Driving up to his office, Don's subordinates were already waiting for him, ready for the night's action. Armed and properly dressed, they handed the boss his weapons and waited for him to change his clothes.
Together with their men, they got into black SUVs and set off to conquer. When they arrived, they saw how much Peter's people were in panic.
As Don's men got out of the cars, they heard only one order from him.
"Get rid of everyone in the gang. The boss is mine."
After these words, his men dispersed and without hesitation entered the enemy's territory. The shooting began in earnest. The opponents caught by surprise started to panic at first, but quickly regained control and started to defend themselves.
Don, deftly avoiding shots and protected by his men, approached the place where Peter was currently staying. Entering the room, he found four people and their boss.
The men aimed at Don, but he was faster than them. Several shots rang out in the room and several bodies fell to the ground. Blood began to flow from Don's arm. However, the man stood unmoved, a menacing look on his face.
"You agreed to a task that was too much for you Peter. It's time to pay for your mistakes" He said coldly as he approached the man holding the bleeding wound on his stomach.
"Admit it, Don. You were just jealous that I was getting stronger than you" Peter choked out through his teeth.
"You still don't get it. When you accepted your last kidnapping job, you messed with Ruslanov. Be happy that I'm done with you. Otherwise you would have suffered longer." Don pointed the gun at the man, who started laughing.
"How's your little computer rat? Still holed up in the basement of his house?"
Hearing his words, Don frowned.
"What are you talking about?" He asked, but the man laughed again.
"You think I didn't keep an eye on your pet? I had insurance against something like this. Did you come to eliminate me? Let me go out with a bang like your boy."
After these words, a shot was fired. Peter couldn't say anything anymore.
Don quickly pulled out his phone, trying to call Zick. No signal. He left the building in a hurry and, seeing that his men were finished, he quickly went to one of the cars.
"Clean this mess" He ordered before driving away.
His arm hurt more and more and blood dripped onto the car and his clothes. But Don couldn't think about that. His heart had never pounded like that before.
Being a street away from Zick's house, he saw a bright glow and colorful police and fire sirens. His hands gripped the steering wheel tightly.
Getting out of the car, he looked at the burning house he had been in just a moment ago. He slowly approached the crowd of people gathered nearby.
"What happened here?" He asked one man.
"Apparently there was a gas leak. There was a big explosion and now they are trying to put out the fire. If someone was inside..." The man didn't finish his sentence. Everyone knew what he was talking about.
Don stood to the side, away from everyone, and looked at the burning house. For the first time, he didn't know what to do. He left Zick alone to go on a dangerous mission.
Why didn't he tell him to wait at his place like always? Had that one kiss he finally decided to do, mess with him so much that he stopped thinking rationally? He himself was always ready, knowing that he might not come back, but Zick...
He didn't fight. He was just an ordinary man who was very knowledgeable about computers.
Don seemed to be lethargic going back to his car. He started the engine and slowly returned to his office. His men were talking to him, but he didn't hear anything.
He sat down heavily on the sofa and finally felt a weakness coming over him, probably due to the loss of blood. He didn't fight it. His eyes slowly closed...
A new day was beginning. Darell decided to stretch his bones after an all-night stay at the office and catching up on documents.
Diana and Tomas came to the office right after he arrived. He told them calmly that Sophie was now safe and that she had even managed to meet a family she had no idea about.
Diana breathed a huge sigh of relief and was hugged by Tomas. All this time, the man never took his eyes off her.
Whenever he learned something from Darell, he passed it on to Diana. Well...Almost everything.
The young woman didn't need to know about the shooting and such. Making sure they were alright, they returned to Diana's apartment where they were finally able to sleep soundly for the night.
Around 8 a.m. Noah came into the office and greeted his boss with joy on his face. He got to work with a new dose of energy.
Darell, however, couldn't concentrate, wanting to be close to Sophie. He promised her that he would come pick her up today, but before he does, he has to take care of the company. Unfortunately, he also had two meetings waiting for him, which deep down he wanted to cancel.
However, knowing that he would get yelled at by Sophie for doing so, he tried to focus on his work at least a little bit...
In the Ruslanov estate, Sophie had been walking around the corridors since the early morning hours, feeling a bit bored. It wasn't that she didn't want to spend time with her family. She was just rested and ready to work, but Darell wasn't supposed to come for her until the evening and the rest of the household was still sleeping...
Wanting to keep her hands busy, she found the kitchen and started looking for ingredients. Without waiting for anyone's permission, she started preparing breakfast for the three of them. After some time, when everything was ready, a sleepy Anton entered the kitchen, scratching his head.
"Hey, little sister. Why so early?" He asked, walking up to her and kissing her on the cheek.
"Good morning, brother. I woke up early and decided to prepare breakfast for us. Can you help?" She handed him two plates of food and, taking another, went to take them to the dining room.
When everything was ready, a sleepy Gregorej entered the dining room, looking identical to his son a moment ago. Sophie laughed to herself when she saw this. She walked up to her dad and kissed him on the cheek, which he happily returned.
"Good morning, darling." He hugged her tenderly, still unable to believe that his daughter was with them again.
"Sit down. Let's eat."
As they ate breakfast and talked, father and son came to the conclusion that they had never spoiled Sophie. Despite her protests, they decided to go for 'a little' shopping. And oh horror...
Sophie found that these men had no limits. They would be able to buy anything from the store if they only found that it suited her. Shoes, dresses, costumes, pants, blouses, handbags, seeing the shopping bags growing in front of her eyes, Sophie began to feel dizzy.
After a few hours in the shops, it looked like they would need a separate car for her new things. Seeing how much they were having fun choosing gifts for her, she didn't say anything at first, but now it was a bit of an exaggeration.
"Dad, Anton, that's enough" She stood in front of the men and announced firmly. "I don't have enough space in my apartment to accommodate it all." She crossed her arms on the chest, but the men just widened their eyes and looked at each other with understanding, speaking at the same time.
"We'll buy you a bigger apartment"
"NO....you don't" She denied it quickly, seeing what was happening. "The ones I have now are more than enough and I have enough clothes to last me until I die. Let's go eat something because Darell will be coming to pick me up soon." She turned on her heel and started looking around for a restaurant.
"Darell? What Darell?" Gregorej was surprised, looking from his daughter to his son.
"Darell Pilsar. Owner of Pilsar Company" Anton explained.
"That Pilsar? Ha. He thinks he's worthy of my daughter?" The father snorted but quickly fell silent when he saw his daughter's gaze.
Anton quickly turned his head to the other side, trying not to laugh. He knew well that his sister was in love with him for good and his father was about to find out the hard way.
"Darell is worthy enough. And he's mine" Sophie replied menacingly. "If you have any problem with it, I advise you to leave it alone."
After these words, she entered the restaurant, leaving her surprised father and amused brother at the entrance.
"Well father, you failed miserably," Anton quickly disappeared out the door, avoiding the furious Gregorej.
His son did it on purpose. He didn't tell him about Pilsar earlier so that he could argue with his daughter. A small, very dangerous smile appeared on the man's face. Anton will regret it...
Meanwhile, Don slowly started to wake up. He looked around the room languidly and guessed that his men must have taken care of him. With a grimace, he sat on the bed, clutching his bandaged arm. He sat there for a moment, staring at the blanket, not knowing what to do.
"Are you awake? How do you feel? Are you in a lot of pain? Wait, I'll check if you still have a fever."
Someone entered the room and, seeing the awake boss, started taking care of him.
But why did his voice sound so much like Zick's? Was the fever causing him to start having hallucinations?
Don slowly looked up at the young man who placed a hand on his forehead. The man couldn't believe his eyes.
"Zick..."
