"So speak, tell your partner in crime what the problem is. We'll find a solution together!" Sara exclaimed. She leaned over the counter, holding her mug with both hands. Her beautiful black hair draped over her shoulder.
Celeste thought carefully about what she could and could not say but then decided that Sara would probably never know who she was talking about anyway. Celeste wiped the snot off her nose. "Do you have the time? I don't want to waste too much," she said.
"I did say I was busy, but I was busy studying, and I have spare time, so don't worry." Sara waved it off.
Celeste nodded. "So…" she started, "I'm engaged."
Sara clapped her hands. "Oooh! Congratulations!"
Celeste knew she meant well. The appropriate thing to do was smile and say thank you, but she couldn't bring herself to. Her heart felt so heavy that it was too hard to fake a reaction. So she just nodded in appreciation.
"What's wrong? You're not happy?" she asked.
