From the day, the robot came into this house my meals have only become better.
The robot or 'Axel' as I have named him had the body shape very similar to human it was quite similar to texla robot just instead of humanoid black face it had two cameras for eyes and no other facial features. The color of his body was white with few black lines for aesthetic look and had logo of the company name on his left chest RD-X, Axel had done a pretty good job in cleaning the house and preparing meals from my perspective.
Although Ambra would constantly order Axel to prepare all kinds of dishes, on the sideline he would also prepare food for me as well.
Not that I can eat solid food yet, since my teeth have not grown yet. So all I could eat was liquid food.
I half expected I would start to drink milk in a bottle but what I did not expect was a yellow liquid sloshing in the feeding bottle. 'Uh... that's safe right?'
As the first time I took a taste, it tasted similar to corn soup.
'It's a bit salty, but it's good,' I thought as I continued drinking it from the feeding bottle.
I watch the empty room with only me in the hallroom and Axel cleaning the place, with a children's show teaching English to babies through rhythms on the projected screen.
Although Arwin has to act like a baby and mimic the sound spoken on the projected screen to show he is learning, another reason is that since Axel is a robot and anyone can view his memory chip and observe if as a kid he was strange or odd in some way.
'I mean it is better to act like kid now so even if others are somehow able to get their hands on Axel's memory card they won't find anything strange about my past as a child. Better to be cautious than to get a target of a reincarnator on my back.'
'Now what do I do with all the time that I have? I mean for the past 4 days I have been caught up with this world and now that I have time to relax and think about it. I can't deny it any longer, I have been sent into my own novel.'
'Although I can survive as a normal individual with no mana, the best positions I could ever reach is that of an engineer in military of course that is only if I have the resources to get into a proper school, atleast they are the most safest option according to the things that will happen in future. I mean the technology of this world is far better than my own world so me being from a pretty advanced civilization doesn't mean shit in this world unlike other stories of transmigrating to a medieval fantasy world. And that is only if this world follows the storyline I have written, but if the future starts to derail to another path than I am fu**ed.'
'The other issue is even if I do choose to get infected, becoming a mana user is no easy task, just the survival rate of the disease is 20%. That is even if I do survive, it doesn't particularly mean anything since I would be forced to conscript into army to fight off the invaders as an awakened human.'
'Fu**ed if I do, fu**ed if I don't. I am literally stuck between a rock and hard place.'
As Arwin sighs while staring into the projected screen. The door opens as Ambra comes home drunk as Axel comes quickly to the couch to pick Arwin up and place him in his crib and then treat to the drunken Ambra.
As she speaks some gibberish things while being helped by Axel and lays on the couch with the help of Axel. Arwin decides to go sleep as it is pretty late and Axel would wake him up for dinner.
Days like this pass on as Arwin practices to produce sounds everyday to show small improvements and move around even though it is pretty hard to control his underdeveloped muscles.
Due to Arwin's tendency to crawl on the floor, he is clothed in warm clothes which also included his hands and foot covered by gloves and socks by Axel.
As 6 months have passed, he is now able to speak some syllables like ma-ma or da-da which is big achievement to him. Ambra did not care when he called out to her ma-ma for the first time, as all she did was look at him in a drunken state with a bit of irritation and shifts her attention back to the projected screen.
Even Axel did not have that big of a reaction although that was expected as he was just a robot only following a predetermined set of instructions.
'Yeah I guess she really doesn't care about me. Although there is one issue I am facing and that is my teeth are starting to come out and damn it hurts like hell.'
'None of the other reincarnation stories ever mention the pain of teething as a baby. Sometimes, I can even taste iron in my mouth as these baby teeth slowly push their way through.'
Arwin had another achievement of being able to walk, even though he needs the support of the couch or the walls he is able to atleast walk which is the crowning achievement he has achieved in the past month through working his underdeveloped muscles.
When he crawled to the kitchen under the watchful gaze of Axel, he came pretty close to the heater before he was stopped by Axel.
"Never touch this, it is bad."
Arwin stares at the turned off heater and looks back at Axel asking,
"Baa?"
"Bad. Yes it becomes very hot, so it is bad for you. Never touch this." As he points towards the heater.
Arwin looks back at the heater and then once again at Axel and just points his arms up, asking to be carried by Axel.
As Axel complies and carries Arwin back to his crib, Arwin starts to make noise and tries to get out of Axel's arms. Axel observes where Arwin wants to go and carries him in front of the projected screen and turns it on while handing Arwin a remote to change the channels.
While Arwin is watching a children's show on the projected screen his mind is somewhere else,
'Ok, one thing I know now is that I was born on 2105 which is great.'
'Why is this piece of information important? well the protagonist of this story is also born on this year. Which means that I have 15 years before the shit hits the fan. Although that ass said he would give me a higher chance to survive the disease finding that contagion is nigh impossible as they are kept under very high security by the governing bodies of this world.'
'There is only one legal way to get infected by that contagion and that is through recruiting phase.'
'Male and female of age ranging from 14 to 25 are allowed to get infected by the virus. Of course at their own risk with a legal document which is signed by them which dictates that it is their choice to get infected and will face the risks that come with it.'
'Although more then 80% die due to how dangerous the process to survive the virus is. You can not use method like weakened virus to awaken humans as what it does is either makes them immune or they die. Once immune to the virus they can only awaken by taking another stronger strain of the virus with 10% survival rate.'
'The rich although have a method which is expensive but compared to the safety of their offspring it is but a necessary expenditure, to find whether their progeny are capable of awakening or not they take multiple tissue sample of them and use the virus to test whether they can awaken or not. But even this method has its risks as it is not a guarantee that they can safely awaken.'
'Which is why polygamy is allowed in this world as long as the main person is capable of taking care of their multiple partner.'
'Although to government this high death ratio means nothing much as human couples in this world have 3 to 4 kids on average, with robots coming in cheap price to take care of these children. So the population of unawakened humans is pretty stable while the ratio of awakened human slowly rises.'
As Arwin watches the children's show on the projected screen he constantly changes it until he gets back to a movie he was watching. As Axel has went to kitchen to prepare dinner for both of them.
'Man, I made this world very hard to survive but a plus point is this world is pretty much a futuristic version of my old world. Yeah it is very different with magic and all but there are the sequels of the old movies. Not all movies survived to this point but the most famous ones are still there.'
'I mean the movie I am watching is Avatar 4, although this sequel is more focused on the humans being good and the aliens being bad. Damn the military propaganda but other than that there are sequels to famous shows and movies that have years to come.'
'This is the only good point of this world.' As Arwin is completely entranced by the movies on the projected screen.
'I am going to complete all the shows that I did not have the time to watch and that were on my watchlist.' Due to all the free time Arwin had he makes this promise to himself.
