Chapter 14 - Field assignment

"Was this all a scheme?" Silver said.

"What?!" Emily asked. "What are you saying?!" She said.

Silver stared at Dago. "Did you set me up?! Did you let yourself get killed because you knew I would save you?!" He asked.

Dago shaking his head. "No. Lad. No. I took a chance coming here but I had to come because eventually they would have gotten the future of Hawks Landing." He said and pointed at Silver and Emily.

Silver frowned at me. "I don't understand." He said.

"Silver. I told you before. The library was always a place to safe guard the real power of it. James is here. Ask your father the purpose of the Hawks Landing." Dago said.

Silver turned to James. "Dad. Why did you build Hawk Landing and the library. Wasn't it to push the boundaries of magic and help people." He said.

James smiled. "Silver. Hawks Landing. The library. The damn garden. Everything we built was because of the people here. Our purpose wasn't to build a place simply to contain knowledge and power but to build a place where we can cultivate people with the desire and talent to push the boundaries of magic. You and your sister are the treasure we desired to create snf guard. Losing you means we would lose generations of progress. So yes. Dago is right."

Silver stared at him. "Holy shit!" He said

Dago caught Silver's gaze. He smiled. "There it is. You get it. I knew you would. I waited seventeen years for this moment. Look what you've done Silver. Welcome to ride mate. It doesn't end. Come with me and I will help you to push yourself to securing the future of Hawks Landing." He said.

Silver studied Dago. "Go with you where for how long?" He asked.

Dago chuckled. "Everywhere. There are no limits to the adventure and ride I am offering you. Give me a year on my time and you'll come here to create something wonderful in this time." He said.

"Your time?! Aren't our times the same?" James asked.

Dago shook his head. "Oh no lad. When you travel with me my time is subject to me. All I'm asking for is a year of my time." He said.

James stared at him. "So what's a year in your time then while traveling in the main library one hour or day?" He said.

Dago hissed between his teeth. "That's a hard one one to say mate. Let's say when they come back they'll have a little more knowledge and experience on their belt." He said. He looked between Emily and Silver. "Forgive me. Where are my manners. Would you two be interested in a field assignment internship with me and Bellatrix as your instructors in the main library. You'll only be away for day. Though it will fill like a much much longer time." He said.

"Your face." Emily said pointing to Dago's face.

Dago's wounds were healing. But, he grimaced. "I know it is rather strange sight to see I'm sure." He said.

"Are you a were-wolf." Emily said.

"No dear." Dago said sweetly. "I had some experiences and enchantments that were cast on and changed my body. So I age very very slowly. I'm still mortal like you are just different. It is a very long violent story that I prefer not to go into detail about it." He said and threw the sword to Silver who caught the handle. Dago nodded. "Keep it." He said and the he tool out his wand and touched it to his shirt.

Dago's suit was restored to new. "Now. I think Silver is interested. What about you dear?" He said addressing Emily.

Emily stared at him. "Me? You wish me to go with you. I did very little to get you back and I only followed Silver's instructions and you don't like me." She said.

Dago laughed at her. "Your the daughter of my best friends in all of existence. I care a great deal about you. I want you to come with me so I can help you and your brother experience somethings in a controlled environment that will add to your well being and knowledge." He said.

Emily sighed. "Do have time to decide this?" She asked.

Dago shook his head. "Hell no. It must be now or in the next fifteen or seventy years. I am on strict traveling schedule." He said and looked at Silver raising an eye brow and smiled.

Silver laughed but nodded. "I'm game for some adventure and to learn somethings that will help us advance the library and magic." He said.

Dago nodded and he waved toward the doorway of light behind Bellatrix. "Follow Bellatrix back into the main library then." He said and turned to Emily but she was already quickly following her brother as he followed behind Bellatrix back the way she and Dago had come.

James and Dago hugged quickly. "You need to visit me more asshole. I miss you and your positive energy." James said.

Dago and James stared at each other. "Promise I won't take them for long in your time. You'll look right behind and they'll be returning back to you. Safe and sound but hopefully wiser and stronger." He said and then turned to Mara.

They hugged and they parted. Mara patted his cheeks. "We know they'll be safe with you Dago. But afterward please come back more Dago. I mean it." Mara said and let him go.

Ava touched Dago's cheeks. "I love you. You will never know how much for what you've given to us and brought back to us." She said and kissed his forehead.

Dago grinned at her and moved quickly to hurry away. He nodded to Angus. "I shall returned Mr. Potter." He said.

Angus shook his head. "Call me Angus, Dago. Take care of them and yourself." He said.

Dago snorted. "Oh you can be sure of that my friend. You can be sure of that. See you." He said and hurried away toward the door way of light and into adventure.
