(Nancy's POV)
I rolled to my left side to grab by buzzing phone. I've always loved to put my phone on airplane mode or total silence anytime I want to sleep or take a nap. But Mom had warned me against doing such a because there might an emergency from anywhere that might require my urgency. So I changed from that to DND (Do Not Disturb) and/or vibration. My eyes were still heavy as I tried to see the caller on the screen. My eyes widened at what I read. I sat up in a swift and rubbed my eyes. The phone was still buzzing and seemed it'd end soon. I cleared my throat and swiped the dancing call-sign on the phone screen upwards.
"Hi, Dave."
Ever since two days ago when we had a sight-seeing together, well, you can call it a sight-seeing, we realized we had quite a number of stuffs in common; we both loved watching nature take its due course, we loved novels, we both didn't like densed area, and we were both foodies. We exchanged contacts and promised to keep in touch. The only obstacle in my incoming friendship with Dave was his so-called baby sis. That lady seemed to be sent to disrupt my peace.
"Hi, Nancy. How are you doing today?" He said over the phone. Gosh, his voice was filled with tranquility, like a peaceful flowing water.
"I...hhunnh..I um, I'm fine actually..." I was trying to regain the strength in my voice. He probably noticed
"Did I wake you up from sleep?"
"Yes, but it's fine. I wasn't really sleeping, though." That was a lie. I was sleeping like a baby because my neighbor didn't play any music this afternoon. I later heard she went out. Thank goodness.
"Oh, so sorry. Actually, I was planning to come to see the sunset this evening, so I was wondering if you'll also be there."
"Ummmm, I'm not sure about that yet." In my mind, I yelled, 'YES! I'd love to see your replica with you.' But I had to remain my sensible self because I have no idea yet how this man reacts to emotions.
"Oh, it's fine then. I just wanted to ask if you'd be going..."
"I'd love to, but time isn't really on my side." Oh, I have more than enough time.
"It's fine. I enjoyed your company the other day, it's why I wanted to watch it with you."
My head went blank. I was beyond surprise. I couldn't think of any response and the silence between us went further till he broke it.
"Alright, catch you later then. I might come visit my sister this evening."
He was about to hang up when I chirped in, "I'll be there soon" and hang up. I bounced up and dashed to the bathroom.
This would be the beginning of our friendship and probably to the next level and the next and next.
