"WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY MIA HAS DISAPPEARED WITHOUT ANY TRACE, HUH?! YOU KNOW SHE SHOULD ALWAYS BE UNDER THE SUPERVISION, RIGHT?! WHY THE FUCK DO I HIRE YOU ALL FOR?!"
Enzo's furious shout sounded like thunder rumbling in the ears of the bodyguards tasked with watching Mia every time Enzo had to go out to finish his own business. They could only bow their heads, accepting their boss's anger, which they deserved.
But Mia would usually stay obediently in her apartment whenever Enzo went out. Who could have guessed that the girl would sneak away even though they were patrolling her every minute?
"Then have you found her now?!" Enzo asked, still with his growl. The bodyguards could only swallow their saliva nervously. Their boss would not like what they were going to say next.
"W-we haven't been able to track her whereabouts, Boss. The heavy rain is hindering our search, and the CCTV footage only shows Miss Mia leaving through one of the alleys behind the building wearing all-covered clothes and sunglasses not long after you left."
BAM!
Enzo had just roughly smashed the ashtray on his living room table onto the floor below him. The man was annoyed and worried when he came home and couldn't find his sweet cousin anywhere.
"THEN WHY ARE YOU FUCKER STAND LIKE A FUCKING STUPID PERSON WHEN YOU COULD HAVE DONE SOMETHING ELSE?! SOMEONE QUICKLY TRACK HER PHONE'S GPS!" Enzo roared more annoyed when, instead of looking for Mia in any way, they would rather wait for Enzo's orders first.
The weather forecast said that it would rain soon. More than anyone, Enzo knew that Mia would become uncontrollable when she was alone and it started to rain. Enzo didn't want Mia to panic when she heard the sound of raindrops. He went home early for that, but the disappearance of his cousin now only made him worried to death.
"About that... sh-she didn't bring his cellphone, Boss."
CLACK!
A gun was suddenly pointed at the bodyguard's head as soon as he had finished answering Enzo's question. The man's face darkened even more as he wanted to kill all his incompetent bodyguards.
"YOU BETTER FIND HER IMMEDIATELY OR I'LL SHOOT YOU ALL!"
The room was instantly quiet as everyone hurriedly got out of the apartment occupied by Enzo and Mia before the man changed his mind. Enzo let out a rough sigh as he rubbed his face tiredly and sat back down on the sofa in his living room. That wasn't the first time Mia had gone out without telling him. Sometimes, Mia was unaware of the consequences of her actions and tried to sneak away as if she and the bodyguards guarding her were enemies.
The girl probably thought they had only locked her up in their large building all this time. But more than anything, Enzo just wanted Mia to be safe from any threat that could harm her. Introducing her to the public was already inviting great danger. Once his enemies knew that Mia was his most important person, it would be difficult for Enzo to let her do what she wanted while secretly protecting her. Enzo didn't want to scare Mia by telling her directly how dangerous it was to live under his family name. They lived on the other side of the dark world. Mia's bright light would only attract many bad people if her existence was known by his enemies.
Enzo had made various efforts to protect Mia and let her continue living to pursue her dream as a singer. However, granting the girl's dream life while ensuring her safety and happiness was not easy for him to do. Enzo could only let Mia live in his protection without knowing that the world could be a very cruel place if they made the wrong move.
Enzo wanted to install a transmitter in the girl's body if Mia chose to act like this. With Enzo always knowing where his cousin was, Mia should always be able to be watched over by him. Besides, increasing the number of bodyguards never seemed to solve this problem. Or if he could, Enzo would even prefer Mia to just stay at home without having to do anything else. He could make Mia happy by giving her whatever she wanted as long as she obediently stayed at their house so that Enzo could ensure that Mia would always be safe under his protection.
Call Enzo unreasonable. But he just wanted his cousin to be safe and able to be looked after at all times. He didn't want to see someone hurt Mia again. The sad sight when they found Mia in a pitiful condition was only allowed to be felt once. He didn't want to see it again, no matter what.
Enzo bit his lip in annoyance when the sound of thunder began to be heard from a distance. The fear that something bad would happen to the sweet girl was increasingly gnawing at his mind. Enzo finally stood up. He was ready to tear the world apart to find his cousin.
Rain was a nightmare for Mia, and Enzo knew that very well.
