I finished my painting with Elspeth watching and munching on snacks. Part of me wondered whether her focus was on me or just the food, even as she complimented every stroke of paint I made, which undeniably warmed my stomach. I had received updates from Edgar, mentioning that she barely ate while I was away, a stark contrast to the enthusiastic eater watching me now.
I wrapped up the painting just before dusk and set both canvases outside to dry. Then I headed back indoors to make popcorn and whip up a couple of chocolate milkshakes since we were out of actual snacks. Elspeth was in the bathroom washing up but returned later to watch me in the kitchen.
