After displaying some decent strength, Mo Yu smoothly blended into the temporarily assembled mercenary group.

In the quiet forest, the large group of people walked silently. Watchful eyes swept over the shadows among the trees, hands gripping the weapons at their waists, ready to handle any sudden situations.

These were experienced mercenaries who had roamed the Magical Beast Mountain Range for years. Even though this was their first collaboration, they maintained a basic level of mutual understanding. A glance exchanged between them could convey signals of both danger and safety.

Though it was Mo Yu's first time being a mercenary, both in this life and his previous one, his vigilance and ability to cooperate were flawless.

His performance surprised the surrounding mercenaries. They had assumed someone as gifted as him would be aloof, but instead, he acted like a seasoned veteran.

Turning his head, Mo Yu looked back at the group of Wan Yao Pavilion herbalists being heavily guarded. His gaze swept through the group before landing on Xiao Yixian.

Beside Xiao Yixian stood a rather handsome young man, but judging by her demeanor, she wasn't particularly impressed by his enthusiasm.

Mo Yu's eyes narrowed as he observed the young man. His gaze stopped on the emblem on the man's chest—an insignia depicting a one-eyed wolf head.

The compliments from those around them confirmed the man's identity: Mu Li, the young leader of the Wolf Head Mercenary Group.

Scanning the thirty or so mercenaries wearing the same emblem on their chests, Mo Yu understood that these people were from one of the three major mercenary groups in Green Mountain Town.

Compared to Mo Yu's temporary group of scattered mercenaries, the Wolf Head Mercenary Group was clearly more disciplined and trusted by Wan Yao Pavilion.

Outside the Magical Beast Mountain Range, everything was still calm. However, shortly after the group entered the mountains, small-scale magical beast attacks became increasingly frequent.

Within just a few kilometers, the group faced three waves of magical beasts. Fortunately, the mercenaries were numerous, and at the cost of a dozen lightly injured members, they repelled all three waves.

During these skirmishes, Mo Yu demonstrated his extraordinary skills. Ordinary first-rank magical beasts were no match for him.

Because of this, Mo Yu gradually gained the recognition of everyone in the temporary group, though he didn't particularly care about it.

"Everyone, we're nearing the herbal gathering area. Let's take a break. We've been walking for quite a while, and you all must be tired." Xiao Yixian's soft voice suddenly broke the silence.

As her words fell, the entire group stopped in unison.

After a quick discussion, some mercenaries spread out to guard the perimeter, while others sat down to recover their strength after the long journey.

For Mo Yu, this short distance hadn't consumed any dou qi, so he was in excellent condition.

However, when he noticed Xiao Yixian disappear into the forest, Mo Yu raised an eyebrow. Telling the mercenaries beside him that he was stepping away to relieve himself, he slowly made his way toward a nearby grove.

Entering the grove, the light dimmed slightly. Noticing subtle traces of someone having passed through, Mo Yu's lips curled into a smile.

The deeper Mo Yu ventured, the more a steep cliff came into view. Below the cliff was a lush green forest, beautiful and serene.

Seeing the cliff, Mo Yu paused, then stroked his chin as a thought crossed his mind.

His gaze swept across the edge of the cliff before stopping on a pale white flower with crimson fruits growing there.

Raising an eyebrow at the sight, Mo Yu walked toward the flower.

Suddenly, a jade-like hand extended, plucking the flower before Mo Yu's eyes.

Unfazed by the sudden appearance of the hand, Mo Yu took another step forward.

As he approached, a delicate and ethereal face emerged from below the cliff. Xiao Yixian, her expression slightly flustered, glanced at the calm young man standing above her.

"Do you need help?" Mo Yu asked with a faint smile, looking at Xiao Yixian, who was hanging below the cliff.

"Mm... Could you give me a hand?" Xiao Yixian's voice softened as she looked up at the uniquely charismatic young man. For some reason, she felt as though he could see right through her.

Mo Yu nodded, grabbing her jade-like hand and lightly pulling her up. With a graceful leap, Xiao Yixian's figure drew a beautiful arc in mid-air before landing on the cliff's edge.

"Thank you," Xiao Yixian said softly, quickly pulling her hand away and glancing toward the cliff's edge.

Brushing her fingers through her hair, Xiao Yixian's gaze lingered on Mo Yu's face. Upon seeing his handsome features, she seemed to recall something and asked, "You're one of the mercenaries hired by Wan Yao Pavilion, right?"

Noticing her fleeting glance at the cliff, Mo Yu smiled faintly.

It seemed the saying often heard on the Dou Qi Continent was true: when you fall off a cliff, don't panic—your path to becoming a strong fighter might be right in front of you.

"Mm," Mo Yu responded casually, then looked at the woman before him.

Although Xiao Yixian wasn't breathtakingly beautiful, her gentle aura was indeed captivating.

Seeing Mo Yu's casual demeanor and lack of intention to leave, Xiao Yixian's brows furrowed slightly. Her black eyes flickered, and she pointed to the white plant by the cliff's edge, smiling, "You seem interested in this herb. Do you recognize it?"

Mo Yu replied indifferently, "It's a Bailan Fruit, a mid-tier herb worth about four thousand gold coins."

Xiao Yixian's eyes flashed with surprise at Mo Yu's quick identification of the herb's name and value. "You've studied medicinal herbs as well?"

"I know a bit," Mo Yu shrugged, replying vaguely.

Although his main profession was a forging master, he had a basic understanding of alchemy as well.

Seeing this, Xiao Yixian didn't press further. She took out the Bailan Fruit she had just picked and said, "You helped me, so I'll give this fruit to you as thanks."

Mo Yu shook his head calmly and said, "A gentleman does not take what others cherish. This Bailan Fruit is better suited for you."

Xiao Yixian blinked in surprise. Her gaze softened as she looked at the young man before her, and her fondness for him grew. "Thank you."

After a moment of silence, seeing that Mo Yu still hadn't left, Xiao Yixian glanced at the cliff with a conflicted expression. Then she said in her gentle voice, "The group has probably finished resting by now. We should head back."

Unexpectedly, the young man didn't move after she spoke.

Noticing Xiao Yixian's subtle attempt to send him away, Mo Yu's lips curved into a slight smile. His handsome face, illuminated by the faint moonlight, seemed almost otherworldly.

He looked at Xiao Yixian, then turned his gaze toward the bottom of the cliff. What he said next shocked her to the core.

"If I'm not mistaken, there's a secret below this cliff, isn't there?"
