"David still won't come out of his room?"
Ruby asked anxiously when she could only hear reports from the servants that David refused to eat his food again. For days, the man had only stared blankly at the things in his room and did not hesitate to shoot anyone who dared to enter his room without his permission. Alka reported that her brother had not slept for days. David was drunk, delirious, and angry in that room. David really could not think straight anymore. The man sometimes talked to himself as if Anna was still in the room and was having a casual conversation with her.
Seeing her brother in a mess made Ruby regret leaving him so quickly to marry her lover. If she had still lived in the same house as David, Ruby thought she would have at least been able to prevent the tragedy from happening. She should have been able to guide her brother better so that David could show his feelings in a better way.
