Chapter 10 - Chapter Ten

Kale's POV

The drive to little angel's home was surprisingly fast albeit very confusing as we took a lot of turns. Nothing I couldn't memorise though.

We finally arrived at the front of a big gray and black duplex. The old iron gates left open creaked loudly due to rust as it was pushed back and forth by the wind and gave way to the brick drive/walk way littered with flower petals and dried leaves that led to a courtyard having a big, black and unfunctioning water fountain standing in the middle.

Bushes of black, white and red roses lined the pathway and some lilies and lilacs were scattered around the water fountain. In all, the house gave off the very weird, you-should-run-away vibe but still had an air of regality around it. A nice home if raising necromance dolls.

Qadar stepped out of the car holding the door open for princeps while V.P got out of the passenger seat.

I took a moment to stare at the building willing away the undeniable sense of danger I suddenly felt.

"What up kid? You chickening out from seeing your crush?" Qadar's annoying voice rang in the eerily quiet and still compound nearly making me rush out and bash the guy's head in. It'd be a heroic act though as I'm sure everyone would agree with me when I say Qadar Louise is a national hazard.

"Oh shut the fuck up!" I muttered under my breath as I got out of the car slamming the door shut. "Okay, we're all out" princeps muttered to their self before turning around and heading for the abnormally tall mahogany door made from dark wood. We all followed, Qadar walking especially close behind them.

Getting to the door, princeps grabbed the golden ring from the mouth of the lion shaped door knocker and banged on the door loudly.

The atmosphere went still and everywhere suddenly looked black and white to me. Just as suddenly as the phenomenon happened, it ceased and I was left breathing heavily as my heart beat quickened at an exponential rate in unconscious response to danger.

I clenched my slightly trembling hands into fists at my side suddenly feeling a very heavy presence that disappeared as soon I felt it comparable to the black and white surroundings phenomenon.

What the hell is behind that door? I thought greatly unsettled.

I glanced at the others, and other than V.P, it seemed I was not the only one who felt something was off.

Before we could dwell on it much though, the big mahogany door creaked loudly as it was slowly pulled open startling princeps and V.P very much. A pale looking man with long dark hair and even darker obscure eyes stood in the doorway, his delicate appearance not at all affecting his intimidating presence as he stared straight at us. Well, if I'm to be accurate, he was staring straight at me.

What on earth does he want me for? For some reason, I couldn't leave his gaze and could only stare back at him, into his dark soulless eyes very much like little angel's. Looking away was very impossible and although I wasn't getting intimidated, I could completely feel he was way stronger than he looked and probably more experienced in the field of unaliving people.

Finally, his gaze left me and went to Qadar who had cleared his throat noticing the tension between us then to princeps who had stepped a bit closer to him than before.

"Mr. Miller I assume. Miss Miller hasn't been to school for the last week and no one was picking up the phone so we decided to do a home visit. Is Miss Miller alright and is there anyway we can see her?" Princeps asked not at all faltering from the unearthly gaze they were receiving from little angel's dad. He was so non-human, it unnerved me.

I hope little angel's okay....

Avory's POV

It had been a week since the committee's meeting and I had finally finished clearing out the room we had decided to let Kale stay in. Dad's mission should have been ending in another week according to Dan so it was planned that we would acquire Kale the next day.

I was excited as, to be honest, I already missed the clueless yet charming, gorgeous male species that was Kale and would really love to hear his voice again.

Just thinking about him improved my mood and I hummed as I skipped out of the room carrying an empty pail, rubber gloves and a cleaning rag. I wasn't foolish enough to think the fated bond between us wouldn't strengthen now that we had met, but I was okay with it. Kale seemed good enough for it. Totally not in love with him though.

Dan suddenly came out of nowhere smiling. "That expression looks good on you" he commented causing me to giggle. "Whatever" I muttered rolling my eyes as I shoved my bucket into his hands before folding my hands behind my back as I walked alongside him to the utility closet.

"What's today's itinerary?" I asked seeing as Dan had taken it upon himself to start managing my activities since we arrived a week ago. He held the bucket in one hand and hooked the other round my neck.

"well, after washing up and having breakfast, the committee is doing one last meeting to discuss operation acquisition. Then, we both have to go over the equipment for tomorrow." He explained making me groan "What equipment? We don't even have a place of our own how could we possess equipment?" I asked rolling my eyes. It was kinda sad and pathetic how none of us could get a place of our own because we lacked freedom, being constantly watched.

Dan simply smirked at that, a mischievous glint flashing in his eyes and I furrowed my brows. "What did you guys do?" I muttered exasperated. The nerve of these kids.

"Jacob and Lee seemed to have found some ammo and vehicles with no owners" Dan answered causing my eyes to widen and mouth to drop open. I gasped."they stole it?! From where?" I whisper yelled.

Before you call me a prude, I didn't give a fuck whether or not they had stolen it, I'd stolen things as well. However, we were constantly being watched by the clan especially the elders and depending on where those bastards stole the things from, we could have had a tracking device in the circle.

"Don't worry, I personally scanned it before letting them take it into the building" Dan assured patting my shoulder with the hand slung round my neck. I sighed, "fine, whatever you say."

Just as I said that, Dan's phone rang the loud jittery noise filling the quiet atmosphere and echoing down the metal halls. We both glanced at each other stopping in our tracks and Dan dropped the bucket to take out his phone from his pocket. Having his fingerprint sensor set to answer calls, he picked the call by mistake and dad's deep eery voice sounded through the phone resonating with the walls.

"Dan, Avory. I know where you are now. You had better get back home if you don't want the elder council restraining you" his threat spoken in a very unnerving even tone sent a shiver down my spine. I wasn't scared of the elder council, they could go to hell for all I care, but Dad. Dad ignored our existences most of the time but now he had mentioned our names, something was definitely wrong.

I glanced at Dan distressed, nervous, fearful and most especially frustrated and catching his gaze, I knew we were both thinking the same thing.

He's onto us.
