I needed to tell you about this one as I found it ironic to what I had to deal with today.
Last night I dreamed that I was doing what people do with chainsaws, carving, cutting, designing etc. However, I was only cutting and doing what could be called 'sanding' with the chainsaw as I was going over the bark of a pine tree, making it smooth.
I woke in the middle of doing this. I do own a chainsaw, have never used one as I've been afraid of the chain catching and the machine coming back and hitting me in the face or my legs.
The ironic part of this, or maybe it was a premonition of what I had to face today.
My mother asked me to go and check on one of our dogs that we have in a lot as he doesn't get along well with smaller dogs that we also have running around and have yet to put up. I didn't think anything of it as I've done it a thousand times.
Image my surprise, as well as my frustration of seeing a fallen, dead, and rotting PINE TREE laying across the fence of the lot.
Now here is where that chainsaw would've come in handy, despite my fear of it.
Because I spent 2-3 hours sawing and cutting this tree, which apparently still had some good wood on it as I kept cutting and sawing it in two places, by hand.
A hand saw with a wood cutting blade and an axe.
I spent 2-3 hours fighting the tree, the blade on the saw before getting out my axe; at my mother's suggestion after I sawed my damn guts out and got my arms sore from the workout. And getting the dog back in as he ventured out of the lot after I had gone and retrieved the axe.
The axe was sharper than the saw blade, but at least I got the tree off the fence and fixed the fence that had, thankfully, had minor damage to it, but I still patched it up with some loose fencing and wire cutters and rebar to keep it up.
I think it's finally time I got a chainsaw, don't you?
