Chapter 26 - Flame of Tatakai [1]

Tatakai City, where the Shinobi Conference was being held, where battle was celebrated. Though it was desolate. Apart from four individuals. Gādo Michi, Gasuto Kumo, Nami Bāsuto, and Yuki Shimo. They stayed behind in Tatakai, having been advised to by Misuto Ha before he and Honō Udon left for the Taiyō Desert.

However, it was not entirely desolate. No in fact, attempting few Yo-Kai had moved in. The heat in the air had risen to extreme degrees of warmth for kilometers upon kilometers. This in turn caused Yo-Kai that specialize in existence with heat, or manifested due to death by fire, to migrate in.

Gādo was walking down an empty street, wiping his brow of sweat from the heat. He recalled how one of the three God Class Yo-Kai the news reported was heading for Tatakai. His mind, and likely the minds of the others, had realized that if it was this hot so far away from the Yo-Kai, that did not bode well.

Suddenly, a Yo-Kai, resembling a monkey, whose flesh was burnt charcoal, and whose head was baptized in flame, burst forth. A Kazenbō. Gādo quirked an eyebrow, knowing Kazenbō from his studies of Yo-Kai from youth. Kazenbō were rare, only manifesting within the burning of Doragonist monks.

Gādo: "Damn, I feel bad for whatever happened to you when you were alive."

The Kazenbō let out a strained yell, its throat clearly on fire. The Yo-Kai lept towards Gādo with punch. The swordsman weaved to the side as the Kazenbō hit the pavement. Gādo was confident in his abilities, however Kazenbō were Beast Class, so caution was still necessary. Gādo took out his hair tie, which was made from tiny prayer beads, enchanted by a famed exorcist from the Kachi Era known as Furui, said to have taught Kachito Mishimura and Zotawa Rodin exorcism.

He clutched the hair tie, channeled his electric Kami no Chikara and began a chant.

Gādo: "In blessing of strength, in passing of defense, ne'er let a blade play amidst the fences of my power. A fist break through my rib. Dragon of Heavenly Divine, granting me your strength. The light that shines."

The beads eminated a violent purple and golden aura, whipping around and sparking like tiny lightning bolts. Empowered by the incantation, he drew his blade against the Kazenbō. The Yo-Kai shrieked, however held out a hand whilst assuming a martial stance. Kazenbō hadn't the temperament or mercy of the monks whose death birthed them, but they retained some fighting sense.

Gādo swung, his blade perfectly colliding as the Kazenbō maneuvered its left arm to catch the slash, gripping Gādo's sword arm with its right. Gādo exerted Kami no Chikara onto the grasped limb, which was empowered by the incantation he earlier chanted, shooting lighting through the Kazenbō and causing it to fly back.

After crashing into the empty pavement of a Tatakai street, the Kazenbō rose up and roared once again, however it was then immediately swept up in a large wave, empowered by its own incantation. Swiftly after, a katana pierced through the Kazenbō. Gādo raised an eyebrow, but once the wave cleared, a woman in a blue and white gi, black leggings, and nothing over her feet and heels. Her blue hair and white highlights combined with her technique helped Gādo recognize her.

Gādo: "Ah, Bāsuto, you finally joined me eh?"

Nami: "Mhm! Sorry for bein' late, but Nami Bāsuto's on this case!"

Gādo: "And then other two?"

Nami: "No idea with Shimo, but Kumo should be nearby, he gave me and Shimo the incantation so we all should be set!"

Gādo nodded, however he and Nami were interrupted by a swarm of more Kazenbō charging, at least a few dozen, all shrieking in howling, fiery pain. The pattering of their charred feet on the street echoing as they all barreled towards the two. They got into fighting stances, both of their katanas unsheathed.

But then, a tornado swept through them out of nowhere, the Kazenbō being sucked in and twirled around by the strong winds, before being pierced through the cores and dissipating. Their flames dying out. From the aftermath of the tornado came a boy wearing a white and green gi, green hair and white hair paired with pale skin and a scar over his right eye. Gasuto Kumo.

Gādo: "Great timing Kumo, we were just talking about you showing."

Gasuto: "Well I live to appease and make a good ass entrance, so you're welcome."

Nami: "Do you have any idea where Shino is, since you had such a convenient entrance?"

Gasuto: "Ah no...no...uh...no no no...yeah no."

Gādo sighed and shrugged, Nami putting a palm over her eyes. Gasuto scratched the back of his head and looking at the two.

Gasuto: "Hey, have faith the guy's pull through. He might just...even if he's a cold asshole who most definitely doesn't give a shit about us..."

Gasuto whispered that last part quickly, clearly not believing Shimo would show either. However then an extremely loud cat-sounding scream echoed from above, followed by a flaming ball crashing in front of the three.

From it, a quadrupedal Yo-Kai emerged. Taking the form of a large feline, it had sharp claws, fangs, and a long tail. Its whiskers and fur made of fire, and upon its back was an orb of blue fire, directly linking to its own back. It was a high end Beast Class Yo-Kai, a kind of Yo-Kai that was labeled Beast but could easily cause Disaster Class damage if left unchecked. A Feline of the Fires, a Kasha. And its flaming aura was ready to bring forth pain. To fight till it had its victory. And the worst part about the strong presence, the God Class Yo-Kai had yet to reveal itself.
