The weekend was finally here, and Zina could hardly contain her excitement. After her productive study session with Kane, she felt more confident about economics, but there was another reason for her giddiness: Aria had invited her to a party that evening. It was a small gathering at one of their classmates' houses, and Aria insisted that it would be the perfect way to unwind after a grueling week of classes.
"Come on, Zina! It's going to be so much fun!" Aria had said, practically bouncing with enthusiasm over their lunch earlier that day. "Everyone will be there, and you can finally let loose a little!"
Zina had hesitated, feeling a little overwhelmed at the idea of socializing after focusing so hard on her studies. But the thought of spending time with her best friend and meeting new people was enough to sway her. Plus, it would give her a chance to see Kane in a different setting, away from the confines of studying.
As the sun began to set, painting the sky in hues of orange and purple, Zina stood in front of her closet, searching for the perfect outfit. She settled on a fitted black dress that hugged her curves just right. It was simple but elegant, a perfect balance for a casual party. After doing her hair and makeup, she felt ready to take on the evening.
When Zina arrived at the party with Aria, the atmosphere was already lively. The house was filled with music, laughter, and the chatter of students enjoying their freedom. Zina took a deep breath, letting the excitement wash over her. It felt good to be out and about, away from the stress of school.
"Let's get a drink first!" Aria suggested, pulling Zina toward the makeshift bar set up in the corner. "I need something to calm my nerves."
Zina chuckled, nodding in agreement. They both grabbed cups filled with a fruity punch that was sweet but packed a punch. As they walked through the crowd, Zina spotted familiar faces, exchanging greetings and smiles with classmates.
"Look! There's Kane and Alex!" Aria exclaimed, pointing to a group of guys standing near the center of the room. Zina's heart skipped a beat as she saw Kane, leaning casually against the wall, his presence commanding attention. He wore a fitted navy shirt that accentuated his build, and his dark jeans complemented his overall look.
Before Zina could say anything, Aria grabbed her hand and pulled her toward him. "Come on! We have to say hi!"
As they approached, Kane turned, his expression lighting up when he saw her. "Hey, Zina!" he greeted, his voice warm and inviting.
"Thanks for the tutoring session, Kane," Zina said, trying to keep her voice steady despite the fluttering in her stomach. "I really appreciate it."
"Anytime," he replied with a genuine smile. "You did great today. Just keep practicing, and you'll be fine."
Zina felt a rush of gratitude and admiration for him. The way he effortlessly mixed with everyone made her feel at ease. "I will. Thanks again," she said, feeling a bit shy.
Aria chimed in, "So, what's the plan for tonight? Are you joining us for the games later?" Aria asked Alex
"Absolutely," Alex replied, his eyes sparkling with mischief. "I brought some fun board games, and I'm ready to take on all challengers."
"Let's do it! I'll crush you!" Aria declared with playful confidence, her competitive spirit shining through.
Zina laughed, her nerves fading. The night was off to a great start. They chatted for a bit longer before a loud cheer erupted from a nearby room, drawing their attention.
"What was that?" Zina asked, tilting her head curiously.
"Probably the guys getting into a game of beer pong," Kane replied, his tone light. "Want to check it out?"
Aria nodded enthusiastically. "Absolutely! Let's go!"
As they made their way into the adjacent room, the atmosphere became even more electric. A crowd had gathered around a makeshift beer pong table, cheers and laughter filling the air as players took their shots. Zina felt a surge of excitement as she joined in with Aria and Kane and Alex.
"Let's team up!" Aria suggested, linking her arm with Zina's. "We'll show these guys how it's done."
Alex chuckled, "Alright, but just know I'm not going easy on you."
As they played, Zina found herself getting lost in the game, the competitive spirit igniting a sense of thrill within her. Aria was a great partner, and they quickly formed a rhythm, strategizing their shots and cheering each other on. The camaraderie was infectious, and soon they were laughing and celebrating every small victory.
After a few rounds, Zina took a break, stepping back to watch the next match unfold. As she sipped her drink, she glanced around, enjoying the lively energy of the party. It felt like everyone was letting loose and embracing the moment, a welcome change from their usual study sessions.
"Having fun?" Kane asked, appearing beside her.
Zina turned to him, a smile breaking across her face. "Definitely! I didn't think I'd enjoy it this much."
"Same I never thought a day would come where I would actually enjoy a party and it's probably because of you," he replied, leaning against the wall beside her "We should do this more often."
She shrugged, feeling a little shy but emboldened by the night's atmosphere. "I guess. Thanks for being part of it."
Kane looked at her, his expression shifting slightly. "I'm glad you came. It's nice to see you enjoying yourself outside of studying."
They shared a moment of silence, a comfortable understanding passing between them. Then, just as Zina was about to say something, Aria reappeared, dragging a couple of her classmates along.
"Zina! Come on! We're playing another round! You have to join us!" Aria called, her excitement palpable.
"Alright, I'm coming!" Zina replied, turning back to Kane with a grin. "You're still in?"
"Of course. I wouldn't miss it," Kane said, following her back into the fray.
As the night continued, Zina lost track of time. They played games, shared laughter, and even participated in a few silly party challenges that left everyone in stitches. The bond between her, Aria, Kane and Alex grew stronger, the playful banter and shared experiences forging a connection that felt genuine.
Eventually, the energy of the party began to wane, and people started to trickle out, leaving behind the remnants of a good time. Zina glanced at the clock and realized how late it had become.
"I should probably head back soon," she said, feeling a twinge of reluctance at the thought of leaving.
"Wait, let me walk you," Kane offered, his expression serious. "It's late, and I don't want you out there alone."
Zina hesitated, knowing that the campus was just a short walk away. "I appreciate it, but I can just walk with aria."
Kane shook his head, determination etched on his features. "Aria still looks like she wants to stay. Let me walk you."
"Fine," she relented, unable to resist his genuine concern. "Thanks, Kane."
As they stepped outside, the cool night air hit Zina, invigorating her senses. She and Kane walked side by side, the stars twinkling overhead.
"So, what did you think of the party?" Kane asked, glancing at her with a smile.
"It was amazing! I had so much fun," Zina replied, feeling the warmth of the evening lingering around them.
"I'm glad you enjoyed it. You really let loose," he observed, a teasing grin playing on his lips.
Zina laughed lightly, feeling more at ease with him. "I guess I did."
As they reached the campus entrance, Zina turned to Kane, her heart racing slightly. "Thanks Kane"
Kane looked at her, smiling. "Your welcome"
Zina nodded, feeling a flutter of warmth at his words. "I do. And it means a lot."
