Yan's face darkened as he watched the silver-eyed youth hovering in the sky just outside Di Yan City, unable to suppress a sense of amazement. The scene of Mo Yu slaying Gao Lie, the chief of the Barbarian Beast Sect, seemed like it had happened only yesterday.
Although the Barbarian Beast Sect was merely a second-rate power in the Black-Corner Region and Gao Lie was only at the peak Dou Wang level, even if he, Yan, personally attacked, it would take some effort to defeat him. Yet, here was Mo Yu, having effortlessly disposed of him.
What puzzled Yan even more was that Mo Yu's forces clearly didn't belong to Jia Nan Academy. Since when had the Black-Corner Region spawned such a formidable new faction? Although troubled, Yan quickly composed himself.
If this matter was not instigated by Jia Nan Academy's higher-ups, then Mo Yu alone would never be able to shake the Di Yan Sect Sect. If it came down to it, he could always take refuge with the Medicine Emperor, Han Feng, since the feud originated from him in the first place.
"Mo Yu, why have you come here, gathering so many people?" Yan's gaze flickered as he demanded sternly.
As his words fell, four strong auras suddenly erupted from behind him—all of them Dou Wang-level elders of the Di Yan Sect Sect. As one of the Black-Corner Region's elite factions and the overlord of Di Yan City, the strength of the Di Yan Sect Sect was certainly no empty reputation.
"Heh, Sect Master Yan, why play dumb? Not long ago, you Black-Corner Region powerhouses barged into our Inner Academy and destroyed our Blazing Sky Qi Refining Tower. Today, I'm here on orders from the Academy's Great Elder to collect interest from Di Yan Sect," Mo Yu smiled coldly.
"Did you think that Jia Nan Academy, which has stood on the continent for so long, would allow anyone to provoke us without consequence?"
Yan, though angered by Mo Yu's lecturing tone, didn't retort. Being from the Black-Corner Region, he knew very well the fearsome reputation of Jia Nan Academy. He would have preferred not to get involved in the first place if not for Han Feng's generous rewards.
However, out of all the factions that had joined the raid on Jia Nan Academy, Di Yan Sect had unexpectedly become the first target for retaliation.
Furrowing his brows, Yan responded in a grave tone, "That incident was instigated by the Medicine Emperor Han Feng, not a deliberate offense from Di Yan Sect Sect. What compensation would be necessary to settle this grudge?"
If possible, Yan preferred to avoid escalating matters with Jia Nan Academy, especially given the Academy's deep-rooted influence in the Black-Corner Region and its elusive yet powerful headmaster, who could reappear at any time.
"Oh? Compensation?" Mo Yu raised an eyebrow and smirked. "Di Yan Sect Sect will cease to exist in the Black-Corner Region and merge into my Yuan Manor. Can Sect Master Yan accept this price?"
Yan's expression darkened immediately. "What? You arrogant fool! Di Yan Sect has stood strong in the Black-Corner Region for decades. You think you can simply take it over at will?"
A white-haired elder beside Yan seethed with anger and berated Mo Yu loudly.
Mo Yu glanced at him, recalling the elder's identity—a Dou Wang and Di Yan Sect's Great Elder. Yan himself was still unfazed, and after exchanging a glance with his subordinates, he sneered, "Your demand is absurd, Mo Yu. We don't even know the true origins of this so-called Yuan Manor. Do you really think Jia Nan Academy's reputation alone can justify such ambition?"
"Oh?" Mo Yu's smile grew colder. "Is it possible that Sect Master Yan looks down on my Yuan Manor? As the leader of Yuan Manor, I, Mo Yu, am not inclined to let that slide."
Yan and the Di Yan Sect higher-ups were visibly startled. A force as powerful as Yuan Manor, entirely under Mo Yu's command? If this youth, who appeared to be no older than twenty, had truly built such an organization from the ground up, his potential was indeed monstrous.
Still, Yan remained resolute. "Heh, so Yuan Manor belongs to Mo Yu after all. In that case, Di Yan Sect is willing to yield Luo Shui City and Huo Ming City to your forces. Perhaps Mo Yu can return to the Academy's Elders and request their forgiveness for our past offenses?"
Upon hearing Yan's offer, one of the elders immediately objected, as these were Di Yan Sect's largest cities aside from Di Yan City, with significant revenue streams. But Yan waved him off; yielding territory was a small price to pay if it meant easing tensions with Jia Nan Academy.
"Oh? It seems Sect Master Yan misunderstood me."
Mo Yu smiled, unconcerned, shaking his head in disapproval. Yan's face grew even darker.
"Hmph! Our leader has spoken—if Di Yan Sect won't submit today, then we will raze it to the ground!" A towering figure, Zi Huo, stepped forward, his voice thundering across Di Yan City as he attracted everyone's attention.
"Raze Di Yan Sect?"
Hearing Zi Huo's bold words, the crowd in and around Di Yan City fell silent in astonishment. Di Yan Sect had long reigned over the Black-Corner Region, its influence deeply rooted. Yet here was this unknown Yuan Manor, a newcomer declaring its intent to destroy Di Yan Sect, sparking intense curiosity.
Could this Yuan Manor truly be capable of toppling Di Yan Sect? And could it potentially become the next dominant power in the Black-Corner Region?
A mocking smile surfaced on Yan's face. "When did the Black-Corner Region become a playground for the likes of you? If you want to destroy Di Yan Sect, you'll have to bring Jia Nan Academy's elder themselves; Yuan Manor alone is not worthy of that."
"Then let's see," Zi Huo retorted, his blood-red eyes glowing with a fierce intensity akin to that of a ferocious beast, exuding a violent and terrifying aura.
With no further words, Zi Huo took a step forward, his immense aura erupting like storm clouds gathering in the sky, enveloping the powerhouses of the Black-Corner Region with a menacing pressure.
For Zi Huo, Mo Yu was both his leader and his master. Since Mo Yu intended to annihilate Di Yan Sect, Zi Huo was determined to follow through, even if it meant risking everything.
Feeling Zi Huo's powerful aura, the upper ranks of Di Yan Sect turned pale. This towering young man appeared to be only at the Dou Wang level, yet his presence seemed to surpass even that of Yan.
Moreover, his aura was unlike that of an ordinary human—it felt akin to the fierce magical beasts lurking deep in the forest.
"Hmph, just a Dou Wang—what's the big fuss?" Yan's face hardened as he glanced at Zi Huo, then sneered, "If Mo Yu insists on causing trouble for Di Yan Sect, then don't blame us for not being polite."
His gaze turned cold as he swung his hand, commanding, "As the strongest sect in Di Yan City and a top power in the Black-Corner Region, we won't allow these intruders to trample over us. All members, listen up! Annihilate every enemy who has dared invade Di Yan Sect!"
"Yes, sir!"
At Yan's command, the elders and disciples of Di Yan Sect shouted in unison. As part of Di Yan Sect, they were filled with fury as their sect had been challenged right at their doorstep.
In the Black-Corner Region, where life and death constantly hung in the balance, even disciples of major sects adopted an attitude of indifference to danger.
Not to mention, they'd fight back even if the powerful Jia Nan Academy came to confront them.
"Everyone, these people once attacked our Inner Academy, nearly bringing it to ruin. The academy has shown us great kindness, and such a grudge cannot go unavenged!"
Mo Yu addressed his troops, now divided into three large groups totaling nearly a thousand, his voice ringing out loudly, "Today, we will strike Di Yan Sect as the first target! When I give the order, all of you will charge forward and remain unstoppable!"
Today marked the first battle of Yuan Manor, and there would be no retreat!
Hearing Mo Yu's call, both the original members of Yuan Manor and the new recruits from the Inner Academy felt a surge of excitement.
Yuan Manor had been conserving its strength in Shi Yan City for some time. Finally, it was time to make its presence known in the Black-Corner Region, and the academy disciples could wash away their former disgrace.
Powerful auras spread across the battlefield as three large banners rose in the distance, representing the Lion Hall, Tiger Hall, and Wolf Hall. The three divisions were primed and ready to launch.
Although Yuan Manor had fewer people than Di Yan Sect, which boasted several thousand disciples in its home territory, the addition of the Inner Academy's elite students meant Yuan Manor was not at a disadvantage.
The hall masters and vice hall masters of the three halls all possessed Dou Wang strength, and even the regular members were at least five-star Dou Shi.
Moreover, the three banners forged by Mo Yu in recent days were not merely for show. The Lion, Tiger, and Wolf banners were all fourth-tier weapons, with distinct effects within their range.
The Lion Banner could instill fear in the enemy, reducing their resistance and attack aggression.
The Tiger Banner heightened the anger levels of their own forces, enhancing the effectiveness of their Dou Techniques.
The Wolf Banner boosted their speed and reduced the Dou Qi consumption of their techniques.
With such power backing Yuan Manor, plus the three formidable banners, they were as unstoppable as a tiger with wings, and this was Mo Yu's confidence in challenging Di Yan Sect head-on.
Even though Di Yan Sect had greater numbers, the two sides were evenly matched in spirit.
"Zi Huo, I'll leave Di Yan Sect's sect master to you. He's a three-star Dou Huang. With your strength, it shouldn't be too difficult to take him down," Mo Yu turned to Zi Huo and instructed, knowing he wasn't strong enough to handle Yan himself unless he relied on Uncle She's power.
"Don't worry, boss. Leave it to me," Zi Huo replied confidently, pounding his chest with a sound like iron. He grinned menacingly at Yan.
"Good, I have faith in you." Mo Yu smiled, then added, stroking his chin thoughtfully, "If possible, capture him alive—I have use for him."
Hearing this, Zi Huo hesitated momentarily, then scratched his head. "I can't guarantee it. I may be able to defeat a three-star Dou Huang, but it won't be easy to overpower him entirely. If he decides to fight to the death, I might not be able to stop him."
"No problem. If it's possible, capture him; if not, just take him down. Your safety is the priority—I don't want you risking yourself for a single fight," Mo Yu said, patting Zi Huo on the shoulder.
"Hehe, don't worry, boss. I'll be fine," Zi Huo chuckled, reassured by Mo Yu's concern.
Meanwhile, seeing the robust Yuan Manor troops and Zi Huo's intimidating strength, Yan's face grew grim.
His brow twitched, a hint of malice flashing in his eyes. He raised his hand slowly, pointing at Mo Yu from afar before clenching his fist tightly.
"Mo Yu, do you think a mere kid like you can wipe out my Di Yan Sect?" Yan's sneering voice rang out in the air, breaking the tense silence.
"Fire Yao Puppet, come forth!"
As his words fell, a low roar echoed from the depths of Di Yan Sect, rumbling like thunder across the skies.
Hearing this, Mo Yu's expression shifted. A tremendous aura began to radiate from deep within Di Yan Sect.
Moments later, a figure appeared—a puppet with a body of fiery red, as if forged from Yao Stone, radiating a powerful blend of fire and metallic energy.
The appearance of the Fire Yao Puppet caused an immediate shift in the battlefield, as everyone realized Di Yan Sect had such a trump card.
"A puppet that's almost at the quasi-Dou Huang level…." Mo Yu muttered, his silver eyes narrowing.
