Chapter 2 - Predetermine

Damiana stood in silence as Nyx gestured toward the wheels that hovered before her, gleaming in the soft glow of the massive moon overhead. They were both large, their surfaces made of what seemed to be pure starlight silver, shimmering and swirling like the night sky itself had been trapped within them. The edges of the wheels were carved with ancient symbols, giving them an otherworldly, almost celestial beauty.

The first wheel was marked with intricate, glowing symbols that represented various races, each one more dangerous and powerful than the last. Damiana's eyes scanned the options, a nervous energy building in her chest.

The options on the race wheel included:

Vampire

Werewolf

DarkFae

Siphoner

Witch

Kryptonian

Immortal

Hellhound

Demon

Dragon

Nymph

Celestial

Hybrid

Angel

Human

Tribrid

Damiana's breath hitched as she realized what was about to happen. The choice would not be hers. Fate—or perhaps Nyx—would decide her new nature.

"Go ahead, child," Nyx urged, her eyes gleaming with interest. "Spin the wheel and let it reveal your destiny."

Damiana hesitated for only a moment before reaching out, her fingers grazing the cold, silvery surface of the wheel. With a firm push, she sent it spinning. The symbols blurred together in a whirlwind of light and shadow, each option glowing faintly as they passed. The forest around her seemed to hold its breath as the wheel slowed, the clicking of each symbol growing louder in her ears.

Finally, it stopped.

Three symbols glowed brightly before her: Siphoner, Immortal, and Dark Fae.

The power surged through her immediately. She was no longer simply Damiana Baltazar. She had become a Tribrid—a combination of three potent, magical races. A Siphoner, capable of stealing magic from witches and magical creatures; Immortal, never to age, never to die; and Dark Fae, with an ancient connection to the untamed magic of nature and the night. She could feel the power thrumming in her veins, her very essence transforming into something far more primal and deadly than she had ever imagined.

Nyx smiled, her expression one of dark satisfaction. "A fitting combination. You will be both predator and prey, feeding off the magic of others, immortal in your vengeance, and tied to the wild magic of the fae."

Damiana exhaled, still processing the transformation. The air around her hummed with energy, and she could feel her new nature settling into her soul. She had become something far more dangerous than she ever could have dreamed.

But it wasn't over.

Nyx gestured to the second wheel, this one marked with words that pulsed with energy. Like the first, it was made of starlight silver, shimmering faintly under the moon's glow. The words were in a language she didn't recognize, but the power they carried was unmistakable.

The options on this second wheel—the System Wheel—included:

Primal

Void

Night

Check-in

Hybrid (2-in-1 combination)

Evolution

Elemental

Huntress

Chaos

Conqueror

Dungeon Master

Damiana's heart raced. The wheel would determine how she would grow, evolve, and gain power in this new world Nyx had chosen for her. Without hesitation, she spun the second wheel, watching as the words blurred together in a silver streak of light.

This time, the wheel slowed almost teasingly, each word glowing brighter as it clicked past. Finally, it stopped on two words that pulsed with an almost primal energy: Primal and Huntress.

Nyx's smile widened, her voice lilting with approval. "Ah, yes. The instincts of a huntress, guided by primal power. You will hunt, evolve, and claim power from every challenge you face. Your path will be one of conquest and growth, driven by the wild instincts that now dwell within you."

Damiana felt a surge of excitement mixed with anticipation. A system designed for hunting and evolution—she could feel the primal hunger stirring inside her, a need to track, hunt, and become stronger with every battle.

But Nyx wasn't finished. Stepping closer, the goddess's presence became overwhelming, her eyes gleaming like distant stars. "Now, child, you are entitled to three wishes. Speak them, and they shall be granted."

Damiana's mind raced. Three wishes—anything she wanted. She took a deep breath, thinking carefully about what she needed to survive and thrive in whatever world lay ahead.

"For my first wish," she said, her voice steady, "I want the ability to travel between different universes."

Nyx tilted her head, a look of approval flickering across her face. "An ambitious request. I will grant you this power, but it will be sealed until you have gathered enough strength to wield it."

Damiana nodded, accepting the condition. She understood the need for restraint. Power, after all, had to be earned.

"For my second wish," she continued, "I want my own dimensional space—somewhere I can train, store things, and grow stronger. A library and training room where time moves slower."

Nyx's laugh echoed softly through the forest. "A clever wish, child. Your sanctuary will grow with your power, starting small but becoming vast as you evolve."

Relief washed over Damiana. A place of her own, a realm where she could learn and grow in peace. It was exactly what she needed.

Her final wish came easily. She thought of her old life—the nights of working late, scraping by just to survive. She would never live like that again.

"For my last wish," she said firmly, "I want permanent financial stability. No more dead-end jobs. I want freedom." Being a millennial was fuckin hard.

Nyx's laugh echoed through the clearing, low and melodic. "Ah, how delightfully mortal of you. Very well, I will grant you eternal wealth, though it will not come in the form of gold or coin. Your riches will flow from your influence, your conquests, and the allies you gather. As your power grows, so too will your wealth."

Damiana smiled, satisfied with her choices. Power, freedom, and security—all within her grasp.

Nyx stepped back, her figure fading into the shadows as the forest around them began to blur. The trees dissolved into mist, the fog rolled away, and the ground beneath her feet vanished as the world tilted and spun. The bright, silvery light of the moon grew larger, filling her vision until it consumed everything.

"Go forth, my child," Nyx's voice echoed in the distance, growing fainter. "I look forward to what you will become in the future."
