Chapter 24 - Chapter Twenty-four:The Disconnection: A Race Against Time

In the grand hall of the council headquarters, the air was thick with tension.

Every faction of the supernatural world had gathered to discuss the growing chaos after Gloria's revelation.

The normally serene meeting space was now filled with nervous murmurs and heated debates. However, amidst the chaos, one voice cut through the noise like a knife.

"I can't feel my kids," Duke's father, Lord Kalen, suddenly shouted, his voice trembling with fear and frustration.

A powerful hybrid of werewolf and a vampire ( a werepire) and an influential member of the council, he had never displayed such vulnerability before.

His wife a hybrid of a werewolf and a witch ( witchwolf ) started sobbing.

The room went silent, and every supernatural leader present turned to face him.

"What do you mean you can't feel them?" asked Lady Aelora, an elf council member, her expression concerned.

"The wards should protect all the safehouses. We would know instantly if something had happened.

"Kalen shook his head, his face pale. "That's the problem. I've had a bond with my children since the day they were born. I should be able to sense them no matter where they are, but now... there's nothing. It's like they've vanished."The council members exchanged worried glances.

One by one, the other parents, high-ranking leaders of the supernatural world, tried to reach out through their own bonds with their children, only to find the same thing: silence.

The room filled with a low hum of anxiety.

The supernatural world thrived on these connections, whether it was between families, clans, or bloodlines, they always knew where their kin were.

For the bonds to be severed could only mean one thing: danger. The diviner, an ancient warlock known for his ability to see beyond the present, stepped forward.

His eyes glazed over as he extended his senses, seeking out the children in their hidden safehouses.

A heavy silence fell over the room as everyone waited for his verdict.

After a long moment, the diviner shook his head slowly.

"I can't trace them," he said, his voice filled with dread.

"Something is blocking my vision. There's darkness surrounding them... and danger."Kalen's fists clenched in frustration.

"What kind of danger? Who's behind this?"The diviner's face remained impassive, but his voice held a note of fear.

"It's not just a simple spell. There is a powerful force at work, one that even I cannot see through."The council members grew more uneasy.

The idea that there was something or someone powerful enough to block their magic, and their connection to their children, was terrifying.

Unbeknownst to the council, the League of Shadows had been planning their move for weeks.

A secret organization that thrived in darkness, the League had long been at odds with the council.

But now, with Gloria's true identity as the Moon Wolf Goddess revealed, they saw an opportunity.

They knew that if they eliminated her, they could seize control over both the human and supernatural worlds.

And so, they had cast a spell, a spell that severed the connection between the children and their parents, isolating them in the safehouses.

But not all forces worked against Gloria. In the shadows, the Evil Immortal, her protector throughout the ages, was still watching over her.

Though the truth about his role had been twisted in history, he had always been her guardian, protecting her reincarnations from those who sought to harm her.

He could feel the League of Shadows closing in on her, and he couldn't let it happen.

It was because of him that Sheila, the banshee, had received her terrifying vision.

Her scream, which had echoed through the safehouse earlier, was his doing, a warning of the impending danger.

Now, Gloria had to act.Inside the safehouse, Sheila stood up, her eyes wide with fear.

"We need to leave. Now."Everyone turned to look at her. "What are you talking about?" asked Eragon, his voice laced with confusion.

"The wards are up. We're safe here."Sheila shook her head violently.

"No. We're not. I saw it. There's something coming for us. If we don't leave, we'll be trapped, and then… we'll all die."Duke, who had remained silent throughout most of the day, stood up from his corner.

"She's right," he said, his voice unusually grim. "I can feel it too. Something's wrong."Gloria's heart pounded in her chest as the realization hit her.

The safehouses were no longer safe. The spell that had cut them off from their parents wasn't just a precaution, it was a trap.

The League of Shadows had found them."But where will we go?" asked Alestra, the Kakran.

"If we leave, we'll be vulnerable. They'll find us."Gloria stood, her mind racing.

"We'll have to take that risk. Staying here means certain death."Eragon stepped beside her, his eyes fierce with determination.

"We'll fight our way out if we have to."Gloria nodded, but deep down, she knew that their chances were slim.

The League of Shadows was a force they were unprepared for. But they had no choice.

They had to leave, before it was too late.As they prepared to flee the safehouse, Gloria couldn't shake the feeling that this was only the beginning.

The League was closing in, and soon, the entire supernatural world would be engulfed in a war far greater than any of them could imagine.
