Chapter 42 - Chapter 42: The Game Begins

The sun was setting over Yorknew City, casting long shadows across the bustling streets as the group made their way toward the auction house. The atmosphere buzzed with energy as people from all over the world gathered for the event. This was where the final auction for the rare and coveted game, Greed Island, was taking place—a game known not just for its rarity, but for the deadly challenges it presented to its players.

Gon, Killua, and Biscuit walked ahead, their expressions filled with anticipation. They had been planning for this moment for weeks, and now, with Tanjiro, Nezuko, and Yūka by their side, they felt ready to face whatever lay ahead.

Tanjiro, his hand resting on the hilt of his sword, glanced at the towering auction house with a mixture of curiosity and determination. They had come so far since crossing into this new world, and though the journey had been difficult, they had grown stronger—both in their abilities and their bond as a team.

"Are you ready for this?" Gon asked, turning back to Tanjiro with a bright grin. "Greed Island isn't like anything we've faced before. It's a game, but it's also real life. If we get hurt in there, it's permanent."

Tanjiro nodded, his expression serious but calm. "We're ready. We've trained hard, and we'll face whatever challenges come our way."

Nezuko, standing beside her brother, hummed softly in agreement. Her glowing eyes reflected the excitement and tension of the moment, but her calm demeanor showed she was prepared for the dangers ahead.

Yūka, quiet as always, walked just behind them, her dark eyes scanning the crowd with a cautious gaze. Since awakening from her centuries-long slumber, she had struggled to find her place in this new world, but Tanjiro's presence had grounded her. Now, she was ready to face the challenges ahead, even if they were unlike anything she had ever known.

"Just remember," Biscuit said, her sharp eyes narrowing as they neared the auction house. "Once we're in the game, there's no turning back until we complete the mission. This isn't just about finding Ging—it's about surviving."

Killua smirked. "We've been through worse. Besides, we've got each other's backs."

Tanjiro smiled at that, feeling the truth of Killua's words. They had become a team, and together, they could face anything.

Entering the Game

The auction itself went by in a blur. Gon and Killua, using the funds they had gathered from their previous adventures, secured a slot to enter Greed Island. The room was filled with tense anticipation as the players—hunters, criminals, and collectors—gathered to claim their place in the game. Tanjiro and the others kept a low profile, careful not to attract too much attention, especially since they still needed to keep their true identities a secret.

Once the auction was over, they were escorted to a separate room where the game's master awaited. The room was simple but filled with an aura of mystery, and at its center stood a strange console with a slot for the Greed Island disk.

As the group approached, Gon's eyes widened in excitement. "This is it! We're really about to enter the game."

Biscuit folded her arms, her gaze sharp. "Stay focused. This is where it gets real."

The game's master, a tall, hooded figure, inserted the Greed Island disk into the console, and a strange humming noise filled the room. The air around them seemed to shift, as though reality itself was warping. The room's walls began to shimmer, and before they knew it, they were being pulled into the game's world.

The sensation was disorienting, like falling through a tunnel of light and sound, but it lasted only a moment. When Tanjiro blinked, he found himself standing in a completely different landscape—lush, green fields stretching out before him, with mountains in the distance and the sound of a gentle river flowing nearby.

"We're here," Tanjiro whispered, his eyes wide as he took in the beauty of the new world.

Nezuko, standing beside him, hummed softly, her eyes glowing with quiet wonder. The air here felt different—lighter, yet charged with an underlying energy that made her skin tingle.

Yūka, her dark eyes scanning the horizon, remained silent, but Tanjiro could see the tension in her posture. This place was different from the ancient world she had known, but something about it reminded her of the power that had once flowed through her kingdom. The feeling was faint but unmistakable.

Gon, always brimming with energy, spun around in excitement. "This is amazing! It feels so real!"

Killua, ever cautious, kept his gaze fixed on the horizon. "Remember, this is still a game, but the danger here is real. We need to stay sharp."

Biscuit, standing with her arms crossed, gave a small smile. "Now the fun begins. Time to find out how far your training has really taken you."

The First Challenge

The group didn't have to wait long before the first challenge of the game presented itself. As they walked through the grassy fields, a group of players appeared on the horizon—experienced nen users who had clearly been playing Greed Island for a while.

Their leader, a tall man with a cocky grin, stepped forward, eyeing the newcomers with amusement. "Well, well, looks like we've got fresh meat. What's a bunch of rookies doing in a place like this?"

Tanjiro, sensing the tension in the air, stepped forward protectively, his hand resting on the hilt of his sword. "We're here to play the game, just like you."

The man smirked, cracking his knuckles. "You might want to turn back now. This game isn't for the weak."

Killua's eyes narrowed, his nen aura flaring slightly as he stepped up beside Tanjiro. "We're not here to fight, but if you want to start something, we'll finish it."

The tension in the air thickened as the two groups faced off. The other players, clearly experienced in combat, activated their nen, their auras flaring around them like a warning.

Biscuit, ever the calm presence, gave a small sigh. "I'd suggest you back off now if you know what's good for you. These kids aren't as weak as they look."

The man laughed, clearly unimpressed. "I'll believe it when I see it."

Before anyone could react, one of the players charged forward, his nen-infused fist aimed directly at Gon. But Gon was ready. With a quick burst of nen, he dodged the attack, his eyes flashing with determination as he prepared to strike back.

"Jajanken: Rock!" Gon shouted, his fist glowing with raw power as he unleashed a powerful punch that sent the attacker flying backward.

Tanjiro, seeing the situation escalate, took a deep breath and activated his nen. The fiery aura of his Hinokami Kagura flared around him, blending with the energy of his hatsu as he stepped forward to defend his friends.

"Hinokami Kagura, Raging Sun!" Tanjiro called out, his sword cutting through the air with precision as he sliced through the incoming attacks. His movements were swift and controlled, his nen enhancing his already formidable swordsmanship.

Nezuko, her eyes glowing with a fierce light, activated her own hatsu, her demonic strength combining with her nen aura. She moved with blinding speed, dodging attacks and countering with powerful strikes that left her opponents reeling.

Yūka, watching the battle unfold, hesitated for only a moment before stepping forward, her shadow-like aura flaring to life around her
