Summary: Another old tale of darkness
Rose looked down at the young girl in front of her. "The first time in a while I've shown up to a royal wand presentation … I wish it could have been done under better circumstances." Rose sighed, despondent.
"It's better than no one showing up at all." Eclipsa could barely keep it straight, and Rose couldn't blame her. Soon not only would she be handed the wand, she'd take up her mother's throne at such a young age, where the Commission would be ready to pounce and guide her every move with as many strings as possible. "Rose, tell me…was it quick?"
"I don't know myself." Rose answered. "I wasn't there to see."
"Hmm … I don't blame them, you know." Eclipsa answered. "Vengeance, however wrong, can be justified to some extent. Minor things can be forgiven but … they all went too far." She tightened her hand. "I can't answer that rage myself."
Rose would be a hypocrite to say the girl was wrong to feel how she was. She felt the same rage when Skywynne died, when Solaria began taking it too far, when Blue and Yellow just ignored her pleas and kidnapped a bunch of humans for a zoo. "I want to help you in your grief, so anything you want, just say the word."
The girl let out a mirthless chuckle. "I'm sorry, but unless you can copy me perfectly, I don't think I can ask you to stand in while I have some fun."
"Oh, if only I wasn't so pink, we might actually be able to pull it off." It worked wonders when Pearl did it for her…baring the last time they did it.
"I suppose it's time." Eclipsa grasped the wand within her hand, holding the blade down. It looked like it was pulled, hitting the ground, dipping into Ecliplsa's shadow as the dark mass wrapped around and enveloped it. With a dark purple flash, it became an umbrella. "A lovely little shade by my side."
"Definitely a little more eloquent than its previous form." Rose sighed, glad to see the wand wasn't in the form of a sword after so long. "I can hold off the Commission for the rest of the day, you can use the secret passage to meet with Globgore if you want." The size changer was a very sweet man, someone Rose wouldn't have minded making a pass on if he wasn't so dedicated to the girl.
"Thank you Rose." The princess … Now the queen, smiled brightly. "You really are the shield of Butterflies."
"I've sworn to protect all of Mewni… the Butterfly on the other hand, I've always sworn to be their friend." She caressed the girl's face, wishing she could protect Eclipsa from the burden that would now plague her.
When the ceremony was over, it was just her and an aging Jushtin left in the room, watching from the far back. "Will you ever tell her how it happened?" The man spoke softly.
"Not if I can help it." She looked down, just adding it to the pile of secrets she's sworn to keep.

Garnet watched as the tree burned to ashes, completely and utterly destroyed in a matter of seconds. "Incineration spell … interesting." The queen noted with a smile.
The fusion usually tried to avoid matters when it came to dealing with Mewni and more mystical threats, but Rose asked for her help on occasion, and as her teammate and friend, Garnet would move mountains if she was asked to.
However, that didn't serve to help lessen the unease Garnet felt looking at Eclipsa, who with a simple smile, would surround the area in black mist that shivered what she was certain was her soul from its mere presence.
"Let's see, what's next…hm…" A black sort of light formed in the air, shaping into a black butterfly. "Midnight…shriek…" a ghastly whale echoed in the air, as it collided into a nearby wall, burning it with black fire.
"You're doing a great job, Eclipsa." Rose smiled. "These are some very impressive spells." And it didn't help that Rose was completely supportive of it as well. She knew the gem felt responsible, but that should mean guiding the woman down the right path.
"Are you sure you should be encouraging dark magic?" Garnet asked.
"Garnet, please. Dark magic is just a type of magic. It's not any more evil than the monsters Mewmen say roam the forests." Rose waved off. "Isn't that right Glossaryck?"
"Like I always say on every whenever I want, life is a stew, all the ingredients matter." And here the asshole was agreeing with Rose for a change.
"It's just…don't you think there's a reason for why it's called dark magic?" Garnet tried to press on with reason.
"Because it comes out of the shadows and is colored black?" Glossaryck asked rhetorically.
"Because people assume something that derives from the darkness it must automatically spell about doom and gloom?" Eclipsa added on. "Yet one of the most beautiful times of the day is night, when the black night sky brings us stars and the ever luminescent moon."
"It's not just the name, it's the effects." Garnet pressed on. "A spell for spying on people?"
"Says Future Vision." Rose noted.
"I dunno, the duo do raise a fair point." She would punch him one of these days. "Spying leads to crying."
"Oh, says the omniscient spy." Garnet groaned.
"I'm only doing what I can to expand my knowledge. No stone should ever be left unturned." Eclipsa said as she bit into a candy bar. "Knowing something in of itself isn't a crime against nature. All knowledge is good knowledge."
"Rose, a minute of your time, please?" She asked l, leading her friend behind a rose bush. "You know my future vision isn't the best when it comes to magic, but with her, it's a giant blind spot. I genuinely can't tell if anything she says or does is of malicious intent or not."
"Garnet, you should see her and Globgore together." Rose chuckled. "They treat each other like flowers, the latter even being convinced to be a vegetarian by her. She has a heart, she just likes things others don't." Rose looked at her. "I remember a time where Homeworld assumed Fusion was just as 'taboo'."
"I should've seen that you would play that card." Garnet laughed a bit half heartedly. "You're positive she's on our side, and this isn't some kind of trap we're walking into?"
"Of that I can be certain of." Rose nodded. "I know her too well, she's not one for violence. She doesn't even hurt teenagers that threaten her life … just psychologically scar them."
"That alone is a red flag to watch out for."
"Amethyst alone does worse whenever she messes with those human settlers back on earth with her shapeshifting."
"True." The fusion sighed, seeing that Rose wasn't going to give up on her stance. "Just…why so much investment in the Butterfly family?"
"I see a lot of what gems could be in them the most out of all Mewmans, both the good and the bad. And I made a promise to help guide that light into a bright future."

Eclipsa continued writing in the planner. "I'm lucky I found that paint generating spell … but are you sure you'll be fine with Shastican while i'm running?" She asked her lifelong companion.
"Please, that creep couldn't tell a rose from a violet, or a diamond from a quartz." The tall figure, friend to her family for three generations by this point, chuckled. "I bet I can have him as well as the commission fooled for a week."
"Pull that off, and the snookers on me." She laughed, before turning serious."I wasn't asking if you could or couldn't do it though. I was asking if you were okay … he's not a nice man and you'll have to play a docile role."
"It wouldn't be the first time I lived under someone abusive." Rose spoke in a bitter tone that she caught the gem going into every so often. "I have…experience in this sort of situation."
"I'm sorry to dig up those memories." Eclipsa leaned back against her bed. "This is it, just a hop skip and soon me and Globgore will have our lives together. Drinking milk, dancing in the moonlight, flying through the skies, tender and ravenous nights."
"Imagine the princess that reads you have a 'how to date monsters' guide inside of your book." Rose snorted.
"I tried to be as helpful as possible. We all go through those phases of experimenting taste." Eclipsa laughed. "Just imagine the look on everyone's face when they learn the Queen of Mewni has a half monster baby…oops, guess I revealed that a little earlier."
Rose gasped. "You're pregnant! Why didn't you tell me?" The tall woman whispered, turning to get a look at her face with excitement in her eyes.
"I just found out yesterday, imagine my surprise to find out a little bundle of joy has slowly formed in my tummy." Eclipsa had to hold down a squeak.
"That's just one of the things that amazes me about organic life. You can just decide to make life when you want to, and there's no telling how it'll come out or how they'll act." Rose rubbed her now pregnant stomach.
"With any luck, she'll take after her daddy more than me." Eclipsa smiled.
"I hope the opposite." Rose smiled at the woman. "You're an amazing candle Eclipsa, you lived a beautiful life."
"Oh you charmer." She chuckled. "Thank you for everything Rose." The soon to be former queen wrapped her arms around the gem. "You're the greatest friend I could've asked for in this universe." She only hoped Rose could find the same kind of happiness someday."

"Stand back monster scu-" Globgore threw away the guard as he stormed the castle. He ignored every spear and arrow, every stab and punch. He moved forward, without mercy.
"It was perfect, everything was finally perfect!" He screams, smashing through wall after wall to find his target. "We were happy to let the world go on without us, we would stay hidden from Mewni forever! But no!!" He smashed his way into the throne room, where the spineless coward the people of the land called a king shook in fear. "You choose to attack my family! To steal away my daughter!"
"Yo-you stole what was rightfu-fully mine, I stole what's yours!" The bastard known as Shastican responded timidly. "Th-that's how your b-backwards thinking works, right?"
"I stole nothing!! She left on her own!" He strolled up and grabbed the man by his waist. "But you took her, and you took my daughter! You will tell me where they are now, and I might be willing to only eat one of your limbs!" Globgore screamed into the man's face.
"Ah… Ah.. Eclipsa's already been crystallized by Rhombulous, there's no way to free her, even if you had the wand!" The cowards cried out his reply. "As for..for your devil spawn.."
"Her name is Meteora!" He roared out, sinking his claws into the man's flabby sides.
"She's gone! I had her hidden away, far away from the rest of the world so no one would see her heinous face again!"
"You … what?" She was gone, she was gone, she was gone, his baby was gone because he wasn't STRONG ENOUGH! "Tell me where you hid her now before I devour your head!!" He shouted, feeling his claws draw blood.
"I don't know! I swear, I didn't want anything to do with her, no one in the Magical High Commission did! We just wanted her out of the way so her tainted blood wouldn't infect the throne!"
"Tainted blood!? You think we're all evil freaks of nature!?" He growled. "Then how about I eat you, for funsies!!"
"Globgore please, Eclipsa wouldn't have wanted this!" He turned and glared at the panicked Rose Guard. "Don't get yourself killed for him, he's not worth it! Meteora is still out there, we can find and raise her!"
"Raise her..in this kind of world?! Where she's judged before even having the chance to think her first thought!?" Globgore yelled at his wife's longtime friend. "Eclipsa wanted to be patient, we both knew the mewmans wouldn't be ready.." He turned back to the coward in his grip. "The truth is though…I'm not ready either!"
"No..stay back..put me down..I don't want to die!"
"You already made your bed." With that, he extended his jaw, swallowing the man whole with a single gulp, letting out a sigh as he heard the door kicked down. "Do your worst, Mewni, Magic Commission … you can't do anything else to hurt me."
"I can take you out of here." Rose called out to him in a quiet whisper. "We can…"
"I'm sorry…but without Eclipsa…without Meteora…there's barely a point in living anymore." He patted the hero of Mewni. "Please do what you can … that's all I ask."
========================================================================
"Where is she!?" Lekmet watched the Rose Guard barge in, Rombulus falling behind.
"I'm right here." Hekapoo called out from her chair, anger on her face. Everyone had anger, learning about this atrocity.
"You know that's not what I damn ment! Where is Meteora Butterfly!"
"She's half monster, that alone doesn't make her a Butterfly." Omnitraxus stated the obvious.
"Who cares about the name?! She's an innocent girl that's barely had time to learn how to breathe, let alone think about some stupid wand and title!"
"Baaahhh." Lekmet voiced his opinion.
"Replace her?! You can't just replace a person like it's nothing!"
"Actually we can." Raynaldo stated. "We just need to find a baby Mewman, give them the title, then we can erase this mistake of history."
"Mistake…mis…do you know who you sound like right now to me?! Homeworld! You think you can just stamp out lives on a whim, decide who's useful and who is not based on what you think is right?!"
"Well yeah, that's why we imprisoned Eclipsa." Rhombulus stated. "I can't believe it, betraying Mewni like that!"
"She betrayed nothing, she found happiness!" Rose argued.
"She abandoned the throne and left Mewni without a queen!" Heckapoo shouted. "She'd abandoned her own people and ran off with a monster, after all the work Solaria put in to clear them out!"
"... You … agreed … with that woman!?" She shouted in rage.
"Baaahhh." Lekmet voiced the agreement of the Commission.
"Exactly, she was the best exterminator we've had in years. If she hadn't died in that accident she might have done a better job of raising her daughter to not become some freak." Omnitraxus waved off.
"Freak!!?" A shockwave of pink emanated from Rose, making them all step back as a crater formed in the ground. "So liking someone with claws, fangs, and horns, which most of you have, makes them a freak? But describing in detail the vast ways to mutilate someone makes them the 'best queen ever'?!?"
"Now you're starting to see why I'm such a disappointed father." Glossaryck stated, eating some pudding and not treating the situation with any seriousness at all.
"Baaahhhh." They had standards, if monsters threatened the line it would be either eradicated or fixed.
"You could've just left her alone! Leave them with me and I'll make sure they don't even have to worry about coming from a horrid place like this."
"No way." Rhombulus huffed. "They're criminals, and I would have iced them all. You're just lucky I spared the baby."
"It shouldn't HAVE TO BE SPARED IN THE FIRST PLACE!" The shockwave grew stronger. "Tell me where she is, now! Or I walk out on the next queen!!"
"That's treason you're talking about..and I think it's about time we take care of that free spirit of yours." Heckapoo snapped her fingers, and in a flash, the Rose Guard was encased in crystal. "Maybe in fifty or so years we can let her out."
Golssaryck started to laugh. "What's got you laughing about this terrible situation?" Raynaldo asked with a raised eyebrow.
"It's just funny how badly you treated the line of life and death for someone so immortal, you know?" They spoke cryptically.
"She's one gem. Powerful and useful, sure, but there's no need to take in such caution for a single cut out of a million…"
Crack
For the second time in all of eternity … Rhombulus's prism cracked, further and further, before shattering. Rose stood there in silence. The Magic High Commission could only stare in shock at the feat before them. "I am only going to say this once …" And turned to them with a glare.
Light, Dark, Creation, Destruction, Time, Space, it was shoved through him and the room. "I …" Magic beyond normal magic, energy flooding and cracking everything as Lekmet felt his mind strain from force. "... Do …" So much power, so much force, so big, expansive, so warm, so Pink. "... What …" Pink, an all encompassing Pink that drowned them all within it, devouring all that came to be in an overwhelming warmth of Pink. "...I…" All that existed was pink and good and bad and all of existence crashed down on him, the bonding of Pink, there was no hope, only Pink. "...P̷̺̫͌̂͜͝ľ̵̪̫̈́̅̚ẽ̴͈̭̪̌̅̃a̷̛̫̲͕̿̉s̷̥͔̐͌e̸͖͎͂̊̒."
"What…what the hell are you?" Hekapoo, the normally fearless and endlessly confident demon said as if she was a frightened school girl.
"I'm a gem that fights for Mewni … for its queens AND its monsters." With that the Rose Guard walked out, leaving them all with silence and terror.
"I told you guys, don't mess with Pink." And an asshole.
