-Detective Frog Eyes POV-
I had just left the young man and was walking with the files in hand to Detective Naomasa Tsukauchi. While I wasn't entirely sure that "Ryou Sasaki " was who he claimed to be, he had seemed like an honest person.
As I was about to turn a corner, alarms suddenly blared to life. Groups of heroes and officers rushed toward the jail cells. I stopped one of the officers in his tracks.
"What's happening?!"
He glanced at me, panic in his eyes. "Someone attacked and killed the inmates in the cells!"
Without waiting for my response, the officer ran off. I immediately headed to the security room. Upon entering, I found other officers and detectives staring at the screens. Displayed on the monitors was footage of the young man I had interrogated not long ago walking into the cell block casually. We all watched as he spoke to prisoners, and then began killing them, one after the other.
"What a monster" someone muttered before retching into a nearby trash bin.
I couldn't help but agree.
-Ryou POV-
I managed to gather some information. One important piece was that the Shie Hassaikai were already aware that heroes were planning to raid them today. 'Did that happen in canon? Whatever, it doesn't matter.'
Did I feel bad for killing most of them? Not really. It was easy to distinguish who was truly a bad person and who wasn't. Half of the people in there were just unlucky individuals with mutation-based quirks.
As I walked away from the sniveling crowd, I came face-to-face with a group of heroes and police officers. I wasn't entirely sure when they realized I'd escaped or discovered that I'd been killing people, but here they were. 'How should I play this?' They probably thought I was a villain after what I did, and I guess, depending on how you looked at it, I was.
"Stand down, villain!" one of the heroes, who I didn't recognize, shouted at me.
"No."
Before they could react, I moved faster than they could process, knocking each one out with a swift chop to the neck. 'Seems like I'm much stronger than them.'
With the group unconscious, I left without another word. 'Time to get Eri.'
-Ryou's POV-
I walked for maybe an hour before arriving at the location the now deceased member had mentioned. Along the way, I passed a few officers, but none of them stopped me.
When I reached the compound, I summoned Muramasa. I wasn't going to waste time. Using my senses, I located the most terrified person here. It wasn't difficult, Eri stood out like a beacon of trauma.
Just as I unleashed a moderately strong "Cursed Slash" at the compound, demolishing most of it and carving a deep ravine through the ground showing the underground, I heard footsteps rushing behind me.
"What are you doing?!" someone yelled. Turning around, I came face-to-face with Sir Nighteye.
Without breaking eye contact, I responded. "Helping a scared little girl escape her demons."
Without waiting for a reply, I dashed off toward Eri. Along the way, members of Overhaul's gang tried to stop me, but they fell easily. 'I've had tougher fights with gods than this.'
Finally, I arrived in front of Overhaul and Eri. I wasn't interested in listening to any of his speeches about Quirks. Instead, I focused all of my bloodlust on him. I watched as he started coughing up blood, and then a second later, I heard a small pop come from him.
Eri, terrified and scared beyond belief, didn't know what to do. I knelt down on one knee. "Eri-chan, I know you won't believe me, but I'm not here to hurt you." She looked up at me, and it tugged at my heart. 'It's like looking at my little brother, so weak and fragile.'
"If you come with me, I promise no bad person will ever hurt you again. I'm very strong." I held out my hand toward her as I heard footsteps approaching from behind.
Eri hesitated but took small, cautious steps until she reached my open hand and grasped it. I pulled her into an embrace, holding her close. Just then, a group of heroes appeared, including a guy in yellow spandex, Rock Lock. And some heroes-in-training. The one who stood out the most was Deku, in his green costume. 'Why green?'
"Stop, villain!" one of the heroes shouted as I stood with Eri in my arms, her small body balled up against my chest.
"No" I replied calmly before unleashing a weak "Cursed Slash" at them.
While they were occupied with that, I took off at a pace comfortable for Eri, heading toward a different district, hoping it would give us enough time to talk.
Arriving in a different district by foot was easy enough, though Eri hadn't said a word the whole time. Stopping at a hotel and renting a room was just as simple.
After bathing both myself and Eri, she still remained silent. Now, Eri was sitting on the bed while I sat on the floor, leaning against the wall across from her, giving her space. "Eri-chan, my name is Ryou" I said, but there was still no response.
I frowned, stood up, and left the room. At the front desk, I asked if they knew of a place that sold candied apples. Once directed, I headed out, bought a couple, and returned.
When I got back to the room, Eri was still seated on the bed, unmoving. "Here, this is for you" I said, holding out a candied apple. She hesitantly and shyly accepted it. I sat back down across from her, leaning against the wall again.
Watching her nibble on the apple was both adorable and filled me with determination. 'I have to take her with me.'
I waited for her to finish the apple before handing her another one. This time, instead of sitting against the wall, I sat on the floor beside the bed near Eri. I reintroduced myself.
"My name is Ryou, and I'm here to take you away from all the bad people."
I waited, but after a few minutes of silence, I was about to get up and buy more candied apples when I finally heard her speak.
"I-I'm Eri."
Her voice was so quiet I almost missed it. I didn't turn towards her, just kept my tone gentle.
"Hello Eri. Would you like to come with me, or would you rather I take you to the heroes?"
