Chapter 13 - Chapter-13:                     Special Corps

The 'Hunters' team returned to the settlement after the feast. They immediately submitted a report to the Council. The Council soon ordered to form a special corps within the Police department with the sole purpose of hunting the morphs. They have to hunt a morph if they see one in sight. All the hunters either in Council or Police department took the matter in their hands behind everyone's back. They wanted to be the sole benefactor of the spoils and didn't want any leak of information about them.

They imposed stringent requirements to be a part of this special corps. They also planned to prepare training camps to train others who wanted to join the corps. Everyone who wished to join had to pass the final examination held at the end of their training period. All these preparations were smoke screens prepared by hunters to hide their presence within the settlement and be the only group of people within the special corps. So all those normal people who wished to join were sent to the camps and were asked to pass the impossible exam.

This came as a benefit to the Hunters in positions of power in the settlement, as they could find all the other Hunters hiding in the settlement as only those who passed the camp examination would be allowed to deal with any matters regarding the morphs and those who joined the corps will enjoy various other enticing benefits. The 'Hunters' team also became the first permanent squad of the corps after this establishment.

These plans and moves taken by the council were explained to Mohan by Ramesh. After the previous joint mission carried out as a team, everyone formed a special camaraderie with the other members of the team. Before this, all were common people but due to various circumstances, they stand where they are now. Only due to this did Ramesh open up Council plans with Mohan. From the explanation, Mohan came to know that both the head of the council was also a Hunter and one of the Vice heads was a Hunter as well.

Without the support of them both it will be hard to carry out their plans. Mohan doesn't know how all the Hunters and normal people will react to the council's decision. It is in human instinct for them to be free from shackles more so for powerful people like Hunters. But it is also important for there to be some rules and regulations to be followed otherwise following the absolute rule of the jungle where everyone is free to do anything will only result in being under the tyrant's rule which is contrary to everyone's wish.

So it's better for a society of people to follow set rules for both their benefits and for the development of the society as a whole. It is especially true for people with powers out of the norm as they develop or unleash the hidden desires that were suppressed before due to various inhibitions imposed upon them.

For now, this is not made public and how the council carries out and implements their plan also plays a major role in how people react. As for the result, they could only wait for it to be seen in the future. These matters don't affect Mohan that much. For now, his 'Hunters' team is the only approved squad in the upcoming Special Corps. So they could continue their hunt for a long time before other squads were established.

Following this, their squad carried out several hunts for the following two months. During this time they also killed two more morph groups. Of the two leader corpses, one was given to Mohan and another was given to Gopal as he had the most contribution in all their hunts.

After these two months of continuous hunts, all the members of the squad reached 1% completion. Mohan also got a 3% completion message from the NALLA System. If he followed the same trend, he wouldn't have to kill 1500 morphs as he originally estimated.

Although killing 1% morphs doesn't directly increase another 1% to his completion, it gave him nearly 11 to 12 normal morphs worth of Dark energy which is much better than searching for 12 normal morphs and hunting them individually.

Date: March-2020_

Place: Villianur_

Today was the start of a new month and it was also the inaugural day for the training camp designed by the Council. The Council conducted the inaugural function in a grand manner in order to deliver the message to all the people of the settlement about the importance they place on this training camp. The council also publically announced everyone who passed the final examination of the training camp would be joining the new special corps called "Hawks". The main role of "Hawks" is to hunt for morphs surrounding the settlement's territory.

Every "Hawks" members are given preferential treatment within the settlement similar to the benefits enjoyed by the military people formerly. This was going to be their settlement's military force that would guard the settlement against the morphs.

People were happy hearing this announcement, as they could live peacefully with the new corps further adding to the protection around them. They believed this new corps would be the shield that would guard them against external threats. And what they believed was true.

Other intelligent people around were also able to guess the next steps that would be taken by the Council after the establishment of this corps. Opportunistic ones searched for benefits to be gained from the announcement.

Most of the residents in the settlement were people who lost all of their loved ones, there were very few people who still had any relatives left after the 'Descent of Dark'. That is to say, all of them were only surviving for the past four months after gaining consciousness. Many fear whether they will wake up again tomorrow or die a worthless death with no one to even mourn for. This has been their main concern even with the Council taking various measures to improve the security of the settlement.

Only after the 'Descent of Dark' did many realize the role the armies played in their psyche, by guarding their country borders all year long. They all enjoyed the peace without realizing this. So any form of protection was appreciated by them. This will increase their sense of security. So they can finally start to live again without the fear of death and start a new life building a new family of their own.

All the people confident about their strength signed up for the training camp. People who were already in the Police department were also no exception. Anyone who is willing can apply for it. The registration took place after the end of the inaugural function in the same venue area. The registrations will open for one week so people can take time for their decision. The camp was open to the public for the time being so anyone could visit the place before deciding.

Training camp takes up a vast area to accommodate a large number of trainees. There was no high-tech equipment as many would expect. Its style was much more similar to a dojo where one can learn martial arts. It had a huge ground filled with mud and many equipment to train their strength were scattered all over the place. There were also racks of various types of weapons. Running tracks were built around the ground area. A dedicated shooting range to train any form of long-range weapons is also available. People with prior mastery over weapon arts or any form of martial arts were prepared to train the trainees joining the camp.

All one has to do is join the camp and not miss this opportunity to train themselves freely as all expenses during the train time are handled by the Council. Even if normal people can't pass the exam they can improve their combat ability which may help them in the future.
