Chapter 18 - How You Call Us Beggars!

Natalie heard a knock on the door and rushed out of the kitchen to answer it but she was shocked to see her parents standing right in front of her.

She wondered what they wanted this time around. Her mom threw her into a hug and patted her hair.

"I really miss you, my daughter." Hildah mentioned which made Natalie to chuckle. She knew her parents so well and they can't come to check on her simply because they missed her? There something else, definitely!

"You can't even offer us a seat, is that how to treat your parents? Where're your courtesies, Natalie?" Eduardo scolded her.

"Can you just tell me why you're here?" Natalie asked, impatiently.

"Where's your husband? We want to see him." Hildah said.

Natalie raised her brows at her, giving a secret eyeroll. She knows they wanted to ask for money again and she wasn't surprised. This isn't the first time they'd be doing this but it might be the last because she's going to give them a nice tongue lashing and put them on their place!

"My husband isn't available right now and you'll have to leave for your house. I'm afraid we don't have more money to give you." She said.

Hildah scoffed as she took a look at her husband before settling her gaze on Natalie again. Her daughter she trained with her money and sweat was sending her out of her house? What insolence!

She grabbed Natalie's hand and pushed her away out of annoyance. The lady managed not to fall and instead, staggered backwards.

"How dare you call us beggars!" Hildah yelled, she couldn't keep up with being nice anymore and flared up greatly. "We're your parents and we have the right to demand anything from you."

"Natalie, I'm just so disappointed in you. I think I should start to blame myself for getting you married to a wealthy man. What's the essence when you can't satisfy our needs." Eduardo joined in as he boiled in anger.

"You're elders and you should be able to identify an ATM machine when you see one, we don't run a bank here! Sebastian and I have our own lives to live and you shouldn't come here and throw unnecessary tantrums." Natalie fired back at them. She didn't mean to insult them but they're getting so much on her nerves.

Natalie's father landed a slap across her face and this time she fell to the floor.

"You should watch your mouth, we're your parents and you should treat us with utmost respect. Stop being mannerless!" He retorted.

Natalie held her cheeks and looked up with so much resentment in her eyes. "Respect are only given to people who deserve it and not vice versa. Too bad money can't buy shame, I would have purchased a whole lot for you both at least to stop all these rantings."

Eduardo made to slap her again but someone held his hand and when he turned around, he saw Sebastian standing behind him.

"Father-in-law, I wouldn't appreciate you coming into my house to bully my wife. I won't welcome any embarrassment not even form you guys." He defended Natalie and helped her up from the floor.

Eduardo and Hilda kept stammering like idiots and didn't know what to say. Finally, Hildah found her lost voice and spoke.

"We didn't mean to do that, Sebastian."

"You mean giving her a slap wasn't intentional? I wouldn't appreciate such dumb excuses from you. Apologise to my wife if you really want anything from me."

Hilda's mouth parted in surprise, what was he saying? He wanted them to

apologise to her? They were only teaching her morals.

"If you can't do that, please kindly take your leave." Sebastian declared when he saw the hesitation on their faces.

Natalie's parents quickly said an apology, they wouldn't want to decline his orders if they really wanted anything from him.

"We're sorry." They said simultaneously. Sebastian pressed a few buttons on his phone and in some seconds, Eduardo's phone buzzed. It was a two million naira alert.

"That should be enough to stop harassing my wife."

"I really appreciate your generosity. You're a very kind man." Eduardo shook his Sebastian's hand with enthusiasm.

"Natalie, please take good care of your husband." Hilda said happily while Natalie just eyed her. She shook her head at their shamelessness, they could even sell their souls just for money.

"And how much is my share? You wouldn't dare to cheat me." Hilda said to her husband a low voice as they proceeded towards the door.

"What do you mean? Who said I was going to split the money?" Eduardo rolled his eyes at her.

"You cheat! I accompanied you here and that wouldn't be without a commission. Do the rightful before I rip you apart in the presence of our son-in-law!" Hildah threatened her greedy husband.

"Natalie was right when she said you have no shame. It's so true."

"Hey! She was referring to the both of us so don't you dare try to justify yourself. I am a woman of dignity and you know that, is it until I mount on you before you know what's right? Eduardo we're sharing the money equally."

"Hildah, at least let's not disagrace ourselves here, at least wait until we are home then you can continue arguing."

The both of them exited the mansion and boarded a cab home but they never stooped the arguments.

"I'm so sorry my parents are a burden to you. You cater for my family's needs and also pay for my cousin's school fees. . You're doing a lot Sebastian." Natalie spoke.

"Don't mention Nat, it's my responsibility. I don't want them to trouble you." Sebastian replied calmly.

"Thank you Seb, you're the best." She hugged him, resting her head on his broad chest.

The welcoming party had already begun and the invitees started to arrive at the Thompson's family house. Coincidentally, Danica arrived the same time with Kaloyan and she waited for him to come down before she alighted.

As she hugged him, her parents also stepped down from the car and when they saw the both of them, they dnkked at eachother.

"Let's go, they'll join us later." Victor told Patricia who nodded and followed him in.

Kaloyan saw that Danica's parents parents had left already and pushed her away, his eyes blazing with anger.

"Aren't you supposed to prove to your parents that we're incompatible? You should be sensible enough to have figured out I don't want our marriage." He said.

"But I do, I really want us to get married. Kaloyan just imagine how cute our babies would be. If it's a girl, we'll name her Roseline but if it's a boy, he'll be…." Danica trailed off, trying to find a suitable name. "...Louis!" She added.

Kaloyan on the other hand was completely amazed at her stupidity. He was telling her that he disapproves the marriage and she's already picking names?

"I can see you've totally lost it, Danica. If you know what's good for you, just stay away from me. I hate the way you touch me anyhow." He warned.

She pouted. "Kay..you used to like it. Why don't you want it now?"

"Use your brain properly, that was two years ago when we were still together. I thought I was with the woman of my dreams, turns out the person I loved the most was only after fame."

"Kaloyan…."

He cut in before she could complete her words. "If you'd excuse me I'll like to take my leave now, having a conversation with you, disgusts me."

"Kaloyan, I love you, don't you see it? Why play too hard to get?" Danica said, making him to halt in his tracks.
