In the sky, Vex stood inside the Quinjet's cabin, watching the speedboats leave.
"You're just letting them go?" Natasha asked.
"Yeah, that green-eyed girl clearly has a thing for you." Lewis added with a bit of regret.
Natasha glanced at Lewis, deep in thought. Green eyes? Lewis had never interacted with Blink before, so she must have noticed them purely with her enhanced vision. Her evaluation of the KW89 Enhancement Serum rose even further.
While the two women had their questions, Vex was rather nonchalant.
"Even though I need to build a clan, it doesn't have to be anyone in particular," he said. "Choosing a partner, like Lewis, should be based on mutual willingness. Forcing someone into a relationship would only create resentment, leading to unrest within my clan. In the end, it would only hurt the women I care about."
His sincerity touched Lewis, her expression softened.
— Her man may not be monogamous, but his love for her was undivided.
Natasha remained expressionless.
— So, the only reason you're holding back is because I'm not one of your women?
Ignoring their inner thoughts, Vex turned to Natasha. "Natasha, I'd like to understand more about your world in a systematic way."
"Alright." Natasha nodded. "Why not come to our S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters? It has the most comprehensive resources in the world, and we can also help you build a proper ride."
"Sounds good."
Receiving the signal, Barton piloted the Quinjet towards Washington.
Vex settled back into his seat.
Polaris and Blink?
But compared to them... after realizing how "complex" this world was, many more figures flashed through Vex's mind! The Marvel Cinematic Universe aside, there were also powerful women from the X-Men like Jean Grey (Phoenix) and Storm, as well as Wonder Woman and Supergirl from the DC Universe...
These were truly formidable women!
Marrying just one of them could easily net an S-tier reward!
And beyond that, the existence of multiple worlds meant access to even more "resources." Things like Mother Boxes**, **Compound V, Kryptonian spacecrafts...
Vex urgently needed to learn more about this world and compare it with his own knowledge to maximize his benefits!
As for Lorna... her personality matched her strong-willed demeanor. She wasn't someone he could win over as quickly as Lewis. This time, it was more about making an introduction—there would be plenty of opportunities later.
"Boom—"
A sudden explosion interrupted his thoughts.
"Natasha, what's going on?"
Before she could answer, Vex looked out through the cockpit window to see a Boeing 737, its left engine trailing smoke.
Then...
"Boom—"
The plane's right engine also exploded into flames, causing Lewis to let out a scream!
The Boeing 737, now completely without power, began to glide slowly toward the ground.
Lewis grabbed Vex's arm. "Vex, go help them!"
He blinked, feeling a bit eager. Lifting a plane like Superman? It was something he wanted to try! Though he didn't have a biological force field like Superman, he did have the Rooster Talisman
"Barton, open the hatch. I'll check it out."
Lewis kissed him and obediently let go. Vex flew out of the cabin, accelerating toward the Boeing 737. At 6'2", he looked tiny next to the 125-foot-long plane.
Through the windows, he saw the passengers staring at him in a mix of shock and hope.
Vex tried using the Rooster Talisman to envelop the Boeing 737 with telekinesis, but it failed. The plane was simply too large.
Even if he could lift part of it, telekinesis alone likely wouldn't support the aircraft, and the plane's materials couldn't handle such uneven force.
The best option would be to move the passengers to the rear and remove most of the plane's weight before trying to lift it.
"Still far behind Superman," he muttered.
However, there was a simpler solution. Flying up to the 737, he placed his hand on it, activating the Horse Talismans "restoration" power. Instantly, the two exploded engines were restored, and the plane regained its power.
The problem was solved.
Inside, the passengers erupted into cheers! But suddenly, Vex heard a voice.
"Nicely done!"
Vex was startled. He turned to see a woman in a mini skirt, with big, wavy hair and long legs in black stockings.
It was Supergirl, Kara.
In the story, she was Superman Clark's cousin, meant to protect him, but after being trapped in the Phantom Zone, she arrived on Earth 24 years late, finding Clark already grown.
"I was nearby when you arrived," Kara explained. "I was a bit busy, so I couldn't get here sooner. Thanks for handling it."
"Well, I should thank you for not shooting me down," Vex joked. "I'm Vex, from the M78 Nebula."
"You can call me Kara, Kara Danvers, from Krypton, living in Michigan."
Kara extended her hand confidently. As usual, Vex only shook half.
As they finished, Kara's eyes lit up with excitement. "Care for a fight? I can sense you're pretty strong."
Vex's interest was piqued. Against Clark, he wouldn't stand a chance, but Kara—slightly weaker—might be fair game!
But a fight on their first meeting? He didn't want to spoil the mood.
"How about a race?" Vex suggested. "I'm heading to S.H.I.E.L.D. HQ. You know where it is?"
For someone with super-hearing like Kara, this information wasn't much of a secret.
"That way," Kara pointed east. "About 900 kilometers."
Vex nodded in understanding.
He used his Golden City power, pulling out a piece of paper, quickly folding it into an origami crane with telekinesis, and imbuing it with the Rat Talisman, bringing it to life.
"Go tell Lewis I'll be waiting for them at S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters."
The crane nodded like a person, then flapped its wings and flew towards the nearby Quinjet.
"Interesting ability," Kara remarked.
"A small trick," Vex smiled. "Shall we start?"
"I'll give the signal."
Kara's eyes glowed red, firing a blast of heat vision towards the ground.
"Boom—"
The signal flared up, and both of them disappeared from their spots, leaving behind only two afterimages!
