Chapter 16 - Chapter 16

In a VIP ward at Silvana Medical Centre, Cynthia was lying on a sick bed with a fluid and vital signs monitor connected to her body.

It turns out that the coughing fit led to an undetectable illness.

The beautiful face of the gorgeous woman was already distorted. She had coughed so hard that she couldn't open her mouth to make a sound anymore.

Her eyes were red and half-closed. Despite being sedated, she still found it difficult to sleep.

Dr. Ric looked at the vital signs monitor, and hopelessness took over his face.

He turned to Lucas, whose face looked unexplainable. "Mr. Wellington, I'm so sorry. I have tried my best, but I don't think there's a solution to her illness." His lips were trembling.

Lucas shot a glare at Dr. Ric and his colleagues, who had been attending to Cynthia since they arrived.

"I thought you all claimed to be the best doctors in this city? Is this the best you can do?" The man shook his head in disappointment.

"What's it about a minor ailment that you couldn't find a solution for?!" Lucas's voice was growing harder.

Dr. Ric sighed and responded, "It's embarrassing to say this, but the results of all the tests we did show no symptoms of any illness. This has made it difficult to detect the nature of her sickness."

"So, what are you insinuating?" Lucas asked, his voice intimidating.

"I would advise making arrangements to fly Miss Wellington abroad for advanced treatment," he said, his mind filled with fright.

Lucas's eyes turned red, and his teeth gritted. "Shame on you, Ric!"

Dr. Ric nodded his head, embracing his shame.

Just then, one of the doctors noticed a change in Cynthia's heart rate on the vital signs monitor.

"Dr. Ric! Miss Wellington's heart rate has increased," he announced in a panicked tone.

Dr. Ric turned to the monitor hurriedly, and his eyes widened in shock.

"What's happening, Ric?! If anything tragic happens to my daughter, there will be unending problems! I promise!" The old man couldn't hold it any longer.

Michael was inside the ward too, quietly watching the whole scene.

Silvana Medical Centre was well-known in the city; he never expected their doctors to be incapable.

Just then, Michael heard the robotic voice in his head.

[The lady's illness cannot be detected due to an imbalance of energy flow in her body. The imbalance of energy was caused by your mistake.]

Michael was taken aback. He wondered what it had to do with him. Then the robotic voice continued to explain.

[The force from the energy pulled inside her recently collided with a strange chemical substance in her body. This caused her organs to overwork.]

Michael sighed as he understood where the problem came from. He realized that the drug used by the kidnappers contained a powerful chemical substance.

Also, the energy he pulled inside Cynthia at the warehouse was too strong.

At that moment, he learned that he still had a lot to understand about his abilities.

Ding! Ding!

He heard the usual sound, and the hologram appeared before him. However, he was the only one who could see it.

He looked closely and saw some information on the hologram.

[Task Alert!]

[Heal the sick lady using a subdued energy inflow.]

[Reward: 10 gems.]

[Task must be completed in the next 45 minutes. Your time starts now!]

[Failure to complete the task within the given duration will result in a pause of tasks for several weeks.]

[Failure to carry out the task will lead to the host losing any of his previously granted wishes.]

Michael felt a bit uneasy reading the whole thing. He never knew that the system would be this challenging. He thought it would only revolve around making wishes and getting them granted instantly.

With this information, he understood that nothing in life is free.

Discovering that his limited understanding of the healing abilities contributed to the pain Cynthia was experiencing made him feel guilty.

Glancing at Lucas, he saw a sorrowful and helpless expression. None of the excuses the doctors were mentioning made sense to him.

All that mattered to him was his daughter's health. She's the only person he has, for crying out loud.

The danger of failing to complete the task within the given duration prompted Michael to quickly announce, "Don't worry too much; I will cure Miss Wellington's illness!"

All eyes fell on Michael. With how poor he looked, the doctors saw him as nothing more than a madman who was unaware of his madness.
