Emilia stood before the old clock tower, its crumbling stones looming above her.
Midnight.
The note had specified alone, but Emilia sensed Ryker's hidden presence nearby.
A figure emerged from the shadows, hood up and face obscured.
"Welcome, Emilia," the Archon said, voice low and gravelly.
Emilia's hand rested on the crossbow at her back. "What do you want?"
The Archon stepped closer, its presence commanding. "I want to show you the truth."
With a sweep of its cloak, the Archon revealed a hidden entrance behind the clock tower.
"Follow me," it said.
Emilia hesitated, but curiosity won out.
She descended into the darkness, the Archon leading the way.
They walked through narrow tunnels, the air thick with dust.
Finally, they reached a vast underground chamber.
Emilia's eyes widened.
Rows of ancient artifacts lined the walls, and a massive, ornate mirror dominated the center.
The Archon's gaze locked onto hers. "Your family's legacy is tied to this mirror."
Emilia's heart pounded. "What does it do?"
The Archon's smile hinted at secrets. "It holds the key to controlling the werewolves."
Emilia's grip on the crossbow tightened. "You'll never use it."
The Archon chuckled. "Oh, but I already have."
Suddenly, the mirror flared to life, its surface rippling like water.
Emilia's reflection stared back, but it was distorted, her eyes glowing yellow.
The Archon's voice whispered in her ear. "You're more than just a guardian."
Emilia's world tilted.
What did the Archon mean?
And what secrets lay hidden within the mirror?
