrived early, there was almost no one else waiting for an awakening, so they went straight in without having to queue. The guards bowed their heads respectfully as Yueqing entered, their eyes reflecting a subtle reverence for reasons unknown.

"This is where you'll awaken your Martial Soul, Yehui. Are you ready?"

Yueqing smiled as she placed a hand on her daughter's shoulder.

Yehui nodded confidently, her fiery red eyes gleaming with determination.

"I've been ready for a long time."

So I decided to use idea 2 for Shrek Academy. With this idea, Shrek Academy will have existed since 1000 years ago and is currently the number 1 academy in Douluo Continent. I used this idea because Tang San, Huo Yuhao, Yechen and our male lead Yuanen Tingfei met early.

Finally I will add these girls to the Harem:

+ Ning Tian

+ Wu Feng

+ Mu Jin (Anyone know what her martial soul is?)

+ Wang Dong'er

+ Wang Qiu'er

+ Xiaoxiao

And Yeah... Tingfei will join Shrek Academy. As for the reason, it's quite simple.

1. He grew up in the Douluo Continent and Heaven Dou Empire, where Shrek Academy is most famous.

2. It's necessary for the plot and for him to meet girls, don't worry he won't leave Shrek anytime soon.

That's it. Have a nice day everyone! :D

By the way, everyone, let me ask you, at what age did Tang San and Huo Yuhao participate in the Elite Soul Master tournament?
