As he was lost in thought, the doorbell rang. It must be Luca. Leo got up to open the door.
When he pulled it open, he found the familiar figure of Luca, who was holding a tripod in one arm and had a camera slung around his neck, making him look a bit comical.
Leo took the tripod from him and swiftly unhooked the camera from his neck.
"I'm exhausted! Seriously, you owe me a meal for this," Luca complained as he strolled over to the sofa and flopped down into the very spot where Leo had been sitting moments ago.
"…Fine," Leo finally managed to squeeze out a word.
Luca looked confused and scratched his head. "Are you serious? Since when can you cook?"
Leo felt a bit perplexed. Why would asking for a meal imply he should cook? Weren't they all pretty well-off? They could just eat out!
"…Takeout," Leo replied tersely.
He was determined to keep his replies to a minimum, a challenge he seemed to have inherited after his soul had taken over Aaron's body, a condition he still couldn't quite shake off.
"Alright, fine. I'll have sakura cuisine," Luca said, opening an app to place the order.
"There isn't any," Leo said, his tone straightforward. It was almost moving how easily he could manage to convey two-word replies now.
Upon hearing that there was no food available, Luca dramatically sulked. "This is so unfair! There's nothing to eat? I'm starving! I'm so hungry! Boohoo…"
Leo raised an eyebrow, bemused. Was this really happening? Was he expected to indulge such childish antics?
Just then, Leo's phone rang—it was the delivery guy.
"Hello…" Leo answered and switched to speakerphone, instinctively handing the phone to Luca.
"Hey, yes, yes, it's Mr. A. Just press the doorbell, and it'll open," Luca said, adjusting his clothes that had been rumpled during his earlier tantrum as he went to answer the door.
Before long, the delivery guy arrived. Although the apartment complex was relatively upscale and didn't allow delivery personnel to use the elevator, it was fortunate that he lived on the second floor, so the delivery guy quickly made it up the stairs.
"Why did you choose KCF? Two family buckets! Ha, you didn't forget about me!" Luca exclaimed, behaving as if he were right at home, rubbing his hands together in eager anticipation of the feast.
Leo had indeed not forgotten him. In his memories, the original owner of his current body had only one friend—this little blondie—so he couldn't help but feel a touch of nostalgia.
Leo glanced disapprovingly at Luca, who was getting grease all over his hands. He pulled a small bag from the bottom of the takeout box, opened it, and put on a pair of gloves before leisurely starting to eat.
It had been a while since he had indulged in this type of food. After all, as a movie star, he had to maintain his figure.
After finishing the meal, Leo handed the trash to Luca, who began to protest again, his objections echoing off the walls like a persistent alarm. With no sympathy, Leo ushered him out of the apartment, practically shoving him through the door as if he were a reluctant houseguest who had overstayed his welcome.
Now,the world finally fell silent.
Standing by the floor-to-ceiling window, Leo began to contemplate life…
Borrowing a body was still a surreal experience, he mused, as he wandered into the bathroom.
He hadn't taken a close look at his new face yet. Standing in front of the bathroom mirror, he pushed aside his long bangs and began to scrutinize his features.
Hmm… His facial structure was sharp and well-defined, exuding an air of intelligence. The eyebrows were ordinary, but his eyes were a rare sight—slender phoenix eyes that added a touch of chilliness to his otherwise handsome face. His lips were standard thin.
However, the complexion was a bit pale. No, it seemed like the entire person had a certain pallor to him.
…Was this the legendary cool-toned skin? Leo's original skin tone had been slightly tanned; he had never been this pale, not even at his lightest. He felt a mix of emotions, half-jokingly lamenting the change.
After grimacing at himself in the mirror for a while, Leo freshened up and prepared for bed.
Leo's inner thoughts: Damn it, switching bodies feels like using someone else's things when brushing my teeth and washing my face. But fundamentally, it's not—this is so bizarre. I'll switch everything up tomorrow.
Sleeping…
Early the next morning, Leo woke up and picked up his phone to scroll through ChirpNet, remembering that today was "his" funeral…
Ah, he really wanted to go, so he decided to just rush there. The original owner of this body didn't have a license and didn't own a car, likely because he struggled with social anxiety and avoided situations that required interaction. So, he would have to call for a ride again.
