Chapter 88 - CH88

Helag was ready to leave Stormwind City and the Kingdom of Violet.

There were two reasons for his decision. First, he had taken many valuable items from Creek Valley Town. If the place had an owner, they might come looking for their possessions. Helag knew he couldn't win a fight against such a person, so fleeing was the best option.

Second, Creek Valley Town was too strange, even affecting Stormwind City. Helag decided to put more distance between himself and the town, believing that even the strongest powers had their limits.

"I still have to complete Larry's mission and head to the Kingdom of Doris," he reminded himself. He needed to find Moonstone Grass in the west.

Although the mission was just an excuse, it still needed to be completed.

"Hopefully, things in Moonlight Woodland will settle soon."

Helag checked his pocket for the communication stone, but there was still no message.

If the war ended, Larry would notify him through the stone.

Holding the stone outside, Helag couldn't use its communication functions or access the internal chats and tasks of Moonlight Woodland. He could only receive messages from Larry, a formal wizard.

Having made up his mind, Helag announced, "That's it. I'll be leaving Stormwind City in a couple of days."

"What?" Robert panicked. "Sir, where are you going? Can you take me with you?"

Helag refused bluntly. "No, taking you along is too troublesome. You're not a beautiful woman, so why would I take you?"

"But… I feel safer with you. If you leave, who knows what might happen to me," Robert said, feeling insecure.

Helag laughed. "Safe with me? Are you sure? You've only been with me for a short while and already encountered such strange events. What about the future?"

Robert realized Helag had a point. He had only been guiding Helag and had already faced bizarre situations. Future adventures might be even more dangerous, and his life couldn't withstand such risks. He fell silent.

Helag then turned to Miro. "Vice President Miro, I need your help with something."

"Please, go ahead," Miro said attentively.

After leaving the Adventurers' Guild, Helag returned to the Banks family inn.

Sid heard the news immediately and rushed back, smelling of alcohol. "Sir, you're back!"

Helag was packing his things and glanced at Sid. "Yes, I'll be leaving in a few days. You can go back too."

"Leaving? Where are you going, sir?" Sid sobered up a bit.

"That's not for you to know. When you return, thank Count Huen for me," Helag replied.

"I will, sir," Sid nodded.

That night, Helag lay in bed, meditating.

He still needed to verify the potion formula to accelerate meditation. He had planned to stay in Stormwind City to experiment with it, but the events in Creek Valley Town made it unsafe to remain. A distance of over a hundred kilometers wasn't enough.

Once he reached the Kingdom of Doris on the west coast, he should be out of Creek Valley Town's influence.

However, traveling from the Kingdom of Violet to the Kingdom of Doris required identification and official documents, which was cumbersome.

After discussing his plans with Miro, Miro assured him he would handle it. He would prepare a fictitious identity and all necessary documents for Helag.

As the vice president of the Adventurers' Guild, Miro had extensive connections. By networking with nobles, he could easily arrange these matters.

Miro estimated it would take about seven days to complete the paperwork, so Helag stayed in the city during that time.

On the third day, Robert visited.

"Sir, I've been having nightmares these past few days. I dream of a monster with an axe chasing me and getting beheaded every night. Do you think something is haunting me?" Robert asked, looking distressed with dark circles under his eyes, indicating he hadn't slept well.

Helag pondered for a moment and took out a pocket watch. "It seems like something might be bothering you. I'll dispel it for you. This is a high-level Holy Light spell that can dispel curses and nightmares. The uses are limited, but I'll help you this time since you guided me."

Robert didn't actually have anything on him, at least nothing Helag could detect. But to help him sleep better, Helag decided to perform a psychological treatment.

He had already used the Holy Light spell on himself with no effect, only a brief warmth.

"Thank you, sir!" Robert recognized the pocket watch as a valuable item, marveling at its craftsmanship.

As an experienced adventurer, Robert had a keen eye for valuable items. The fact that Helag wore it close to his body indicated its significance.

Robert felt hopeful, believing he might be saved.

Helag held the pocket watch in front of Robert and infused it with magic.

The watch glowed white, and a woman's apparition appeared, exhaling a breath towards Robert.

The breath enveloped Robert, making him feel as if he were soaking in a hot spring, warm all over.

At the same time, black smoke emerged from Robert's body and quickly dissipated.

"There really was something…" Helag was surprised, not expecting the Holy Light spell to actually work.

Seeing this, Robert was relieved. "I knew something was wrong. I'm glad I came to you, sir. If I had waited, I might have died."

After the black smoke vanished, Robert felt much lighter, the pressure on his body gone.

"You should be able to sleep well now," Helag said softly.

"Thank you for saving me, sir!" Robert knelt in gratitude, clearly very emotional after his ordeal.

"Alright, go back now," Helag said, waving him off.

Robert nodded and prepared to leave.

Helag suddenly called him back. "I have a question for you. You don't have to answer if you don't want to. I'm just curious."

"What is it? I'll answer if I can," Robert replied earnestly.

"I want to know, who hired you to assassinate Josh?" Helag asked.
