Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: The Flames of Conquest

"You did well, my daughter. Come here, I'll give you a hug as a reward," the demon said.

Ashthi recoiled instantly, her eyes narrowing in annoyance. " father, stay away! How many times have I told you not to do things like that?"

The demon chuckled, shrugging casually. "Ah, sorry, daughter. Father forgot."

Ashthi sighed, waving her hand dismissively. "It's fine now, just don't do it again."

Divit listening to their exchange with growing disbelief. He hadn't fully grasped it before, but now it was clear—this monster of a man was Ashthi's father.

Sathi said to Divit "This is my father, Margo Felivea. He's a five-tier sword mage and the head of our village."

Margo's sharp gaze shifted toward Divit, "Interesting… who's this?"

Ashthi glanced at Divit. "His name is Divit. I met him in the prison."

Divit's mind raced. Are they insane? he thought How can they have a casual conversation in the middle of this bloodbath?

And Margo said "my daughter your brother also has come with us".

"Really?" Ashthi's eyes brightened. "I'll go meet him!" She turned to Divit, adding, "I'll talk to you later. And Father, don't kill him." Then she left to meet her brother.

Margo's gaze darkened, focusing on Divit with a threatening gleam. His voice dropped to a menacing whisper. "Now… should we have a word?"

Suddenly, an immense pressure crashed down on Divit, freezing his body in place. He couldn't move, Blood dripped from his mouth as he struggled to stay conscious.

"What a weakling, "Now, tell me—who are you? And how do you have such a dark mana? If you don't talk, I'll burn you alive."

Divit coughed, gasping for air, blood trickling from his mouth. "I… I don't know what you're talking about!"

Margo said "Is that so?" The pressure on Divit increased, crushing him further to the ground.

Divit said I really don't know what are you talking

With a sigh, Margo finally lifted the pressure. "Hmph. I'll let you live—for now. My daughter would be upset if I killed you. And I don't feel like dealing with that."

Divit gasped for breath, his body shaking uncontrollably. What kind of monster is this man? he thought, barely able to stand.

Just then, a soldier approached. "Chief, we've captured the village leader."

Margo grinned. "Excellent. Bring him here."

The soldiers dragged the village chief, Sharad, toward Margo, his body riddled with spear wounds. The chief knelt before Margo, barely able to hold himself upright.

Margo sat down in front of Sharad, planting his sword in the ground beside him. "So, how does it feel to have spears driven through your body?"

Sharad smiled weakly, spitting blood from his mouth. " well don't as much as the the horned demon whom died whithin our hands. do you know When we slowly cuted there heads. What was the face they were making.

Margo said "I don't know about demons. But I do know the faces of the elves. And Their screams when we burned your village. And The ones who begged for mercy… What kind of faces do you think they made, village chief?"

Sharad's eyes burned with hatred. "You… monster… I'll…"

Before he could finish, Margo swiftly decapitated him with a single stroke of his sword. The chief's head rolled to the ground as his body collapsed.

"What a loudmouth," Margo said with a sigh. He wiped his sword clean, then turned to his soldiers. "Capture the remaining elves. We'll take them back to our village. They'll make fine slaves."

The soldiers quickly rounded up the remaining elves, shackling them and throwing them into carriages. Divit was bound and tossed in with them.

As the carriages rumbled away, Divit watched the village burn in the distance. Smoke billowed into the sky, and the stench of death filled the air.
