I opened my eyes to see Elspeth staring at me. The room was awfully bright, and I squinted as she slowly pulled her hand from my chest.
"Good morning," she greeted calmly.
"Good morning," I yawned, turning to face her properly. We held each other's gaze for a moment, lost in unspoken words between us.
"I'm sorry," we both said in unison.
Elspeth sighed, her shoulders relaxing. "I'll tell you everything, I promise. I went there—"
"It's okay. I believe you. I'm sorry for the stupid things I said yesterday. You can slap me again if you want. I deserve it."
"It's fine," she whispered, cupping my cheek gently. "I love you."
