Chapter 16 - Chapter 16

"Oh Sophie" Diana took her into her arms. "Silly. He got mad because you started talking about other women the day our mom called. If he shows you feelings, it means that he only has you in his eyes and no one else. Darell is a very faithful man. If he wants to be with you, the only person who can end this relationship is you, honey" She explained, stroking her back.

"What if he meets someone else.."

"Sophie" She interrupted. "Even if the most beautiful and kindest woman in the world stands naked in front of him, he won't react. He won't look at her if he has you as his partner. Believe me, I know what I'm saying" She smiled at her sincerely.

"He hates me now" She whispered.

"Pss, you think so?" She snorted. "Wait a day or two and watch how he comes to you out of longing" She said confidently, puffing out her chest.

"Yeah, because he won't be able to sleep" Sophie went back to preparing the food.

"You'll see if he wants to go to sleep right away or if he wants to enjoy your presence. But you won't be so willing" A sinister smile appeared on her face. "He chased you away. Let him suffer" She shrugged, causing a smile to appear on Sophie's face.

"Thanks, Diana. I needed this" She tapped her shoulder with hers.

"That's what you have friends for"

It was already evening and the women were sitting on the couch watching a movie and snacking on tasty food when Diana's phone started ringing.

"Where are you? Why aren't you at the apartment yet?" She heard a man's voice on the phone.

"I'm at Sophie's for a chat. Something happened?" She asked, popping another snack into her mouth.

"Two hundred and five?"

"How did you know?" She straightened up on the sofa, surprised.

"I visited her apartment last week. Darell called in a panic. Don't stay with her too long. Let her sleep" He ended the conversation without giving her the opportunity to ask what was going on. With narrowed eyes, she slowly turned to the surprised Sophie.

"What's the matter?" She turned her head to the side like a little puppy.

"Tomas called. What happened last week? Is that why you weren't there on Friday? Did you feel sick?" She began to ask the surprised woman.

"Wait" She calmed Diana. "How does Tomas know that something happened?" She furrowed her eyebrows suspiciously.

"I told you he was a doctor. He said Darell called him to see you. So, will you tell me what happened?" She asked curiously.

Sophie made a defeated face. More and more people knew about her condition.

"I'm weaker than the others. I get tired more easily and... when it's bad, my nose bleeds. I need a day of rest after that. That's why I wasn't there on the last day"

"Oh Sophie" Diana hugged her. "You should talk about something like this. Promise me that if you feel bad, you'll tell me right away, okay?" Sophie nodded slowly. Diana looked at the phone.

"Actually, it's late. Get some sleep and I'll see you at work tomorrow" She got up and they started clearing the plates.

Only when everything was cleaned up did Diana come back to her place. Sophie went to take a bath.

Lying in bed, she thought for a moment about what Diana had told her. Maybe she'll wait and see if she's right and then think about what she'll do. Her eyes slowly began to close.

Unlike someone who had been struggling since yesterday and couldn't sleep. He regretted it immediately after she left. He felt bad about it, knowing that he had hurt her. This wasn't what he wanted, but the morning conversation with his mother... The phone started ringing.

"What do you want?" He asked menacingly.

"You know Diana is at your girlfriend's now?" He heard, frowning.

"I don't have a girlfriend" He muttered menacingly.

"And the one you called me to?"

"Sophie? Diana is with Sophie?" He put down the phone and hid his face in his hands. "I'm screwed"

"You are" He laughed into the phone.

"Fuck off, Tomas" He growled menacingly.

"Let me know if you need me"Tomas quickly ended the conversation without waiting for further insults. Darell leaned back in his chair, clearly tired.

"I screwed up" He muttered to himself. He stood up, banging the desk angrily. He went to take a long cold shower knowing he was in for a long night and probably for the whole weekend.

When Noah walked into his office in monday, after eight, he found his boss looking like an angry nightmare from some horror movie. Swallowing heavily, he began to report on today's affairs.

When he somehow managed to get out of the office unscathed, he quickly went to the marketing department. He hoped that Sophie didn't go to lunch with everyone and he could convince her to help.

Seeing the worried assistant, Sophie looked irritably at the laptop, pretending not to see him. She knew why he came. Noah didn't say anything. He waited patiently until the woman made up her mind.

She closed her laptop and angrily left the office. She entered the office with a menacing face, seeing an equally menacing boss.

"Go back to work" He threatened weakly.

"Or what?" She crossed her arms on her chest. He stepped dangerously close to her, looking down at her warningly.

"You will be punished"

Sophie looked into his tired eyes. She placed her hand on his cheek and he immediately started cuddling it, closing his eyes.

"Should I go? Are you sure?" She placed her other hand on his other cheek.

Darell suddenly picked her up and carried her to his apartment. Sophie didn't move, afraid he would let her go.

At the apartment, she helped him take off his suit and took him to bed. Without wasting a moment, he snuggled into her, breathing heavily. Seeing him like this, she couldn't get angry at him. She started stroking his head.

A moment later, Darell was sleeping peacefully in her arms. With a serious face, Sophie began to wonder what she was getting into. She couldn't leave him alone, knowing how tired he was.

She sighed heavily, thinking about the work that wouldn't get done because of it. She just hoped that Noah would sort it out somehow.

"I could have gone to lunch with everyone" She whispered to herself. But it wouldn't solve anything. Either way she would have ended up in the same situation. She finally accepted her fate and continued to stroke her tormentor's head.

"What's the point of being handsome if you have a shitty personality" She smacked him lightly on the head. A small smile appeared on her face.

She didn't even want to think about what he would do to her if he found out about it. Darell was no joke. Every action against him had side effects. But she had to admit that sometimes it was nice to spend time with him.

Time passed slowly and Darell didn't move. Sophie wanted to go to the bathroom more and more. She didn't foresee this in advance, otherwise she would have lasted longer. She carefully tried to get out of the sleeping man's grasp.

"Umm where are you going?" He asked sleepily.

"To the bathroom for a moment. I'll be right back"

His grip loosened and Sophie managed to get out. Returning to the man, she saw that he was looking at her intensely.

"Why don't you sleep?" She asked, surprised.

"Because you're not here" He spread his hands, inviting her to him.

"You know today is an exception" She warned, lying down next to him.

"I will fight for clemency when I am fully strong" He snuggled into her, falling asleep again.

"We'll see" She said under her breath, closing her eyes.

After lying there with him for several hours, Sophie felt sleepy. She woke up when the room was completely dark. She reached for her phone and saw that it was already after 10 p.m.

She rubbed the sleep from her eyes, trying to find her boss. He was sleeping soundly, hugging her with one arm. She picked it up with difficulty and threw it back at him.

"Couldn't you wake me up with a kiss once?" He stretched, got out of bed and turned on the light. Sophie looked ahead as if she had had enough of everything. She started walking towards the door but was stopped.

"It's late" He pulled her to him by the hand. "Stay" He asked gently.

"Don't want to" She turned around, but he pulled her to him again.

"I'm sorry, Sophie" He said sincerely. "It wasn't supposed to be like this. I lost my self-control. I hurt you. Forgive me"

She looked into his pleading eyes, knowing she couldn't win against him.

"Let's order something to eat, hmm?" He asked hoarsely in his sexy voice. Sophie looked at the door, pretending to still be thinking.

"Then I'll kidnap you" He whispered in her ear, grabbing her by the waist and carrying her to the sofa. He embraced her from behind and sat her between his legs.
