What followed was a series of arguments between Avond and Wouter while Celeste and Jade sat listening to the two men.
Avond insisted that Celeste was someone who hadn't even begun to understand what it meant to be a Shark, while Wouter argued that this was precisely why she was perfect for the job.
"Besides," he added, "they wouldn't be so far away that she couldn't scream for help if she needed it." Avond leaned back, holding his ground on the matter, while Celeste, who was listening to all of this, appreciated him for thinking of her safety first.
However, she wanted to know the fear of being in that water, not just from looking at it.
"Avond, I know I don't know a lot, but I have to start somewhere. So, please?" Celeste asked as if she were requesting permission to go on a vacation alone.
Avond sighed, tapping a finger on the table restlessly before he relented.
