Within the Inner Academy, fifteen minutes earlier, on a street leading to the Mo Gang's territory.
This was originally just an ordinary pathway for students within the Inner Academy. However, today it suddenly became a hotspot for some reason.
Currently, the relatively narrow street was surrounded by rings of curious students. The air was filled with a mix of voices, and numerous glances tinged with various emotions turned toward the center of the commotion.
"So, you're Xiao Yu. I've heard your fiancée is quite impressive in the Inner Academy. However, if I, this young lady, take a liking to something, you'll have to give it up."
The one speaking was a young woman dressed in a snow-fox fur skirt, surrounded by a group of people.
The young woman was beautiful, with an oval face, cherry lips, delicate eyebrows, and bright eyes, creating a visual appeal that was truly eye-catching.
She was Liu Fei, the younger sister of Liu Qing, who ranked third on the Inner Academy's Strong Ranking.
With her powerful background and outstanding appearance, it was no surprise that she was always surrounded by admirers. After all, girls were rare in the Inner Academy, and attractive girls were highly sought after.
No matter where one is, beauty always garners admiration and favor.
Encircled by admirers, this snow-fox skirt-wearing young woman wore a sweet and calm smile, yet keen observers could detect a hint of pride and vanity in her gaze.
Vanity is something women find hard to resist. So, when she was walking down the street and spotted the wolf-tooth necklace Xiao Yu wore, shining brilliantly under the sunlight, she found herself unable to walk away and straightforwardly asked for it in exchange.
For some reason, women often have a fascination for certain accessories that men can hardly understand. For example, the wolf-tooth necklace that Xiao Yu wore was not particularly exquisite, but its unique craftsmanship and distinct charm made Liu Fei cherish it.
Hearing Liu Fei's unreasonable request, Xiao Yu bit her lip tightly, and her pale fingers clenched so hard they turned red.
When Mo Yu had brought out the treasures from the Wolf King's lair that day, unlike others, Xiao Yu did not choose anything valuable. Instead, she selected an ordinary fifth-tier magical beast's wolf tooth.
While fifth-tier magical beasts have plenty of valuable parts, a single wolf tooth holds little worth, so Xiao Yu easily obtained it.
After acquiring it, Xiao Yu didn't store it away but spent a whole night crafting it into a unique necklace.
In Xiao Yu's heart, this wolf-tooth necklace was already considered a gift from Mo Yu. Now that Liu Fei wanted to forcefully exchange for it, she naturally refused.
After Xiao Yu's rejection, the onlookers cast glances filled with amusement, relishing the drama.
On one side was Xiao Yu, the fiancée of Mo Yu, the newly risen powerhouse in the Inner Academy and leader of the Mo Gang. On the other was Liu Fei, known as the "Snow Fairy," the younger sister of Liu Qing, a long-standing powerhouse in the top three of the Strong Ranking.
Both Mo Yu and Liu Qing, along with their respective factions, Mo Gang and Mountain Splitter, had become formidable forces in the Inner Academy. This conflict between them naturally drew intense interest from the crowd.
The young woman's delicate brows knitted slightly as she looked at Xiao Yu, who had outright refused her. A flash of surprise crossed her face.
It had been quite a while since she had encountered someone who didn't give her face. The last time was about six months ago when her suitors taught that defiant person a lesson, leaving him bedridden for half a month.
Since then, few dared to deny her in the Inner Academy. Unexpectedly, today, she encountered this familiar defiance once again.
"Heh, Fei'er, seems we have another one who doesn't know their place." Behind her, a tall young man looked at the indignant Xiao Yu with a slight smile, seeing it as an excellent chance to make an impression in front of her.
Liu Fei smiled faintly, shook her head slightly, and whispered, "Lei Na, be polite. She's the fiancée of the Mo Gang's leader."
At Liu Fei's hint, the young man called Lei Na grinned and nodded.
"Mo Gang or not, it doesn't matter to me. Giving them a lesson will help them learn their place," he sneered. "Besides, Liu Qing instructed me to protect you. Since you're his cousin, I won't let you suffer the slightest grievance."
Hearing this, Liu Fei couldn't help but smile smugly.
For some time, she had already found Mo Yu and the Mo Gang's rising fame distasteful. After all, he was merely a newcomer who had escaped the Storm Wolf pack by luck. The fact that people compared him to her mighty cousin Liu Qing enraged her.
When she spotted Xiao Yu today, she couldn't resist provoking her, partly because of the necklace and partly out of spite.
At Liu Fei's suggestion, Lei Na stepped toward Xiao Yu, his towering figure exuding an intense pressure, causing Xiao Yu's expression to tighten.
"Apologies, Junior Xiao Yu, but Fei'er wants that wolf-tooth necklace. You'll have to part with it, and Mountain Splitter will compensate you later."
As he spoke, Lei Na looked at Xiao Yu with a look that brooked no argument, even reaching out to take the necklace by force.
Xiao Yu's expression paled. Lei Na was a four-star Dou Ling of Mountain Splitter, and although her strength had improved, it was still far from his level.
"Lei Na, if you dare lay a hand on our leader's woman, do you want Mountain Splitter to go to war with Mo Gang?!"
In that tense moment, Fu Ao arrived with reinforcements from Mo Gang, instantly intensifying the atmosphere.
"Apologies, Junior Xiao Yu. We're late. Let us handle this matter," Fu Ao said, comforting Xiao Yu before turning to Lei Na with a stern voice.
"Lei Na, you must apologize to Junior Xiao Yu for what you just did!"
"Hmph," Lei Na scoffed, clearly indifferent. "And if I refuse?"
"Then you're challenging our leader and Mo Gang, making you my mortal enemy!" Fu Ao's face darkened.
As Mo Yu's fiancée, Xiao Yu represented Mo Yu's dignity, as well as that of Mo Gang. Given Mo Yu's current status within Mo Gang, both Fu Ao and the members behind him were equally indignant and furious.
Lei Na and Liu Fei exchanged glances, their expressions shifting slightly. They hadn't expected Fu Ao to take such a hard stance, showing that Mo Yu's influence within Mo Gang was profound despite his newcomer status.
Perhaps, they had stirred up a formidable adversary.
"Hmph, Fu Ao, you're just a three-star Dou Ling. Do you really want to challenge me?"
Suppressing his frustration, Lei Na sneered, displaying a hint of disdain. With Mountain Splitter and Liu Qing backing him, he felt confident.
Without further ado, Fu Ao's storage ring flashed, and a deep-blue trident appeared in his hand.
"Hm?" Lei Na raised an eyebrow upon seeing Fu Ao's weapon, then smirked coldly. "Interesting, but you're still not enough to defeat me."
As Lei Na's body trembled, a deep yellow energy surged from within, enveloping him entirely.
"Fu Ao, you're an older student following a freshman. Aren't you ashamed?" Lei Na's voice echoed mockingly from within the yellow energy, then he stomped heavily, his form charging toward Fu Ao like a rampaging beast, his oppressive energy roaring forward.
"Hmph, our leader's wisdom is something you cannot comprehend. Provoking Mo Gang is your greatest mistake, even if you're from Mountain Splitter!"
Unafraid, Fu Ao gripped the Sea Shark Trident that Mo Yu had personally crafted for him. His heart surged with respect for Mo Yu, and his fighting spirit soared.
He rotated the trident, pointed its prongs at Lei Na, and with a fierce smile, he kicked off the ground, transforming into a blue shadow that shot forward. As he moved, blue Dou Qi rapidly swirled around the trident, eventually condensing into a massive energy shark.
The blue energy shark bared its sharp teeth, glinting with a cold, sinister light under the blue Dou Qi. It was clear that anyone caught in its jaws would suffer severe, perhaps fatal, injuries.
"Boom!"
In the arena, two figures—one clad in yellow and the other in blue—flashed past each other like lightning before colliding head-on, akin to two meteors crashing together. Instantly, two powerful forces of Dou Qi exploded from the impact, sending shockwaves that cracked the hardened floor beneath them.
"Clang!"
A crisp metallic sound echoed through the air, accompanied by sparks from the clash between a yellow energy orb and a deep blue trident. Visible shockwaves rippled outward from their collision, striking both figures forcefully.
"Bang, bang!"
With muffled sounds, both figures retreated, though the blue-clad figure quickly steadied himself with only two steps, letting out a low grunt. His trident trembled briefly before dispersing the force aimed at him.
In contrast, the yellow-clad figure stumbled backward much more awkwardly, taking four or five steps before stabilizing. As he did, a trickle of blood appeared at the corner of his mouth, and his aura grew erratic, clearly suffering from internal injuries.
"Your weapon… has something strange about it!" Lei Na exclaimed, wiping the blood from his mouth as he stared incredulously at Fu Ao's trident. If it hadn't been for the sudden burst of dark energy from his opponent's weapon, how could he have lost to a mere three-star Dou Ling?
"Heh, a loss is still a loss. So much for the mighty Mountain Splitter," Fu Ao chuckled. His Sea Shark Trident, crafted personally by Mo Yu, was no ordinary weapon. Releasing hidden energy was just one of its many tricks.
However, just as Fu Ao was enjoying his victory, a sudden gust of force came from above. Sensing it, Fu Ao's expression shifted, and he instinctively raised his trident in defense.
Yet this seemingly insignificant gust felt as heavy as a mountain as it collided with his trident, producing a crisp sound.
"Ding!"
As the sound faded, Fu Ao felt an overwhelming force pushing against him. His expression changed as his grip on the trident wavered, and the next moment, he was sent flying backward, crashing heavily into a wall before sliding to the ground.
This unexpected development stunned everyone in the arena. After a moment, Fu Ao struggled to his feet with Xiao Yu's help, coughing up a mouthful of blood.
"Quite bold," came a low voice from the crowd. "Let's see if my Mountain Splitter is as 'insignificant' as you say."
As everyone watched, a tall figure appeared on a rooftop before leaping down, landing in the arena with a force so great that cracks spread from his feet.
The figure walked toward Xiao Yu with an oppressive, domineering aura that stilled the air in the arena.
With an icy stare, Fu Ao looked at the tall, imposing figure and said in a low voice, "The Dominating Spear, Liu Qing!"
"So you know my name," the man said with an indifferent tone. "Your skills aren't bad. If you leave the Mo Gang and join my Mountain Splitter, I can forgive your previous slander."
"Humph, never!" Fu Ao replied, wiping the blood from his mouth without hesitation.
"Oh?" Liu Qing's normally calm eyes flickered with a rare hint of surprise. It had been a long time since anyone had turned down his personal invitation so resolutely.
Just as Liu Qing was about to respond, he suddenly sensed two familiar presences and turned with a mocking smile.
"Lin Yan, Qian Mo, you're here too? I never expected two of the top ten ranking members to join a faction formed by a newcomer. How shameful."
As he spoke, the crowd parted, revealing Lin Yan and Qian Mo walking forward.
Ignoring Liu Qing's taunts, the two men's gazes shifted to the red-eyed Xiao Yu and the heavily injured Fu Ao. Glancing at each other, they shared a look of concern, thinking of how furious Mo Yu would be when he found out. Both had somber expressions.
"Liu Qing, you're in big trouble now."
Liu Qing raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "Oh? The trouble you're referring to wouldn't happen to be Mo Yu, would it?"
"He didn't come?" Liu Qing continued, a smirk on his face. "I'd like to see if he's as strong as the rumors say."
"Just as you wish. I'm here."
Before Liu Qing finished speaking, a calm voice echoed through the arena. The crowd shifted, all eyes turning to a silver-eyed young man who had appeared silently in the middle of the arena.
The silver-haired figure solidified out of a blur, and as he lifted his head, he revealed a handsome face with a faint smile. However, under that smile, anyone could sense a deep, icy killing intent.
"It seems I came out of seclusion just in time to witness such a spectacle between the old guard and the rising stars."
Nearby, a dashing young man leaning on a railing noticed the scene and brightened up, his eyes widening in excitement. Anyone familiar with him would recognize him as Lin Xiuya, ranked second on the top list.
