I awoke assaulted by the cold sharp winds blowing across my face. The cave only provided moderate protection from wind and all I wanted was to rest from climbing somewhere out of the elements.
I packed the few things I brought with me and the ones I gathered during my trek. I was prepared to continue the ascent to the peak, even if my body only wanted to rest. I wasn't looking forward to more climbing but there was no going back now. I had to keep going, I must continue going, I must not give up.
After an hour or so of walking through the wilderness, it started to snow. I was being showered by snow, and my clothing became wet and uncomfortable. I was shivering slightly and realized I should have packed better clothing for this type of weather. My mother told me it could be very dangerous to be exposed to cold weather without having proper clothing. I was afraid this would keep me from reaching the peak.
Back home I saw the other children react very negatively towards snow, but I enjoyed the crisp numbing sensation I felt when I played in it. I guess I shouldn't think about them now, they probably don't remember me.
The trek was easy at first since I was shielded by the trees. It felt like just walking through the woods but once I cleared the trees I encountered only rock as far as my eyes could see. I found a path to climb up, it was the easiest but not the most direct.
I willed myself to continue climbing, and climbing, and climbing, and climbing...
...
There were not many places to rest while climbing, so I had to keep going. I finally reached a clearing that I judged was about a quarter-ways up the mountain. I was making solid progress just not enough, I wanted to be up this mountain in days, but now it seemed it'd take at least a month to fully reach the peak. I did not know if I had enough food or water to last me that long. Hopefully, I could find food along the way.
I looked around and saw that the clearing was about a square mile and had a forest with tall trees. This surprised me since I did not see this from below. I walked to the first tree and punched it. I was surprised to see a dent in the shape of my fist. I knew that I was getting stronger but not by this much!
If using just a small amount of my power created such a deep impression on the tree, I wonder what my full strength will do. On that note, using all of my strength, I threw a punch at the nearest tree, I saw a crack formed along the middle and after a few seconds, the tree toppled over.
I was too strong! I thought about my encounter with the lion and I wondered how easily I could kill it now. I may be overestimating myself too much but I had seen how easily that tree fell.
