Chapter 51 - Chapter 51: Don't Change

"You're just fine the way you are now. There's no need for any changes."

When Gu Mo replied, the deep darkness in his eyes was so thick that it couldn't be dispersed.

He wasn't quite sure. If Su Heyi became a normal person, would she still be as defenseless against him as she was now? Would she still not be afraid of him, with no calculation or conspiracy in her eyes? Would her eyes still be as clear and innocent?

His arms unconsciously tightened, and Gu Mo's face suddenly turned cold and stern.

The head of the Gu family was fierce and violent to outsiders, but he had never been a particularly good person to begin with.

Gu Mo was well aware of the demon lurking within him. It was a fierce beast, stretching its claws and baring its teeth, looking hideous and savage. If that demon were accidentally unleashed, there would be rivers of blood.

He had always admitted to the coldness and callousness in his bones, as well as those selfish and dark emotions that had never disappeared.

If the restored Su Heyi saw the real him, would everything still be the same as it was now?

"Everyone thinks I'm stupid. Do I have to become smarter so that I can stay with Mr. Gu every day?" Su Heyi asked innocently. In her current world, everything was that simple.

"No. As long as I like it, you can be with me every day without caring about anyone else's opinions." Gu Mo kissed her on the cheek and softened his tone.

Gu Mo knew he was being contradictory. He was worried that after Su Heyi became a normal person, nothing would be the same as it was now, yet he also hoped that Su Heyi could lead a healthy life.

But in any case, since Su Heyi had already barged into his life, he wouldn't let her go again.

"Really?" Su Heyi trusted Gu Mo wholeheartedly. This trust had been there from the very beginning.

Probably because Gu Mo was the first person who had truly cared about her.

The two of them spent some tender moments in the room. Then Gu Mo dealt with his official business while Su Heyi obediently sat on the sofa watching cartoons.

When Su Youyou knocked on the door, Gu Mo had expected it. He made her wait outside for a long time before slowly going out.

"Mr. Gu!" Su Youyou said joyfully, "He Yi is here with you, right? Could you please tell her to come out? I have something to say to her."

Gu Mo's eyes were like swords. "What do you want to say? I'll pass it on for you."

Gu Mo's room was large, and standing at the door, one couldn't see the situation inside. She could only persevere: "Well, can I stay here tonight? I'll talk to He Yi when she comes out later!"

"There won't be any thunder tonight, Miss Su." Gu Mo taunted her in a cold tone.

Su Youyou's face turned pale as she remembered the excuse she had used to stay here last time.

She gave an awkward laugh: "I, I just haven't seen her for so long, so..."

"Someone will see you out later. Goodbye." Gu Mo shut the door, not showing her any mercy.

After all the anticipation in the past few days, facing Gu Mo's cold reaction today, Su Youyou felt an enormous sense of 落差感 (the Chinese word for'sense of disparity' which might be better translated contextually as 'a huge let-down' or 'a big disappointment' here).

But even if she wanted to shamelessly stay, she couldn't because the butler had already come upstairs to chase her away at Gu Mo's order: "Miss, please. The car is ready. You should go back to your own home instead of staying here."

Su Youyou walked downstairs with a pale face. The moment she made eye contact with Gu Rui, she quickly turned her head and sped up her pace to leave.

"Tsk, it seems that only your daddy can handle this." Gu Rui curled her lips. "Let's go upstairs and have a look."

Gu Mengbao happily followed Gu Rui upstairs.

"How is it, cousin? Are you in a good mood now that you've driven your secret crush away?" Gu Rui didn't go in but leaned against the door.

Gu Mo said indifferently: "It had to be dealt with sooner or later."

Yang Cui had already lost her job. After that, just let that family know that they should never come to bother Su Heyi again.

"Okay. If there's nothing I need to help with, I'll go home first." Before leaving, Gu Rui waved to Su Heyi. "I'll come to play with you next time, little He Yi!"

Su Heyi nodded vigorously.

Gu Rui walked downstairs slowly. When she walked out of the Gu family's gate, she saw a car parked outside, the engine turned off. It seemed to have been waiting there all along.

She walked over and knocked on the window. Then she walked around to the passenger side and got in, tilting her chin up and saying, "Let's go. Home."

"It hasn't been an hour yet." Jin Chenzhou started the car, a glimmer of amusement seemingly flashing in his eyes.

"I was afraid you'd be waiting impatiently. I'm such a considerate person." Gu Rui turned on the stereo and played a Spanish song, humming along.

Jin Chenzhou glanced at her occasionally but didn't interrupt.

"Hey, do you want to know what I came here for tonight?"

"According to the three rules we agreed on, I can't ask about anything regarding you." Jin Chenzhou stared straight ahead, his dark eyes inscrutable.

Gu Rui's phoenix eyes narrowed coquettishly. "Oh, using this trick to tease me?"

"Don't dare." Jin Chenzhou said he didn't dare, but there was no trace of fear in his manner.

Gu Rui rubbed her temples and said, "I don't come to my cousin's place often. I usually just come to see my cousin's son. In the past, when I wanted to see my cousin, I usually went to his other places. But recently, he's been coming back home every day."
