Chapter 39 - Forbidden

Elowen bit her lips to stay alert as the sun barely dawned on the horizon, illuminating the desolate valley in dim light. Her shoulder still ached as she emerged from the catacomb to take shelter by the sides.

She noted that she was the first to come out. There was no one else around, but they would be arriving soon. The sunrise signalled the end of the test, and the instructors would be here shortly as well.

To keep herself occupied, she began calculating the points she would receive. Well, considering she had left most of her beast cores with Ki Lien, all she had with her were enough to pass the test.

She thought her cousin Maelora would take the largest share of the loot after she was forced to join the group. As it turned out, she was both right and wrong about that. Her cousin, as it turned out, was too proud to take poor trinkets from people she deemed beneath her.
