Putting on the communication earpiece, he began typing something on the keyboard. Several windows popped up on his monitor. Don's cars and the rival gang's were visible through the street cameras. Zick nimbly switched from one to the other without losing sight of anyone.
"This is base. Report in"
"1 Check"
"2 Check"
"3 Check"
"4 Check"
"5 Check"
"6 Check"
One by one, the voices could be heard in the earpiece.
"Contact confirmed. Chinese gang cars are heading towards the port on Route 98. I'll give you more information in 10 minutes"
"Roger that"
Zick, fully concentrated, looked from the keyboard to the monitors. Nothing could escape his attention.
How the next action would unfold depended more on him. If he missed a detail and didn't pass it on to the others, something could go wrong.
A few minutes later, he saw the enemy cars dispersing into different streets. Without wasting time, he quickly divided the image into several smaller ones, catching everyone on camera again.
Don's men did a good job in the morning. The boss, knowing where the ships would be moored, sent people to the port and ordered them to place small cameras around the area. Thanks to this, Zick now had a complete picture.
Seeing how the people got out of the cars and took their places in the designated positions, he was able to pass on the information.
"This is the base. Sending enemy deployment. Confirm." Zick waited patiently for a response.
"Confirmed" He heard the same answers one after another.
"Let me know if anything changes" He heard his boss's serious tone.
"Yes, sir!"
With determination in his voice, he tried to catch the slightest movement on several cameras. He watched the enemy carefully until he noticed people from his group approaching.
The tankers were supposed to appear in the port in a few minutes. However, before that happened, it looked like there would be a meeting between two gangs.
Glancing at the monitor, Zick watched as Don deftly deployed his men. They all dispersed to their positions. Some in hiding, some in plain sight, plus the rest, led by the boss, approached to 'greet' the rival gang.
Don stood in front of the car and waited patiently. Several armed men emerged from behind the containers as they approached, but none made a move. The car door finally opened and three Asians stepped out.
"Well, well. Who do we have here. The great Don himself has graced us with his presence. What did we do to deserve this honor?" One of the men asked sarcastically.
"I'm not going to talk to shit. Where's your boss. Is he afraid to meet me? I'm disappointed in you, Chong. I thought you had balls after showing up at my place without asking. Apparently I was wrong." Don threw up his hands, mocking their boss.
The angry Chinese raised their weapons, but one of them raised his hand to stop them.
A man in his 40s got out of the car. Dressed in a suit, with a cigarette in his mouth, he slowly walked out, standing next to his men.
"Don. As sharp as usual. I don't know why you're making such a big deal out of our visit. We only came for one day. We take what's ours and we're gone. You didn't have to come here. You must have more important things to worry about." With a stupid smile on his face and his hand in his pocket, Chong smoked a cigarette.
Throwing it on the ground, he stepped on it and exhaled the smoke slowly from his mouth. "Like I said. Your presence here is unnecessary. You can take your boys and let us work." He glared at Don.
"Chong. You're on my turf without my knowledge. You don't think I'd let you do business here without my permission. Such behavior must be punished. Don't you think?" He said coldly. "I'll give you one last chance. Take your men and go home before you regret it."
Zick watched the exchange between the men nervously. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw one of the enemy's men make a sign, which the others began to show to each other in secret.
"Boss. They're up to something. Be prepared for the attack." He quickly relayed the information that all of his men heard.
Knowing that they would not avoid a fight, they were ready. All of the hidden ones targeted the hidden Chinese. They passed on to each other who they would attack so that everything would go smoothly without complications.
Chong took a step back, showing that all hell was about to break loose.
"I'm afraid that is not possible. If you do not let me do my thing, unfortunately I will have to eliminate you."
After these words, everyone raised their weapons, aiming at their opponents. A shooting broke out.
Don and his men hid behind a container, avoiding enemy bullets. Zick, seeing everything on the monitors, directed his men to where their opponents were after everyone had dispersed between the containers.
After they took out the hidden ones, they had a big advantage. Agile and fearless, they went forward, taking out more enemies. Chong was apparently repelled by Don and had to retreat with the rest of his men.
After a long time, the shooting finally died down. Don's men secured the area, making sure the threat had passed, and the wounded were transported to their doctor.
Zick, seeing how everything ended, breathed a sigh of relief. On one of the screens he saw two tankers docking.
"Boss. The cargo has arrived"
"Call the others. Let them check it out"
"Yes, sir. 7 check the tankers. Be careful. We don't know what's inside" Zick passed on the message to the reinforcements waiting for orders.
"We're on the move" He heard confirmation.
Once again he looked carefully around the monitors. Chong had disappeared to a place where there were no cameras and Zick didn't know what had happened to him.
Until he saw him leaving, he couldn't let his guard down. Some armed men began to leave the ship. Looking around uncertainly, they began to carry out crates. Zick quickly sent the image to his boss.
"Wait until they pull everything out. Take over the cargo quickly"
"Yes, sir"
Zick watched the whole operation carefully. In the meantime, he saw Don giving orders to the others. There was also the dirty work of getting rid of the bodies.
When Zick heard the shots in the receiver, his eyes immediately began to search for what was happening. A shootout broke out at the goods.
It turned out that the people who had sailed with the goods belonged to Chong. They must have received a tip from him and seeing strange people, they opened fire.
"Boss 7 needs backup" Zick quickly relayed the news to the boss, seeing how several people were wounded.
Don and his men entered the scene and quickly took care of the others. His men took over the crates and took them to one of the nearby warehouses.
Don sent the wounded to be treated and stayed for a moment by the ships. Looking at him, Zick noticed a car slowly approaching him.
"Boss! Watch out!" He managed to shout and warn Don.
The man quickly turned around and aimed his gun, looking at the car. Chong, sitting in the back seat, was aiming at Don. Two shots were fired at almost the same moment.
The car drove away with a screech of tires and Don grabbed his face with his hand.
"Boss!" Zick cried out in horror, seeing that something was wrong.
"Easy. He only grazed me" Don revealed a bloody face.
The bullet grazed his forehead, leaving a bleeding wound. "Chong looks worse" He said with satisfaction as he saw him shot in the left shoulder. "We're packing up. The police might be here soon. Secure the cargo and get back" He gave the order and followed the others to their cars.
A few minutes later there was no sign of the earlier action. Not a soul was there either. Zick eagerly watched the cameras for their return. He also knew he had to check where Chong's car had gone. He nervously typed away on his keyboard, trying to focus on the task at hand.
He nervously watched the boss's car approaching the property. It seemed to him that he had been waiting for them for hours.
Seeing them pull up to the house, he didn't wait any longer and ran to them, noting the last location of the Chinese car.
"Boss! Are you okay?!" Zick ran up to Don getting out of the car.
"Good job. Thanks to you, no one died." Don patted the man on the shoulder, smiling slightly at him.
How can you say that with a bloody face! I should have been more careful. And like this... Zick blamed himself in his mind, trying to stop himself from shouting it out loud. He was furious with himself. Because of him, several people got hurt because he didn't have time to warn them. And he's being praised for it?
"The boss should be treated by a doctor" He said disappointed. He wanted to go back inside but was grabbed by the hand and pulled in a different direction.
"Since you suggested it, you should help me get to him. This wound is a bit bothersome"
Don must have had his eye closed because every now and then, blood would run down his face.
It was starting to annoy him a bit, but the young hacker took his words differently. Thinking that the wound was very painful, he quickened his pace and with a worried face led him to the room where the doctor was seeing patients.
