"I'm already home," I said to my mom just minutes before I arrived at our doorstep. As I turned to look at Roman, a smile spread across my lips at the sight of him leaning in to kiss my cheek. "I guess this is goodbye," I added softly. He nodded, a slightly wistful expression crossing his face before he retreated to his seat.
"I'll give you a call," he promised, and it was only then that I noticed the first droplets of water beginning to fall from the sky. The clouds had darkened ominously, signaling the impending rain that threatened to pour down heavily.
"I need to go before the rain gets heavy," I told Roman, glancing anxiously at the gathering storm as I opened the car door and stepped outside. "Bye"
