It was a gloomy night dear readers ! So gloomy that it make me wonder will the sadness ever stop or will it continue to anguish me forever as the time goes on ? I was never a decent person in my life. I believed that i've lived a miserable live, not because that i've had a lot of regrets. In fact it's the other way around ! I've had so a few ! But among those regrets there are one that kept replaying in my minds. I rarely pay attention to anything. I believed that it was always unnecessary to pay attention to life. If i ever given the opportunity to live the same life that i've lived. I will turn it down. Have i always the way i am ? No, dear readers the answer is no for those who wonders. But, just as i mentioned previously, among the regrets there's one that kept haunt me to this very time. The only regrets that make me wish for a better outcome of it ! So much so that i'll always cried out loud my sadness everytime it replayed in my mind ! My only and only happiness ! Dear readers ! Have you ever wished for something that impossible for it to happen ? And even you know it will never happen you just kept wishing and praying for it ? Even when your belief for god has disappeared long ago ? Have you ever be in the state of desperation ? So desperate that it put you in mental torment ? Enough ! I've had enough of this nonesense ! Dear readers, have you ever fall in love ? If the answer is yes, what is your perspective of love ? A blessing ? A gift ? Or perhaps even a curse ? I've lost my faith in love long time ago. Not that i denied the existence of it. In fact, it make me more aware of it existence. Dear readers, if you were given a chance of being with your lover in their last hour, will you accept it ?
Pardon me dear readers. Permit me to bring you to one of my regrets. Dear readers, just to let you know that I was a stupid man at the time. If i ever to be the man i am now i will have no regrets. I will start my story now dear readers !
It was a sunny evening in summer. Somewhere in the state i were walking down the embankment while humming to myself. This is has been the only way for me to express my happiness, well just like how you expect a capricious,bad tempered and lonely man who have no acquintance nor does a friend to share his happiness with. I never realized this until now - that if i was not mistaken i think i've seen a girl crying at the corner at the end of the canal. I usually never pay attention and show no care for any person sadness or happiness. But, something about her sadness that ache my heart to approach her and asked her regarding her well being. But,i know things like this only happen in novel and novellas and if it ever to happen in real life people will just ignore it and walk away. The same thing i did, i decided to walk away and ignore it. But, the more i walk away the more it aches my heart i decided to turn around and approach her. Well im pretty sure of it that she noticed my existence and moreover im pretty sure she noticed that my wish to approach her. Which make her decided to walk away from the corner of the canal. Well because of this particular move from our lady that indicates a clear sign that says "I dont want anybody to approach or disturb me" or "Leave me alone" i decided to ignore it and walks away just like how the lady intended me to do. But, it came to my account immediately that they were a man who has been observing the lady. I turned around to take a look at my lady and saw the man chasing her down. Immediately, i ran towards the lady. Till now, im completely aware that im not athletic at all. So i know no matter how fast i forced my leg to move it wont catch up to the lady nor does to the gentleman. I may not be athletic but i've got a brain. I picked up one of the stick and throws it to the man. It's probably just luck ,but, the stick hit the man's leg and resulting in him fell down. I quickly try my best to cathes up with my lady.
"Give me your hand" i said to her.
I can clearly tell that there were a bit of hesitation in her eyes but she decided to gave me her hand and i ran away with her as fast as possible to the city. After a while of running i've had enough. My legs could no longer run anymore. Fortunately the man also seems to lost track. I took a glance on my lady and she turned out to be very beatiful and fine lady. Her eyes were dark brown. She's a brunnete. Her hair were soft and silky and long lenghted one. Her skin is so smooth it make me want touch it. Her lips were so glossy and seducing. No doubt any man who sees her will have the thought of "I want to marry her !" And i wasn't excluded,but im aware of who i am.
"Are you hurted ?" I asked her in rather gentle tone.
She just shakes her head and im pretty sure i can heard her whimpering noise a bit.
"Can you walk ?" I asked her, to this day it always cringed me to think that i uttered such a question to her.
Our lady here homewer just nodded. I assume she were a timid type.
"May i ask you a question ?" I asked her
She then just nodded.
"What were you doing at the corner at the end of the canal ?" I asked
She just freezes and i assume she was not willing to answer the question.
"Nevermind,i'll change my question. Do you by any chance know what the guy were up for ?"
"My body" she replied "They were chasing my body! Mister if it wasn't for you then right now i probably will be sold as a prostitute for some perverted man" she replied.
"Pardon me, but do you have anywhere that you can go ?" I asked
She later shake her head "I've had no place to go anymore they kicked me out." she replied.
It aches my heart to see such a poor lady to be in this condition.
"Take my hand and we will find a place for you to stay" I suggested.
She took my hand and we start walking to the city.
To this day i dont know if it just my intuition or what it somehow felt like i know this girl already from somewhere but i couldn't recalled it. Strange enough because i've rarely interacted with girl well actually i rarely interacted with any human being in general ! But, somehow it felt like that this encounter wasn't my first encounter with her.
After a while of walking around the city we both started to get tired.
"Im sorry but it's looks like we couldn't find any place for you to stay" I told her in rather pessimistic tone
"It's okay you already help me the previous hour. Im afraid i couldn't repay your kindness back"
"You dont need to repay my kindness at all. It already became my responsibility as a man to help my lady who's in trouble" I told her in rather sarcastic tone
She giggled a bit "Im sorry , okay !" She then smiled. It looks like she's cheer up a little
"May i know your name ?" I asked
"Of course, my name is Aria" she replied with a smile
"Aria….. that's a beautiful name"
"Is it ?" She blushed
I let out a chuckle "Yes it is a beautiful name"
"May i know dear Aria ? What was your planned if i we aren't be able to find a place for you to stay tonight ?"
"Well,the truth is i don't even know it myself mister" she chuckled
"Do you have any relatives you can rely on ? Or any acquaintances in this city ?"
"No,mister. Both of my parents are an only child and i have no friends or whatsoever."
Just like i guessed before she was a timid girl
"Well then we can't let you sleep outside what if the man decided to comeback and take you away my dear Aria ?"
To this point you might ask this question to me "Why don't you bring her home ?" The answer is simple my dear reader ! I was ashamed ! "What are you ashamed of ?" Everything dear readers ! To this very point i played a character of a gentleman who is kind and trustworthy infront of her. Im afraid if i invite her to stay at my place my true self will be reveal ! Beside that,im pretty sure Aria wont be comfortable staying at my place someone she just know not more than an hour.
"Mister, if i ask you something will you take that as selfish request?"
"What is it my dear Aria ?"
"I dont want to stay at any place tonight"
"That doesn't seems like a selfish request for me"
"Let me finish it first !" she said while stomping her feet at the ground
"I doesn't want to stay at any place tonight. Instead i want to wander around the city"
"Is that your only request"
She took a deep breath "I want to wander around the city and i want you to accompany me by my side" she said shyly
"Is that too much for you mister ?" she asked me
"No it wasn't" I replied "But may i know why you choose to wander around the city my dear Aria ?" I asked
"I…..i have no particular reason"
"It's just felt more comfortable to wander around the city with you mister as my company"
I noded "Well if that what you want"
We then proceed to wander around the city for the whole night. Oh my dear readers ! It was indeed a long night. We wander through the city the entire hours ! But somehow it was tireless night for both me and my dear Aria !
"Mister,may i ask you why you were humming to yourself when you walking down the embankment this evening ?"
"I was just so happy at that time"
"Really ? And why is that mister ?"
"Nothing much in particular"
"What is it mister you dont have to be so secretive"
"My dear Aria have you ever feel like life crushing us from every side and angle and then suddenly you realized it doesn't matter anymore ? That once you realized it you started to find peace in every chaos ? That you started to find pleasure in every pain ? And you find a happiness in every sadness ? My dear Aria ! That's my reason for you that wonder"
"You dont have to be so complex in describing it mister. Otherwise i couldn't understand it" she giggled
"Don't worry my dear Aria. You dont have to understand it"
"Well it's now my turn to ask you"
"Well, go ahead mister !"
"May i inquire you the same question as before ? What is the causes of your sadness the previous evening my dear Aria ?"
"It nothing particular" she took deep breath
"Of course it's a thing otherwise you won't be crying this evening"
"Mister, i am too same like you mister. I'm too realized something within myself mister. I just thought to myself what is the meaning of life ? Why did god put me through this torment ? What sin did i committed to receive such a punishment ?"
I noticed this that her eyes started a glisten a tears it made me felt a slight if guilt for asking her such questions
"Mister, what will you do if you know that one day you wont wake up from your sleep anymore ? That one day everything going to disappear to the eternal darkness-you will be in state of eternal slumber. What will you do mister ?"
"My dear Aria" i later intrupted "It's okay you doesn't have to figure it out everything just yet my dear Aria !"
"But mister, the thought of it kept haunt me down mister. It's anguish me mister."
"My dear Aria !" I holded her hand and squeezed it
"You don't need to bear the thought by yourself my dear Aria. You can cry on my shoulder my dear Aria !"
she cover her face in my shoulder and cry into my shoulder.
The night is about to end. The sun start to rise from its horizon
she wiped her tears and sniff
"Thank you mister, i dont know how i could repay you mister"
"You dont have to my dear Aria !"
"Mister may i ask you something"
"What is it my dear Aria ?"
"Mister this my selfish request and you're the only person i know that could grant me this"
"Tell me my dear Aria ! Tell me !"
"Mister, may you accompany me through my night mister ?"
"Why is that my dear Aria ?"
"There wasn't any particular reason other than you're the first person that i know i ever talked to other than my family."
"Are you sure my dear Aria ? Are you sure you trust me ?"
"That question make ne trusted you even more mister ! No man will asked that kind of question but to make sure they want to make others comfortable with them"
"Well then,Aria im gladly accepted your request"
"Thank you mister !"
"But before you go may i ask couple more questions ?"
"Go ahead mister !"
"Where will you stay this day ?"
"I've had a place in minds to visit and the city is safe when it's day"
"Fine. Where will we meet for the night"
"This place infront of this exact bench" she pointed at the bench.
I looked up at the bench and then smile at her
"Alright then,take care !"
"I will" she replied with a chuckle
"See you tonight" i waved at her
"Yes mister we'll see each other again tonight" she waved at me with a smile.
