Year 2020, Dr. Varun Rao, age 20, has finally mastered his powers and returns home to take control of his organization, 'Rao Corp,' and with it, his 'Dream.'
"Hmmm... so it took 5 years just to fully understand my own power, huh," Varun said to himself.
"Maybe I should lay down and rest for a while. It's already midnight."
He went to his bedroom to rest, but his mind was unsettled.
"For 5 years, I had nothing to think about except my degree and this power of mine. But..."
"Now that I think about it, I was quite lonely after all," Varun said, though it didn't seem usual for him to admit that. For those 5 years, he focused solely on developing his power, so much so that he had 'forgotten sleep.'
sniff And after all, he was just a kid at heart.
Tears started to fall. Even though he wasn't particularly sad, he didn't feel like crying either.
"I miss you, Mom... Dad..." It seemed like Varun was just fine today, as always. He was only a little depressed, but it was alright—because he had a 'Dream,' right?
Goodnight, Varun...
At 4 in the morning, a suicide was reported at Rao Corp. Varun's best butler had committed suicide in a mysterious way, hanging himself from the building's top-floor overhang.
2 Hours Earlier...
Knock, knock... Someone was at the door.
"Hmm, who's there?" Varun called to the person behind the door.
"Ah, it's me, Master. Your butler."
"Oh, you can come in. Make sure to open the door a little; it's quite suffocating in here," Varun replied.
"Master Varun, I just came to check on you..."
"Hmm, and?"
"And I wanted to say how happy I am that you came back."
"Oh, thanks. To think that a scum of the earth like you would ever be that happy—you backstabbing motherfucker."
"........Um... Ma...Master... What are you t-talking about?" The butler's voice trembled; he had been exposed.
"I've known for a while that you're the one who killed my parents, right?" Varun smiled.
"And now, you're here to kill me too, right?" His smile widened.
"RRRAAAAAAGGGHHHHHH!!!" The butler suddenly lunged, stabbing Varun in the throat.
"AAAAAAGgggHHHHHhh!!!" Varun gasped, unable to breathe.
"I don't know, Master. It's quite surprising that YOU figured it out. I did a great job hiding my utter disgust for rich folks like you," the butler said, watching Varun struggle for air.
"I HATED IT. I HATED IT FROM THE BEGINNING!"
"What have you rich motherfuckers ever done, anyway? All that LUCK—handed to you on a silver platter!"
"Do you know how much I utterly despised you all?"
"Do you know how many times I thought about strangling you to death when you were a kid?"
"DO YOU KNOW JUST HOW IRREFUTABLY MAD I WAS?" The butler was losing his composure, spilling everything.
"And do you know 'WHY?'" The butler grabbed Varun by the hair, forcing him to look at him.
"Because you killed my daughter." Tears began to fall from the butler's eyes.
30 Years Prior...
The butler's daughter, Veena, was Varun's father's playmate. They grew up playing together. They were close friends.
But Veena loved him. One day, she confessed her love... and was refused.
Veena cried all night.
And the day after, she was found dead—hanging from the building's top-floor overhang. She had committed suicide.
"AAAAHHHHHHHH!!! WHAT WAS SO WRONG ABOUT IT?!" The butler screamed. "WHAT WAS WRONG WITH FALLING IN LOVE WITH SOMEONE!!"
"Your father didn't care for her at all! And your mother... that bitch... Every time I looked at her, it felt like someone was eating my heart!!"
"So I killed them," the butler said, now smiling through his tears.
"I aaammmm... in bliss right now... Ohhhh, Veena... I finally avenged you..."
"FINA—... what? Where is he?" The butler scanned the room, but Varun was nowhere in sight.
"IMPOSSSIIIBBLLLEEE!!!!!" The butler was beyond shocked.
Panicking, he ran out of the room, searching for Varun. Then, suddenly, he heard a voice:
"So, you think it's justified to kill someone?" Varun stood beside him, calm as ever.
"AAAAAGGGGHHHH!!!! Y...YOOUUUU!!!" The butler was terrified.
"Hey, I asked a question. See? A QUESTION. Why don't you answer me?" Varun was calm.
"I... I... d-don't..." The butler stammered, fear taking over.
"Oh, look at the mess you've made. Hmmm, you're probably wondering why I'm not injured, huh?"
"It's simple. My 'Bypass' power can bypass 'Any Law—Existent or Non-Existent.' It doesn't care if the law was just made or has existed since the universe began. 'It just bypasses them.'"
"You see, I bypassed the 'Law of Injury,' and now I'm 'not injured anymore,'" Varun explained.
The butler was terrified beyond belief, and in a desperate attempt, he tried to run away.
"Where do you think you're GOING!?" Varun shouted, now angry.
"Huff... Huff... I'll make it... I can escape!" The butler thought, convinced he could run away.
"AAAAAAGGGGGHHHH!!!" Suddenly, the butler collapsed.
"Wha... WHAAAT IS THIS?! WHAT HAPPENED TO MY BODY!?" He screamed.
"Not much," Varun replied.
The butler's heart stopped.
"I just 'Bypassed your body,' and removed every joint in it."
"It's simple, really. Your biology is still intact, but I changed it. A human body thrives on the use of joints—without them, you can 'never move,'" Varun said coldly.
The butler was now utterly hopeless.
"NOW THEN!!! I'm giving you two choices. First, I'll kill you peacefully. Second, you can kill yourself..." Varun now revealed his truly villainous side.
"...Huh..." The butler couldn't grasp what had happened in the past few minutes.
"I... I will k-kill myself," he whispered.
"So, let's go to the rooftop then." Varun picked him up and carried him to the rooftop.
They now stood on the rooftop, where Varun tied a noose around the butler's neck.
"Here you go... Okay, this should be fine..." Varun muttered as he fastened the rope.
"Now, where should I tie this rope? Ah, there. Yep, that's a good spot."
The butler recognized the spot. It was the same railing where his daughter had hung herself.
"Before you die, I have one final thing to ask you... Can I?" Varun asked.
"...Yes..." the butler replied.
"Oh, great! So, how many of you are there? Give me the names," Varun asked seriously.
"I know you weren't acting alone, so I need the names."
The butler gave him the names.
"Is that all?" Varun asked, jotting them down.
"...Yes..." the butler answered.
"Hmmm... okay. Now... 'Die.'"
The butler, now outside the railing, prepared to hang himself. He said,
"Ahhh... Veena... Papa is coming... please wai—" SMACK! Varun kicked him off the edge.
"Fuck both you and your daughter. Killing herself for a guy who didn't even love her.... And then you killing my parents for revenge... REVENGE... YOU AND YOUR DAUGHTER ARE EXACTLY THE SAME... YOU'RE BOTH FUCKING IDIOTS."
Varun was visibly angry.
"Hmmm... yawn I should get some sleep," he said, walking back to his room.
He tried to sleep, but something was bothering him. That 'something' was that he never got revenge for his parents. Even though he killed the man who murdered them, he had never been driven by revenge.
The only thing that drove him... was his 'Dream.'
