Tears streamed from his eyes as Klein ate the green vegetables he had never seen before. He savoured the taste, closing his eyes and fighting to stop himself from devouring his plate entirely.
"Are you alright?" Elanor asked, a cute frown quirking on her brows.
"Ah, I am not," he muttered, wiping away his tears as he ate more. It had been nearly five years since he had eaten something close to what could be called delicious.
The two elves exchanged a glance, unsure of what there was to cry about.
"It's just a simple dish," Siona muttered.
"He's weird," Elanor sighed.
For the last few years, he had been on the run, eating whatever he could find to fill his stomach. Even though the dish was simple—vegetables and salads cooked with butter and seasoning—it was enough to overwhelm his senses. It was as if he were getting water in a desert.
