The memories of this traveler actually contain many elements that Ryan finds regrettable.
Many critical aspects that exist in this memory are merely known to the traveler; he does not know how to create them.
For example, according to the original owner's understanding in the memory, the 'essential' soap formula for travelers and the steam engine that could liberate contemporary civilization...
However, this is probably for the best, as Ryan can enjoy his retirement peacefully without being burdened by some heavy destiny.
Upon entering the kitchen, although it isn't as "modern" as the traveler's memory depicts, it proves perfectly adequate for cooking.
Many of the necessary spices from the memory can be easily replaced.
Indeed, though the exact flavor is unknown, finding spices based on the memory's description certainly yields satisfactory results.
Taking the ingredients that Daisy had just bought, Ryan rolls up his sleeves, ready to cook a very ordinary home-cooked dish himself.
The flavor should be somewhat lighter, as the local palate cannot handle overly strong tastes.
As soon as the ingredients hit the pan, Daisy's brow slightly furrows, immediately noticing Ryan's inexperienced cooking methods.
However, as the aroma of the food wafts through the air, Daisy's expression relaxes.
Understandably, having served as a knight for ten years, it's normal that some skills would become rusty.
"Smells wonderful!"
Daisy pops her head in, fork in hand and unexpectedly reaching towards the pot: "Let me taste!"
With a knock on Daisy's head using his knuckle, Ryan remarks, "This is for the young miss, ours are in the next batch."
"Hehehe..."
Rubbing her head, Daisy giggles foolishly.
Such a simpleton...
After a silent monologue, Ryan continues to focus on the dish.
Soon, as the dish nears completion, Ryan takes a plate from Daisy and serves the food at the dining table, then pours a hot cup of milk, before knocking on Nana Lili's door.
Throughout the day, Nana Lili confined herself to her room, her activities unknown.
"Young miss, it's time for dinner."
The door slowly opens, and Nana Lili, peering up at Ryan with her azure eyes, then walks silently towards the dining table without uttering a word.
Though Nana Lili is silent, to Ryan, this seemingly indicates her quiet acceptance of his role as her personal butler.
Following Nana Lili to the table, Ryan helps her into her chair and ties a napkin around her neck while handing her the cutlery.
Truth be told, the entire process made Ryan appear somewhat clumsy, amusing the two nearby maids.
Upon seeing the dish on the table, Nana Lili pauses for a moment and then looks towards Ryan.
She is quick to notice that this isn't a dish made by Daisy.
Given that Nana Lili usually eats very simple meals, this dish is somewhat overly complex in comparison and not particularly pleasing to the eye.
Ryan, with a smile, explains, "This is a mysterious dish I learned from another country; I hope it suits your taste."
Meanwhile, Ryan thinks it might be time to consider making some chopsticks because, given the myriad cuisines in his memory, using a fork and knife might prove cumbersome.
Nana Lili nods, picking up her cutlery and eyeing the dish, which admittedly lacks appeal, stirring a moment of hesitation within her.
"Could this new butler be poisoning me?"
Ryan, having been aware of Nana Lili's prior inquiries about him, reflects on this and other uncertainties tied to his unexpected return on the day of Old Ram's death.
The scent of the dish eventually wins over Nana Lili, prompting her to take a cautious first bite.
Immediately, her body stiffens noticeably as an unparalleled burst of flavors—savory, salty, and sweet—from perfectly blended ingredients dance across her taste buds, leaving no room for displeasure.
Delicious!
Daisy and Daisy's reactions stiffen momentarily as well.
But soon, Nana Lili relaxes and continues to eat, now at a notably quicker pace.
"Always a child at heart..."
Ryan squints, amused, standing behind Nana Lili.
Daisy, observing Nana Lili eat, unconsciously swallows her saliva—a sound loud enough for Nana Lili to hear if she weren't deaf.
Daisy covers her face with her hand, embarrassed for her younger sister.
Soon, Nana Lili completely clears her plate.
Watching her put down her cutlery and wipe her mouth, Ryan asks with a smile, "How was the taste?"
"Average," Nana Lili replies, avoiding eye contact with Ryan and speaking softly, her tone tinged with a hint of charm.
Seeing this, Ryan can't help but find Nana Lili quite endearing.
Despite being previously told of her challenging character, Ryan has yet to see any proof of that.
If one were to speak of challenging characters, Ryan in his earlier days was much more so than Nana Lili.
After dinner, Ryan escorts Nana Lili back to her room before returning to the dining table, only to find that Daisy has already taken the dishes for cleaning.
Daisy then leaps up, clinging to Ryan's arm: "Mr. Ryan, I'm still hungry!"
Ryan shakes his arm, trying unsuccessfully to dislodge her, and sighs, "Indeed, young lady, don't you understand personal boundaries?"
"I'm hungry!"
"Alright, alright, I'll make you something to eat. Just sit nicely."
"Okay!"
Upon hearing this, Daisy promptly sits up straight like a schoolchild, eyes twinkling as she watches Ryan head to the kitchen.
Ryan picks up the remaining ingredients to prepare a meal for three.
Daisy finishes washing the dishes and comes over to help Ryan.
"Mr. Ryan, please don't mind Daisy too much... She treated Mr. Ram the same way, likely placing you in Mr. Ram's role," Daisy softly explains.
"Mr. Ram's passing was quite a blow to Daisy... Indeed, before seeing you, she was rather gloomy."
Hearing this, Ryan pauses his cooking briefly, then says, "Don't worry, I harbor no ill feelings towards her."
In fact, Ryan relishes the interaction.
After a decade among knights, daily mingling with a crew of coarse men, yearning for female company is only natural.
It seems Old Ram had considered this when previously discouraging any such encounters.
But within Ryan's mind resides a traveler's memory.
That memory harbors a strong yearning for the opposite sex and countless bizarre visions akin to projections from a magic stone, causing an unbearable ache in Ryan's gut throughout his tenure as a knight.
On the whole, the memory's owner seems a rather degenerate individual, seemingly engaging in many physical endeavors known for their harm.
Should this entity successfully hijack his body, who knows what he might do with it.
The thought sends a shiver down Ryan's spine.
Self-discipline is crucial.
He must not let the desires from the memory overpower his reason.
